Got two rules: first, make wishlist of MUST-HAVES, then only buy those MUST-HAVES or games that are on at least -75%.
If it wasn't on wishlist, that means it probably won't be played until Winter Sale anyway :P

nope - I simply treat my wishlist as the full time price tracker - i put anything that seems even mildly intresting into it so I get notifications to email every time something goes to sale ;p
And to reorganize this whole mess before every major sale seems like too much hassle ;p

1st thing of all, I'm way pass searching through main page for deals on a daily basis, 2nd - sure big AAA titles or popular indies will get posted on main page as well as they will be noticeable on SG, but more niche/obscure ones may as well don't. That's why it's nice to have such a notification ;) Plus as I check my email at least twice a day I can always just spend extra 5 seconds to look if anything is on sale there - then checking through gaben spam will be faster then digging through main page ;p

Even 75% off isn't necessarily enough for me, depending on the "base price" they're using. South Park is still listed as $39.99, so even 75% off would be $10, which is too much for a short game. I could buy a console version, beat it, and resell it for that.
I think if Grim Fandango, GTA V or Lucasarts Adventure Pack went half off, I'd have to buy them. But other than that, a minimum of 75% off.

it all depends on size of your backlog ;) In my case unless it's a game that heavily relies on multiplayer (the sooner you join the better experience) or one that I'm extremely hyped for - there's no need to buy anything at -50%. Before it's very likely that before I manage to play it it will go to -66% or -75% anyway ;p

Well, you need to pay 5€ to be able to trade, sell on the market, etc. If the game is under 5€, many people will play CS:GO without a full Steam account, it's pretty messed up. You are a free-to-play user playing a payed game, that's mindf-ing.

They don't really offer a bigger discount, because the game is too well-known, and after every - simple - sale the number of cheaters rise quite a lot. If there would be a deeper discount, every cheater would just store a few dozens of copies and continue every time they get banned. (Don't forget, CSGO got region lock before it got implemented on every game - it was said on reddit that the players asked Valve to do this, to prevent the cheap copies for cheaters/hackers)

Blackguards Franchise = 8.24 @ 85% (BG1 + DLC + BG2) - Possible glitch (extra discount for extra stuff).
And on the other side of the coin, Agarest 2 Flash sale @ 66% now lets the customer save an entire -3.03 with the Agarest Franchise bundle. That's negative $3, as in you pay more. But hey, it's a glitch, go at it!
