A city simulator. Not like sim city, or the sims, but just a simulation of a whole city. You can play a random citizen and do WHATEVER you want. It should be able to simulate every tiny aspect of a city (interiors, realistic economy, citizens' individual minds, everything), without any single goal. What would you do there?

The ultimate sandbox

I'd rip off game dev tycoon, but implement into this game that piracy mechanic that gamedev tycoon bafflingly reserved for the pirates. why would you seal away an entire part of the game where you get hounded to extinction by pirates or be forced to become ea and reserve that content only for those who stole from you rather than your loyal buyers? :( toned way down of course so its actually winnable. maybe as a hardmode?

I like the whole puzzle game splicing concept that has been happening and would love to see that implemented into roguelike-like scenario. For example:
Tetris type gameplay with difficulty increasing much faster than a typical game of tetris. Clearing two lines unlock items that can be used in game, such as momentary slow falling blocks or block zapping. Other mechanics can be added for progression purposes (i.e. rpg elements)

ok here we go. My dream game is a RPG style combat in a large MMO map. There are 5 worlds, interconnected only with portals, they are the following:

1) Medieval world
2) Protoss and Zerg like world
3) A School like setting (The first world you spawn with, like a tutorial like map but the trading center is there)
4) Hellish world
5) Post apocalyptic world

Gameplay: A MMO style exploration with 4 head rules in each civilization, the population of each civilization vote for their ruler. The ruler controls how the money is distributed (through sales tax on shops and trades) to guild leaders. The guild leaders then handle how to distribute the money to its members to buy upgrades and stuff. The ruler can also wage war or make an aliance to a certain civilization, BUT, he cannot wage a war in the school world (non pvp area). When the ruler wage war on a opposite civilization, the guild masters must adhere to the ruler and fight for him.

Combat system: Fire emblem style combat, but not in every turn. There is an action gauge, the sooner you make your move, the less the action cost depending on the skill. The actions are immediately performed, but there will be a summary screen when everyone has depleted their action gauge. Then there will be a 3 minute break right after the summary screen appears for strategizing.

Some cool features: The 4 civilization can only understand their chat with each other on the non-pvp world (school), but when they are visiting on another world or someone is visiting their own world, the chat will just some jibberish. Winning civilization after a war gets a portion of the defeated civilization depending on the ratio of economy of both parties. Random events on the world depending on the civilization you are in, example: Alien invasion on the protoss/zerg like world, epidemic on the medieval world, meteor crash on the post-apocalyptic world, weather rampage by gods in the hellish world.

BG Story: You start at the school world, you learn that humans had a big world war which resulted to a massive population loss, 4 nations survived and migrated to space. each splitted into 4 separate worlds they settled in. After 1500 years, the 4 nations is having some problems(alien invasion, natural calamities, god untervention, etc) with each on their own world and thus cooperated to create a new generation of humans, Where peace reigns. They each send their children to this new world (the school world setting) to train and teach them the history and what they must do.

After I played Aion/GW2 for ~2-3months each I lost the interest in MMOGs, but I like the idea so here is a little:

Well I always wanted an MMO game with high amount of freedom. Most real-life like as possible:

  • being able to be only a crafter/shopman if you only want to. Probably it needs some ideas but well crafting can be a kind of mini game, very profitable, probably I would like to give crafters some special support abilities (idk but probably I would make something like disabling traps require knowledge about metals, engines etc so 'normal' players wont know that but smiths or engineers will do it) so even if they cannot fight properly on their own they are necessary in party so others will take them party so they can gather materials on their own.

