*What does the average S.Gifts user PC look like?
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't have the energy to get out my camera right now, so I'll post a couple of links to some stock pics of 'em instead. My desktop and the laptop that I use
Everything looks so fucking sweet on my Vaio's lovely screen, though all-in-ones like that aren't the best for running a lot of newer games maxed out. I often have to dial things down a bit if I want to enjoy a newer AAA title. But it does do movies and photos perfectly. :p
Yours looks pretty neat, by the way. I love the blue LEDs.

Somebody mistook their keyboard for a Wiimote I see.

That... that's so beautiful. ;_; You're making my computer feel self-conscious.

Oldish pictures of my current setup which is still a work in progress and was a NZXT Apollo case until I made holes and ripped things out :D Paint job needs doing, horrible green fan in the front needs replacing with a nice slim one, GPU needs to be watercooled (I'm poor) and some cables need rebraiding (I'm lazy). She's not as grand as some computers but I still love her :3
Comment has been collapsed.
How do you think I feel. I have to sit next to that every day, with my generic box built out of Stelio's cast offs.
Comment has been collapsed.
I imagine her cast offs, are still not that bad, looking at her setup :D
Comment has been collapsed.
:D My modded cast offs consist of cables and fans but sadly you can't see them because they're stuck in a black box from novatech I bought 7 years ago. One hell of a sturdy case! I'll build Shep a nice modded case at some point. Mine gets to be finished first!

Ooooohhhh, glowy. Makes me wish I had the time and energy to make a custom rig. :o

Like this. when it's off, display looks funny when on

Oh my God. i never looked at it that way.... Aerocool.... i love it :D

Next time i find the time to build a custom pc case, i build E.D.I From ME 3
yes... where is my welding thingy again... :D
Comment has been collapsed.
okay... i want to doom one puny planet, and you go galaxy wide destruction me?
that hurts a bit.
Comment has been collapsed.
reminds me of some other projects i wanted to do, i just don't find the time for that :(
now i want a cardboard reaper, and i want you to make it :P
Comment has been collapsed.
right now, i am doing some quick engineering work to line out the specs, than i'll see if i actually will build a lifesize EDI pc case. finally a challenge :D
Comment has been collapsed.
wouldn't be too hard, it has to be lifesize so you don't see it's a pc case, built in wireless connectors for mouse and keyboard i can build in some speakers too...
i have to find some way of wirelessly transmitting a video signal though.. or i'll put her on a small socket.
I used to do this kind of stuff during my university time, paid me a few lunches.

Does trying to smack enemies on my screen and occasionally walking across my keyboard (thus getting me killed) count as gaming? If so, she is very much a gamer.
Comment has been collapsed.
But I got it from Amazon for way less than what Sony wanted. ;_;
...It was actually cheaper than a Qosmio I looked at with lesser specs.
Comment has been collapsed.
what would sony charge for generic hardware in a fancy case anyway? i haven't bothered with them as a computer manufacturer since 2006. And most important... is it as badass as it looks?
Comment has been collapsed.
This one is no longer being produced, but I think at that point they wanted maybe... eh, $1500 or so the way this was configured. I didn't pay that and got it shipped overnight. :p
Specs lazily copy-pasted off my profile:
2.2 GHz Intel Core i7-2670QM (3.1 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology; 6 MB L3 cache)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M (1 GB)
6 GB DDR3 RAM
640 GB SATA hard drive (7200 RPM)
16.4" display (1920x1080 resolution)
Comment has been collapsed.
oh well ^^ i like my laptops small ^^ i usually don't use them to play on them :) that thing looks like it can do some stuff :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Always forgetting to mention it auto-overclocks to 3.1 GHz as well. >.< Edited.
But yeah, I've yet to meet much that doesn't run smoothly (an exception being, oddly enough, Miner Wars). And I can't stand being without my main computer wherever I go (and leaving my games! D: Nooo ;_;), so I decided to pour my money into a gaming laptop instead of gaming desktop + cheap laptop.
Comment has been collapsed.
that never worked out for me, too well, so i canned trying to compromise, and go with a dell XPS 14 as a notebook, and my selfbuilt gaming rig ^^ and for the super couch potato websurfing there's still my galaxy tab, and my smartphone if i don't want to reach to the other corner of the table.
Comment has been collapsed.
She probably makes the laptop look badass, but shh...! We don't want it to hear that and bluescreen on me, do we? D:

I think she learned to read. :( After I saw this, she started posing and gnawing on my camera.

