I always thought I like the "Space" Themes, but I realized... Space must be boring AF! XD
Then it made sense: I like the new planets and opportunities! The unknown and freedom! ...but not the fights and "void". So... not the Space in Space :P

The scale, I guess? Being able to command multi-system space empires.
On the non-strategy front, I guess I like the freedom of movement and, well, the coolness factor of flying around in a spaceship!

Space has always been overhyped with various scifi series, full of action and adventure. Few have been good about showing how long it takes to get anywhere, how empty it is, and just how uninhabitable most places will be.
But its the future, however distant it actually is, and its going to be amazing to explore once we leave this rock.