  • not hard-coded skills etc. Ofcourse you would be able to learn basic fireball or magic sparks but more interesting effects you will gain combining random effects of random spells so that you will get fireball splashing into smaller balls after hitting something etc (something like in PoE but at greater scale).
  • Finding random wandering trainers/wizards that will learn you their rare tricks so maybe you will be the only one knowing that skill or fight style.
  • Probably would implement some kind of living world so there are global quests like clear dungeon to unlock 'next land' make current one safer so people will have to go in a large group probably work all together but well I want to give them even more freedom so they can betray each other and just before finishing boss kill their previous teammates.
  • Destroyable envirnoment - well world should be destroyable I believe to make traps for monsters, being able to trap bosses.
  • Probably I would do something like skipping character level or make it really low-significant because I want to encourage people to go to 'next land' after completing the global quest - I mean something like "Now you have cleared that land so its now safer so you can have your house in that land, crafters can freely gather resources (their fighting abilities would be almost enough), maybe some heroes who dont like risking would be of use but most of you should move forward". Which implies that lower level players should be able to live in that new world.
  • because of the above I want my game to be a lot of skill based so that only your skills, time spent on trainings and cleverness matters.
  • cant really decide about basic rules. Probably would like to start with something like rock era with ppl fighting only with sticks and stones, proceeding into medieval era, by studying the world will discover magic and alchemy, then steam era with higher influence of crafters and engineers, new weapons like pistols, then modern era with physics, chemistry/etc. Once again. As real-life like as possible. No hard code, everything up to what players discover on their own, with maybe a little help of NPCs. Everything as fluent as possible no sudden revolutions in world so players can adapt and feel that their small research pushed the world into new direction
  • no classes, do what you want but that will probably definate your role/class somehow. You cant be crafter and fight sword really well at the same time i.e. You can be a scout with high perception that scouts dungeons, gather infos about bosses observe them analyze their skills and then maybe sell that info to players who want to clear the dungeon
  • I want hard-hitting death, like losing everything and losing at least part of your memory so ppl wont rush at mobs mindlessly, they need strategize

Random generated world realistic graphics, huge map (galaxy), where the items you get won't give you advantages, only appearance, and you are good if you have skills. Many gamemodes: Tactical S&D, S&D, TDM Tac. TDM, CTF, Tac. CTF, and others. Servers in the WHOLE world, so no one lags!

English isn't my native language so I hope that you'll understand all of this post. Here's the idea for the game - everything is from the first person to associate you with character.. We are playing for some regular guy, who goes for a work, standing in a traffic jam and other boring stuff. But it's not interesting (we can't even know the name of these guy), we see his life in short grey and depressive cutscenes 5-10 second long between levels just to show what is his life is.. We start playing every night when he goes to sleep, in his dreams. Every dream is special - war in COD style, bank robbery, space travel, date with a beautiful girl on Eiffel Tower, drug trip.. Any idea will be good for these, because it are dreams everything is possible... But after 3-4 dreams bright and good dreams start to become dark and horrible in the middle of them (When you starting go to kiss the girl on tower she become horrible "beast" and trying to catch you, for example), but the next dream is ok.. After time and dreams nightmares start to begin earlier and earlier (with the "beast" in every of them but can run away from it every time) and in the end of the game we see nightmare from beggining and can't wake up... We go through level, meet the beast, bu it kills us anyway and we see funeral and the message that it was heart stop in dream... And there is go credits...
I think this is something like an interactive game from first person.. Beautiful and interesting tragedy of one man with boring life, but interesting and beautiful dreams...

There is a lot of beutiful and enjoyable levels through the game. Dreams are great! But they will become nightmares in some time. Differnce between beautiful view of Paris and horrible places in nightmare will play it's role, you'll remember it for long time... Bad end is required to story for being complete... We are not interesting in his past.. We are not interesting in his nowday life either.. Only dreams are interesting for us and his death in real life will be only interesting thing for us in his real life, because now we can't go through his dreams, they're dead with him...

Conceptually, very interesting, can't say I like the sad ending, but I like playing games and blowing up whatever I find wrongs me, so to each their own. Maybe make it possible, just extremely hard, but like I said, to each their own.

Would be really good especially if you can find a way to make the dream portions as interesting and/or enjoyable as the nightmare.

I also have to mention, I used to have a bunch of nightmares, where something was rummaging around my house, although this was like a dream house that in reality never exists, and I hear it and have to check it out. I know it will go after me, I know it wants to eat me, but I have to try to look anyway. I never see the thing, it notices me, and chases after me, yelling "FOOD FOOD!!" I was young, but it would really scare me. Don't miss it.

