Just giving away some old keys I found lying around.
Instead of leaving leaving a generic thanks, anyone know of a good sci-fi or mecha anime to watch ?

Majestic Prince (recent mech show)
Legend of Galactic Heroes (oldschool space-opera)
Captain Harlock (only the most badass protagonist ever)
Mouretsu Pirates (recent and female Captain Harlock basically)
Outlaw Star (if you haven't watched it already)
Big O (Gozilla-style mech fights)
Patlabor (police with mechs)
Redline (F-Zero+ Wacky races + pure awesome = most gorgeous movie I've ever seen)
Crest of the Stars (Legend of Galactic Heroes lite with space elves)
A lot of these are 80s or 90s shows... sorry if you don't like older shows but the more memorable ones are all old shows for me. :x

Talking about older shows, Gunbuster is a must-watch.

I haven't watched that one yet but it's on my to-watch list. :3 There's a bunch of other ones I didn't mention but I figured these were probably my absolute favorite ones that I've watched multiple times and still haven't gotten tired of.
I also failed to mention Space Brothers and Planetes since those are really more on the slice-of-life side but they do involve space and are really well-written.

Planetes is really cool, even if op asked for sci-fi and mecha I think he would enjoy it. Btw, you just made me remember a OAV where these old scientists (drawn using real life scientists as models, I remember an Einstein lookalike) put together a spaceship which uses the "ether" to travel and get to the moon or mars years before official nasa missions, nothing too fancy but a quite nice anime.
Can't remember the title though D:Spirit of Wonder: The Scientific Boys Club was the title, the first 2 OAV.

Hmm, the description almost sounded familiar but I've never seen or heard of a show with an Einstein lookalike and using ether as travel...
Gunna drop Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Bubblegum Crisis OVAs, Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Dominion Tank Police, Full Metal Panic and Martain Successor Nadesico as well... if even one of these shows grabs the giveaway host's interest... we've succeeded. :P
Edit: Glad you found the name, guess I'll go check it out now lol!

Personal taste: mechas = Code Geass, Gundam 00, M3, Eureka 7; escaping from paradide (someting like that, nice movie); others = Ergo Proxy, No.6, Psycho-Pass
Not sci-fy nor mecha but has some interesing sides of those: last exile
Different kind of sci-fy: Wolf's Rain, Gilgamesh, Trigun

Oh there's also Macross Plus! Even if the Macross series as a whole doesn't appeal to you because singing... Macross Plus isn't remotely on the same tier, it's like an anime Top Gun with gorgeous animation and music....
Also I'm going to re-emphasize Redline again, everyone needs to watch it regardless of tastes. :P

I'm not really into anime, just started watching stuff lately and I haven't watched much. Maybe Kekkai Sensen, if you consider it sci-fi? Tho it's kinda fantastic or sth, dunno.
Thanks anyways.

Thanks for the chance!

I rarely watch anime nowadays, so my suggestion is kinda old:
mecha: Macross Frontier and Evangelion of course
sci-fi: Digimon Tamers
