Do you think Admin is doing an amazing job?
If people want to 'support' they can choose to disable Adblock themselves on this site or you can just raise awareness about doing so. Regardless of anything else, I do not like the idea of taking choice out of people's hands and forcing ads on them.

That's why I put "consider disabling" in the title. If you read through comments you will see that many people did not even know that:
a) this site has ads
b) adblocker has an option to whitelist certain sites
No one is forcing anything on anyone :)

Well that's not the impression that I got from your original post before you edited it. It sounded like you were speaking of forcing ads on everyone in some way and were directing it as suggestion towards the staff to implement it . My apologies if I misunderstood but that's honestly what I got from it initially.

This was the only thing I added/edited. I did not change original post:
Edit: Screens show AdBlock in Google Chrome because it's a most common combination (I think). If you use a different browser or/and blocker just look through settings and you will find something similar. Don't forget to whitelist entire domain (steamgifts.com) and not just a single page.
No, I am most definitely not forcing ads on anyone. I am totally ok with people blocking ads because they can be annoying. I am not even sure if admin wants more people to see and click on ad banner (but I assume why not?).
Anyways, it looks like it was just a misunderstanding :)

Forgot to address this:

No, definitely not suggesting this. Everyone (including me) would hate if they add a bunch of ad banners and other shit. One on the other hand (as it is right now) does not hurt.

And done. Never thought about it before. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! :)

I never use adblock. I have been earning money with Youtube and ads = all the money. I don't mind ads unless they are the ones that pop up all over the screen, but I haven't seen those in a few years. If I can enjoy a video or browse Steamgifts and bring some money to someone just for doing it, why not?

As a fun fact, looking at sgtools numbers divergence from adsense page views and google analytics page views I can see that the ratio of people using an ad blocker is around 60 - 70%.
I guess a lot of people doesn't even know that they Steamgifts does have ads.

I don't have ad block. I think my browser is faster without ad block.
I just don't enter on sites with annoying ads.
Annoying ads = pop up ads, sound ads, 90% of the page with ads.
If a web site have a lot of ads it doesn't respect the readers, so stop using that site. It is the only way to protest.

Having déjà vu right now…
Well, I guess the previous thread did not have the most descriptive of subjects set for it.

I've had adblocker off on SG for at least half a year now, probably more. yay CG!

Great suggestion, it's a very small thing we can do to help.

Displaying ads should generate a little revenue (drop in a bucket really), clicking ads is what counts. As I mentioned above you cannot click an ad if it is not being displayed and I don't want to ask everyone to spam ad clicks because Google may not like it. If you see something interesting, click that ad!

You are right, i checked my ad sense, un clicked ads generate next to nothing, i'm not about to click ads though when they have the potential to take you to a dodgy site that might give you malware spyware or a virus and not have my ad block activated, its not sg we have to worry about but more the person who paid to advertise on that spot, they could be ruthless, who knows :D, i really dont wanna set myself up for something like that, although if there was a donation page i would donate for sure :)

Only a handful of websites where I have ads disabled, and SG is one of them. Most sites don't seem to understand the benefits of unobtrusive ads (Those auto-play ads, or those that cover half the screen... for the love of god...)

Most of us use AdBlock (or similar extensions) because ads are stupid and annoying. However, they generate revenue.
Since cg does not want to accept donations (which makes me love and respect him even more) let's at least disable adblock on this site. It is just one small banner anyway.
Running the site that we all love is not cheap and on top of that it is being constantly upgraded and improved.
If you don't mind please bump this post so other people would see it.
See screenshots below. Click "Don't run on pages on this domain" in AdBlock settings.
