16 Jun 2007 ATI Half-Life 2: Deathmatch / Half-Life 2: Lost Coast Promo
My first purchase was: 6 Jan 2008 Peggle Deluxe. That was thanks to Peggle Extreme being made available for free a few months before that (and bundled with the Orange Box). What an addictive game.
The licenses and subscriptions tab shows "Half-Life Platinum Pack" between the ATI promo and the Peggle Deluxe purchase (it's not listed on the purchases list).

Orange Box too. I remember knowing absolutely nothing about any of those games. I was told Half-Life 2 was an amazing experience, and I had absolutely no idea what TF2 was. Gaming was something different when I was younger. It's something I can't explain, but I just found TF2 so mysterious xD As for portal. well. My head exploaded

6 Sep 2011 Learning with Portals(Free) as first registered event(although i did have some keys there before)
28 May 2012 The Binding Of Isaac with Soundtrack, Binding of Isaac Wrath of the Lamb(5,38€) as first paid one.
Funny enough, I've started with buying keys from other websites, such as Amazon before I made a single Steam Store purchase, I got Borderlands GOTY, and Bioshock 1&2 from Amazon a couple days before I first bought from steam.

First purchase was The Orange Box (retail box copy too).
I had previously played things like the Half-Life games on my brother's account, but since it was on sale for $20 and we wanted separate TF2 accounts I figured it was time to get my own.

Click here to go to your Steam account.
Click on Store Transactions, then click See All. Scroll to the bottom of this list.
What's the first entry?
Mine is:
May 20, 2010 Portal - Complimentary (Opt In)
They had a free week of Portal. Everyone who downloaded Portal for free that week got to keep the full game for free, forever.
My first purchase through Steam was The Orange Box. I saw it on sale and remembered my little brother (divorced family, bleh) saying that he played a lot of Half-Life before he joined the US Army. I figured I should see what all the hype is about.
Feel free to tell everyone a little bit about that first entry.