More than one person on a gaming forum who doesn't dislike Sony? :O Impossible!
high fives

Then here she is again. :3 I'm always bothering her when she's sleeping since it's the only time she'll sit still. She's huge but she's actually only about 6 months old. ._.
Comment has been collapsed.
okay... i hated those things back when i worked for dell.
you found them in all kind of places they didn't belong to.
Comment has been collapsed.
they are nice, as long as you use them in your home environment and don't expect alienware performance. but some customers liked to use them as cash registers hooked up to SAP Databases and all kinds of stuff they simply weren't designed for (like being hit with a hair dryer repeatedly)
Comment has been collapsed.
...a hair dryer? lol Dare I ask how they thought that would fix it?
Comment has been collapsed.
not at all. we plainly refused the repair. the machines were not built to withstand any kind of hitting.
except of course they paid for the repair. and after hearing that price... well you just buy a new one and save some money.
Comment has been collapsed.
...That might be the only nice part about doing something like that for a living - you can refuse repairs. Now imagine you have a certain family member who literally downloads everything (and deletes AV programs - why??), lets the machine get so filthy the fans actually smell odd, managed to knock off keys just typing, has it boot with a DVD drive error despite only using it to playback video (not even burn :/)... This thing has gotten to the point of not booting about... 3 times in just one month. ._.
Comment has been collapsed.
hmm... it literally screams for a mercy killing. or at least a proper clean up of the hardware and reinstalling of operating systems. and murdering said family member.
i could imagine it's your dad.
Comment has been collapsed.
Quite close indeed - it's my stepdad. lol
Thank goodness my mom's an ex-engineer, so she takes care of her machines.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hehe ^^ whenever i hear this, it's always the male parent ^^ never the women, that's odd ^^
also, when i compare my girlfriends computer to her dads computer... same thing.
He screws everything up, she doesn't.

Thats My PC
Infos about whats inside are on my Steam Profile.

yeahh i like the badges... that all are badges from the companys that i have stuff or that was inside like the gtx 275. Nowi have a GTX560
and the real gaming logo is made by my self... its original jägermeister :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Ahhh nice :D It's like a little memorial to past hardware :3
Nice work on the logo :) I once made a stencil and used spray frosting stuff to give a side window a nice etched effect. Came out great except that I managed to glue my sock to the floor with the spray adhesive I used! That shit is strong!
Comment has been collapsed.
That's the case
Inside there's a Q6600 + Micro ATX Asus P5E-VM HDMI + GTS 8800

Cooler Master Storm Scout
Edit: Pics be old, I'm stuck with a laptop until June and it's too shitty to brag about. I miss my Lithium (what kinda loser doesn't name their computer?)
Comment has been collapsed.
I thought I was the only one who did name theirs. >.>
Comment has been collapsed.
you aren't, I call mine Carlos, I like mexican names for some reason
Comment has been collapsed.
yeah my case already has holes to hide the cables behind the motherboard tray, I just haven't used them yet :D
Comment has been collapsed.
great, no i am too embarrassed to show my cablemanagement. :(
i can't even think of closing my case :(
Comment has been collapsed.
rather not, wiring 6 Hard Drives, 2 Optical Drives and various other things create an awfully complex system of wires that hates to be moved. also i am afraid it may have developed a consciousness and tries to eat me when i get too close.
Comment has been collapsed.
i don't have a floppy or zip drive built in anymore, if i need one, i hook those up via USB.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's truly sad. even though it was a brilliant format at the time, it was never really used, now that we have SD cards, if more people had used it back then, we could have like terabyte zipdisks by now.
Comment has been collapsed.
yes, and i wouldn't power 1200 Watts in to a 12 Terabyte storagearray to keep all my vintage software available. sigh
Comment has been collapsed.
This thread makes me want to build my own ._. and make it look good - I even go to the sites that let you choose components for a custom build etc. and put together builds xD (but only when I'm really procrastinating). But I can't afford to. Nor would it be practical. I could have it at home and not play during term time or not have it over the holidays and play during term.
Getting by with a laptop at the minute: here. It's not brilliant, it's a high-performance 'media' laptop but it does gaming alright despite what this site says.
Comment has been collapsed.
No problem. For some reason that's just the way this site does links. shrug I don't know why.
Comment has been collapsed.
Too lazy to take pics but this is my case http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/crafted_series/vulcan (idk how to make a clicky) and on the inside, got a radeon hd 6850, a quad core amd athlon, 8gb crucial ram, 500gb hdd, and a 500 watt psu
Comment has been collapsed.
Hahaha yeah it kinda does :P so what does yours look like atm?
Comment has been collapsed.
It's posted a bit earlier on in this thread :) The outer shell is essentially the same but I ripped out the 2.5inch cage, moved the HDD cage up and roated 90 degrees. Ripped out most of the cables for the front panel audio and usb because I never use them and added my a few holes to route cables through.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah nice, you're the guy with the awesome neon green stuff :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for next time I post a link on these forums :)
