Yea, sure. Like the aliens in fiction? HELL NO! But SOME life exists. What I don't get is why a lot of people assume it'd have to be on an Earth-like planet that can "sustain life". If we and everything else on Earth need these conditions, why should other lifeforms need them? Personally I think it's possible for extraterrestrial life to exist in anything from the vacuum of space to the core of a star, because we never know what "nature" can cook up. Then again I'm not an expert on biology and physics, but my point still stands- we know EARTH biology and physics...

Of course life and other civilisations exist, we would be very narrow minded to think we are alone in the universe.

The universe is so unbelievable big... I believe there is a greater chance that there are other lifeforms than the chance that there aren't any...

I believe earth is flat and nobody was ever on the Moon.

I don't believe in green guys, but if you take a random pic of night sky there will be around three thousand unseeable galactics. So, there is a one to bilion chance to not any life at all exist in the space.Oh, by the way, universe is growing faster than light.

Oh, it's a lot more than 3000 galaxies in one random portion of space.
Hubble Ultra Deep Field. That image contains an estimated 10000 galaxies, and that was taken through a patch of seemingly empty space the size of a 1mm x 1mm bit of paper held at 1m from your eye. 1mm x 1mm is pretty darn tiny, before you hold it arms reach, in comparison to the size of space.

I'm sure there is another "Earth" out there, somewhere in one of those billion galaxies. This is probably the reason we launched the Voyager Golden Record into space in the 70's. Just in case some extraterrestrial life is out there somewhere.

Every white or yellow dot on the Hubble Ultra Deep Field is a galaxy, that's implies that there is metric fuck-ton of galaxies out there, typically with 10^7 -> 10^14 stars. That's a lot of stars, and consequently a lot of planets that could have life on them.
TL;DR: Yep, I reckon there is life out there, and we are likely not the most advanced life form either (much as we like to think we are).

Great picture, it gives us an idea of how huge the universe may be!

I wouldn't say boring, but life can indeed seem pointless if you have nothing to believe in and I think that's something religion can solve. Believing in extraterrestrial life is just interesting but doesn't give you something to live for.

Oh please, there are more similarities than you think. People who believe in extra terrestrials can be very extreme. And I doubt it takes very much to make them extreme. A lack of attention in their lives, an interest in science fiction that turns into an obsession. There are lots of people who enjoy living in a fantasy world that is even more extreme than the major religions out there. They want to be the protector of earth or the one person who has first contact with an alien species. Although not as extreme as religion, they still take it very seriously.

There's evidence to suspect that all life on earth may have begun on Mars. So we may all be extraterrestrial life

I think the bigger question is, supposing there is life out there intelligent enough to listen to us, is it wise for us to be advertising our presence? Who knows what could have come out of evolution on an alien world?

I believe that in all probability there is, but we probably won't come in contact with any extraterrestrial life forms in my lifetime so it really doesn't matter that much to me.

Let future generations worry about intergalactic warfare :P

I do.
Do you believe we can shoot aliens?
I do.
Do you believe that, if other civilizations actually exist, they have what we call hallways as part of their architectural culture?
Probably not.
My guess is they have something like hallways but with crazy lights and stuff, like this.
EDIT: Giveaways ended long ago but I like the interesting discussion going on so I'll leave the thread open.