A micro-management war simulator. I'm not sure if it's been done yet, but an extremely hectic game where you need to manage all of your stationed troops at war- AT THE SAME TIME. Imagine how man times that map would be clicked!

I will create some type of Hitman+GTA+Mass Effect+Sid Meier's Civilization, an open world game that let you finish your quests in different ways having relationships with a lot of different game characters and let you be and do whatever do you want to be in the world, living in an old era, the present, the future (if you select the past or present it will advance with some type of clock system like Sid Meier's Civilization Games or if players want to, it can take months to go from the past to the present and years later, the future but, you will need to have some type of family because if you don't have one and your character dies when he is old, the game ends and you will have to create other savegame), an apocalypse, or a fantasy world with different type of combat systems, character customization and lots of quest or side stories (trying to don't make them boring).

The team could also add if people want it 32 or more players Co-Op, it will use a realistic engine that let destroy buildings and other stuff, using realistic illumination and probably it will have a large world map and will let you travel to other planets if you are in the future and scientists and engineers created a space ship (you will need to train astronaut skills to go to space) to travel at the speed of light because our solar system doesn't have life in it excepting the humans or the species you've chosen.

But of course, there could be hostile life out there, so you can upgrade your ship with some type of new gun (it is the future, everything is upgraded, lol) that could be fired at space or things like that. If you arrive at a unkwnown planet, you will have to convince or persuade the planet leader or president if he doesn't like you in some way (he/she/it could be racist or just doesn't like new life in his planet), stay in the planet and try diplomacy with the leader/president to improve the relationship.

Basically, I could explain a lot but I think it could be boring, if you would like more things to tell, I can do that. Hope that game is ok, but it will cost a lot of money, lol.

P.S: I edited it a bit, if you readed it before read it again, I changed some things :P

Helf Life 3, because we know we should not wait for Valve to do that u.u

But joke apart, I would make a zombie survival based on building your base and getting survivors to help you and work on it, something like the old weird game called Fort Zombie.
You would need to go around the city(s) to scavenger resources as food, medicine, weapow, ammo, and to look for survival, and need to be carefull to not atract a horde to your base, if you fail to do it you would need to protect the place along with your fellow survivors. Maybe at some point you would get in contact with another survival societies, some friendly other not so, and would be able to trade with them, resources and useful member of your team, and even raid hostile ones or be yourselve the hostile one and raid everyone else, of course with the problem of friendly ones become hostile to you also in that case.

Edit: BTW if anyone know something like that, let me know!

It would have to be an online game. Since you'd play it on the internet, it would therefore have to include cats, cars, trolls and fanboys.

So, the game is as follows: you're a cat. You drive cars around, and are attacked by zombie trolls and fanboys (zombies are a popular theme now). There are also guns involved, but just to piss the fanboys off, guns have recoil (gasp!). Therefore, they can never actually hit you and just keep screaming obscenities.

Basically, I'm talking Catmageddon. Open world, fast cars, fast meows, lots and lots of blood when you run over zombie trolls and fanboys.

I always was dreaming about an open world rpg on a REAL city. Every single corner gonna be there in game but you gonna play as new one. There will be no quests or something else just to live life (starting age doesn't matter but selectable min. age gonna be 6-7 ofc). It also would be more epic that, gonna update game every week to make city up-to-date :D -City gonna be mine decision btw ;P

I've always wanted to make a sort of single player fantasy mmorpg. You'd mostly play the game single player but there would be a highscores table for skills (the game would run server side to prevent cheating) and there would be certain areas like minigames and trading areas where you would play against/with other players. The concept would be that each player is in an alternate dimension and there is a world between all dimensions where all the mmorpg content would occur.

This would let the game have some really great quests because we wouldn't have to worry about how the world changes so we could really go all out with branching storylines and so on. For example, you could destroy an entire kingdom or you could choose to help expand its borders and your choices would affect later quests. Since it would be subscription based we could release new quests and features regularly and I would have a new game+ mode so you could go back and redo all the quests differently without losing your levels. As far as the non-quest gameplay goes it would kind of be like a mix between Elder Scrolls and RuneScape.
