What I sent to Steam Support Actually :
P.S. sorry for mistakes but it was in french and I don't have time to manually translate it lol;
"Good evening,
I find an inequality in the Steam system. I would like to have a discussion with a Valve (TM) manager.
Indeed, I find the possibility of canceling an exchange that is considered unequal after a finished exchange, a violation of the user's rights. It is his right to cancel the exchange if After all seemed bad (high value item for a low one) ** Within a time limit set by Valve (TM) (example: 24 Hours). This system is similar to that of waiting for exchanges if we do not have a "Steam Guard Mobile" system activated for at least 7 days (which is 15 days), which differentiates the latter from the system Valve owes 'Impose for a short time (It will be called "Chargeback" similar to Paypal's Payback (TM) system) is that:
1- The system will be short-lived (in fact the user will soon realize its error.) We're human despite the security one can fall into the trap.
2- The items will be in the inventory of the each other. As a normal exchange with possibility of "Chargeback" within 24 hours max.

** Benefits of the system:
1- Increased security of the Steam system. This would significantly reduce the number of scams in trade (this is completely logical)

2- This Does not reduce the Valve (TM) economy "No addition / deletion of item. The number of items will remain the same.

3- This would attract more and more players to initiate exchanges (especially those who get scammed and left it) ** This will be very beneficial to the economy of Valve (TM)

Finally,
Please invite me to initiate a thorough negotiation on the subject with a Valve (TM) manager. I'm sure this is going to be beneficial to the players and Valve (TM). Please apply it. With my sincere salutations. I appreciate you work on the platform, Steam is magic, make it more!

Original Msg :
Bonsoir,

Another solution would be for scammers to have their hands cut off.
You'd probably only have to do this a few times and post the pictures on the steam store page background.
Scamming would probably be reduced by a few percentage points.

This is a solution I would vote for - not just for Steam.

As capital punishment prevents people from committing crimes punishable by death, right? These kind of punishments are based on the fear of getting punished, once that fear goes away so does the intention of not committing the crime.

The only way to prevent individuals from committing a crime, is by teaching them to respect the rules. Any other measure is bound to fail and I think there are multiple examples in history to learn from.

I may have gone a bit off-topic, but hey it's good to do so once in a while :D

False, Valve doesn't get a share from item-for-item trades, but they get if the trade was done by selling to market, and buying from the market. They fight as hard against "trading" even in their trading system as they can :)

Actually, your suggestion is exactly the opposite of helpful. It would facilitate trade scams by removing the protection given by trades being final. And it would bring back the whole mess that Valve tried to move away from by introducing trade hold.

What happened to you wasn't much of a scam. You made a bad trade, in a safe environment, by not looking up the value of the items you were exchanging before accepting it.and your solution is to implement a system where you can screw over other people when you have a case of buyer's regrets.

Let's look at a few scenarios:

1- Sécurité augmentée du système Steam. Cela réduirait de manière importante le nombre d'arnaques dans les échanges (C'est complètement logique)

  • I buy CS:GO keys from a trader in exchange for Paypal funds. The next morning they cancel the trade, get their keys back (while I get nothing) and are free to sell the same keys over and over to unsuspecting users.

  • I trade you 6 CS:GO keys for one of your Dead Cells code plus a few Dota items. I install the game, play a bit and decide it wasn't worth that much to me, so I just cancel the trade. I get my keys back, you get your items and you lose the game.

2- Cela Ne réduit en Rien l'économie de Valve(TM) "Aucun ajout/suppression d'item. Le nombre resteras identique.

  • I trade you a rare knife for a bunch of keys. I use somes keys to open crates, sell an item I got from the crates on the market, trade another item for a bundle game with one person and trade the rest of the keys to some other person for a copy of Doom that I add to my account. The other person sells the key and use the wallet funds to buy a game to a friend. At this point, you come to the conclusion that you made a bad trade and decide to cancel it. Either 6+ persons lose items, wallet funds and games, or Valve has to create new items to replace the ones that are long gone by now in order to avoid too much collateral damage.

3- Ceci attirerais de plus en plus de joueurs a initié des échanges (surtout ceux qui se font arnaqués et l'ont quitté) **Ce Qui sera très bénéfique pour l'économie de Valve(TM)

  • I trade my extra bundle keys for cards, but after being scammed too many times now that the SpeedX EasyScam™ system is in place, I just quit out of frustration. The word is spread about the trading sytem being even less safe now than it was before and that scammers are pretty much running the place, driving more and more people away from trades. Trading pretty much dies (to the joy of Valve who's been trying to kill it completely with their last few changes) and their economy is much better since now they get a cut of every item sold in the Steam marketplace, while they got nothing from trade. With less people trading, sales of in-game items drops, killing the Valve economy. Valve declares bankruptcy, Steam goes down, and 125 million people lose all their games... just because you can't be bothered to look at the value of the items in the transaction you're about to make. (Yes I'm purposedly being over dramatic here)

If you want to safeguard yourself against bad personal decisions, just ask Steam support to add a trade hold to your account at all times, even when you're using the authenticator.

he doesn't need to ask that, simply remove your auth and feel happy with your 14 days (7 days?) trade hold every trade.
simple negative you will get locked always when you cancel, but hey better then screwing everyone else because you can look values of the damn items up that you trade.

one of the worst idea, i read for a long time.

the reason why everyone uses steam mobile is to confirm their trades and not have to wait for their items, this feature is useless and basically a mandatory tradehold. Not only will it be unpopular, but it'll also be detramentory to steam's current state of trading (being bad already)

I think it's completely unnecesarry, if people don't know how to trade then it's their fault and it's not steam's work to pick up after their slack, BUT I believe there is plenty of improvement avaiable to the system. I personally would love the ability to trade game keys reliably, like steam adding a feature (at a price, if need be, e.g. 100 gems per transaction, it would give this useless thing a value and allow for better user experience, maybe even increasing booster pack drops to compensate for a new value sink being added.) that would let a user input a steam-redeemable key into a trade, have the other user see the details of it, and scramble the key after being sent so the first user can't redeem it after trade is done.

This, in addition to bringing back trading games would effectively reinvigorate steam's trading condition, not something that makes all traders suffer for the stupidity of (hopefully) few.

So when i trade something at current market price, for example a dota 2 cosmetic for csgo keys and the cosmetic item seems to bump up in prices within 24 hours, so i can just cancel the trade and get it back, leaving the other person in a complete wtf face ? I don't think it will work .
