also, how do you determine which one is the closest match?? seems like a pretty boring job for me
EDIT: didn't read that you're a programmer. what language do you usually use??

The rules for how it's determined are in the OP. It wouldn't really take that long to do this manually with only 100 entries, but it's easier to write a quick script that'll do it for me.

I'm not much of a coder, but for game development I tend to use C++, for websites and quick scripts like for this I tend to use PHP.

Do you know that Humble Bundle codes aren't fully random? I mean there is an algorithm to generate those. As far as I know it generates 10 pseudo-random characters 5 are later recompiled to mark which pack is it for (which is not constant for entire pack - it is calculated based on the 10 characters earlier) and last one is checksum. They are placed in order two random, one pack ID repeated 5 times and checksum in the end. I do not have entire thing worked out - but I can exclude over half of the codes as invalid.
Which doesn't meant the thing in this case because I can have a perfectly valid code with 0 correct characters and someone can have something like "welcome to Jamaica, have a nice day" in L33ts sp3ak. and hit 9 out of 16.

I usually poke into those kinds of things so I feel silly for not having paid much attention to that before, though I guess it wouldn't really be enough to change the odds by a meaningful amount. It's interesting to see the variety of entries people make for something like this. I'd definitely hoped for some 1337 speak and stuff like that, and I'm not disappointed. :)

GAME OVER!
Congrats to dreamndust, who won with 2 correct characters. The code was XquNXvmvFSkHpATV.
Original message follows, but please don't post any more guesses. :)
What is this?:
I'm giving away my last Risk of Rain gift before it expires (also because it's an awesome game), usually I do some kind of puzzle, but giving you the gift code seems to make things too easy, so I thought I'd have you guess it instead. Don't worry, closest guess is good enough, and I'm limiting it to 100 entries. 1% chance is better than most giveaways. :)
A humble gift code (which goes after https://www.humblebundle.com/gift?key=) is 16 characters, alphanumeric and case sensitive. As an example, here's a spare Teleglitch: KeDhxHUa5we8t7BR
Rules:
1 guess per person.
Your guess must be unique. If for some reason two or more people post the same guess, the first, non-edited guess counts.
For this reason, don't edit your guess. If you make a mistake, delete and repost.
Your guess must be a 16 character code.
Your guess must be a direct reply to this topic (not a reply to another message)
Only the first 100 valid replies qualify, or if we don't reach that number, all entries made before 12 noon GMT today (24th).
Closest will be determined by the number of correct characters in the correct position. This is case sensitive, so you don't get a point for 'a' if the character is 'A'. There are no points for correct characters in the wrong position. If there's a tie, then whoever guessed the earliest correct character that the other tied players didn't wins (for example, using the Teleglitch code above, Kooooooooooooooo would beat ooDooooooooooooo, or KoDooooooooooooo would beat KooooHoooooooooo). If nobody manages to guess a single character right, then whoever guessed first wins, but don't count on it. :)
Edit: Realised this didn't cover everything, so an addendum: If there's still a tie with the same correct characters, then the earlier guess wins.
Suggested strategy:
Tap the shift key on and off while hitting your keyboard with your head. Replace any invalid characters with the nearest valid one.
Good luck!
