Prior: some formula 1 game for the playstation. My dad never played it and it was bought for him. Huge waste of money. Rollercoaster tycoon 3 - i played it just not enough. Not enough new things to play with made it boring.
Now: Fifa 13 somewhat. I like the career mode but it's not completely to my satisfaction, simply simulating makes your good team d not so good quite a lot. + Crash crash crash at release.

What are your regretful buys?

Oh I have, but L4D2 is junk in my book. How such junk can get so much praise is beyond me.

I'm thinking the same :/. No atmosphere, just running around and doing simple tasks

Pre-Ordered Dragon Age 2 after playing Dragon Age 1 = will never ever again pre-order a game. Waste of money, waste of time.

Orc Must Die 1 & 2, Payday - The Heist (too tiresome, too long to finish a heist), Red Orchestra 2 (one whole mess - for many reasons),
Adventures of Shuggy (bs perfect timing, repetitive, no quicksave, gamer unfriendly) - looks fun turns out too hard for non genre players
Block That Matter (bs perfect timing, repetitive, no quicksave, gamer unfriendly) - looks fun turns out too hard for non genre players
Chaos Theory (repetitive, no quicksave, gamer unfriendly),
Diamond Dan (abysmal camera, repetitive, score punishment)
Droplitz ( ridiculous score requirements, too quick stuff drops too fast) - looks fun turns out too hard for non genre players
Lightfish - I lost interest quick
Magnetis - score oriented - all it has to offer is beating scores (not my type, my bad)
Spectraball - abysmal camera, too hard for non genre player
Snapshot - (repetitive, no quicksave)
Tidalis - too many tactics/techniques to max out score, it looks like simple fun thing, but turns out to be way more sophisticated - it requires devotion from a player to master all way of maxing out score
Zero - (repetitive, no quicksave)

My bad for not making a detailed research. I only blame myself.
