Well, I'm bored to the point where I play Cookie Clicker all day... I need a game that I could waste a lot of time in, (Until Febuary 24th) Maybe there are really extreme Skyrim overhauls coming out?

Opinions on some games that have been suggested before:

  • The Elder Scrolls IV: There's just something about the style of the graphics that just doesn't suit me (Very cartoonish, bright and happy :D Looks like Zelda, not that it's a bad game.)

  • Fallout: FPS not my thing :( Maybe I'll get into it, I dunno. Or maybe I should play the "demo"... And then buy it if I liked it.

  • Dark Souls: Fun times man... Fun times...

  • Civilization/All those other strategies: Quite an option actually, I played 5 a little, the "demo". I liked it, but was hard to get into since I have never played strategy games like Civilization before, I'm mostly up for RPGs :P

  • Terraria/Minecraft: Pretty sure I got 4k hours on Minecraft... Those were the days... And I probly have half as much hours in Terraria.

  • Morrowind: An option, hopefully I won't get nightmares after the face models.

  • Dragon Age: Origins: Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but as much as I try, I just can't get into the game. :/

  • Darksiders/Darksiders 2: Thinking of replaying it actually.

  • Borderlands 2: Played too much than I should've over the summer, lel.

So far many of you suggested strategy games, I tried many times to get into them, but sometimes just doesn't happen. I'll probly give them another go. Civ or Total War?

I think I got enthusiasm to play Skyrim again :P Although get your suggestions flowing! Will go for Civ if I get bored.

Any opinions on Two Worlds II?

Also fantasy/medieval

It's not an RPG, but The Binding of Isaac is a wonderful time consumer!
Also, Fallout: New Vegas. I know it looks like a FPS, but it really didn't feel like one to me.

Mount and Blade:Warband, Eador, Heroes of Might and Magic have RPG stats, leveling and consume too much of your precious time.

Try Path of Exile.
It's a free to play title, the last time I played, it was truly FREE (all you could buy were purely cosmetic items and a bit of extra storage capacity).

Many people said Path of Exile is "what Diablo 3 should have been". I can't judge that myself, as I haven't played D3, but PoE is definitelly a pretty decent free to play "diablo clone" with MMO elements :)

Are you talking about games that you never stop playing because they don't end?

Multiplayer games, obviously. Try TF2 or L4D2 or something. Also, anything with user-generated content tends to last a long time.

(this is the part where I shill for Trackmania again.)

Two Worlds 2 was kinda fun, but I played it with another person. We had run out of co op options after borderlands, and dead island, so it was a good multi-player co-op type game. Not sure if I would have picked it up otherwise though. The biggest time sink I have played is World of warcraft... Not a nice thing to suggest but... :) a ton of time can be wasted there. but you have to pay... On Steam the GTA games have kept me busy...

You find Skyrim cartoonish, bright and happy? Don't even try Oblivion, then.
Skyrim graphic resemble sad, obscure and grey land (vanilla of course)

Option 1: Get Killing Floor now, play for ages.

Option 2: Wait until Killing Floor 2 comes into early access in the next 40-50 days, play until the universe collapses.

Starpoint Gemini 2. May be less appealing if you never played Freelancer, or played it and didn't like it.

Borderlands 2. I have 350 hours under my belt and I'm still playing. Helps if you have the GOTY edition.

Yeah but tf2 tho' Iunno, what about trying to get good at CS:GO so you can get into the comp scene? I know L4D2 is a good time-sink

Since you states you played too much Borderlands 2 it implies to me that you like loot based games, hence most of my list.
Diablo (1,2,3), Torchlight 1 & 2, Path of Exile, Borderlands Pre-Sequel, OG Borderlands, Amazing Adventures of Van Helsing and its sequel, Titan Quest, Dead Island and Riptide, and DOTA 2. I'll update this list when I get more time.

I'be been playing "Neverwinter" for the past 40 days.
I like it!
You can spend a lot of time playing daily.
And it will take you much time to get the best gear.

I'm playing Endless Legend right now--it's akin to Civ but in a very interesting fantasy setting and way nicer looking. It also has some interesting gameplay mechanics like turned-based battles ala Expeditions: Conquistadors (also a great game). I can definitely see myself wasting major time in Endless. Maybe it's called Endless for that reason..

Oops--just saw your post about no strategy games.

WELL--I also mod Skyrim and my Random Alternate Start and Character Creation Overhaul mods are made to freshen up the game and even make you want to play again and again.

Try playing permadeath e.g. if you die you have to start over and make a new character. It takes a lot of discipline, but it's really fun when you do it using both the mods above.
