I quite like playing story heavy action adventures / casual rpgs in the vain of Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, Watch Dogs etc The better known Im aware of and already played most of them but my question is: do you know of any that haven't made the ign front page?

I've played Venetica, The Last Templar and just now Rise Of the Argonauts and am looking for similair games. The focus for me would be on setting / story rather than an elaborate fighting mechanic or graphics. Maybe some of you came across some hidden gems?

Any recommendations appreciated :)

Beyond Good and Evil is top notch action adventure. Didn't see it recommended here.

I also recommend:

  • Oddworld: New 'n' tasty (it's more like a cinematic platformer, but action adventure also fits well)
  • A short hike
  • Bastion (more like Action- RPGish)
  • Also the complete Legacy of Kain franchise, IMHO the best story in the history of videogames, and I'm playing games since the early 80s,

I've also played the prologue of Raji: An Ancient Epic and looks amazing.

I want to play Viking but it's hard locked to 30 fps it makes me nauseous trying to play it.

Kingdoms Of Amalur is one of my all time favs. Blood Knights, Enclave & Darkness II are already in my library and now on my "next to play"-list. Thanks

I recently played through Blood Knights and didn't care for it much. The writing isn't that good and the combat is simplistic if you go with ranged abilities. It's only about 5 hours long though, if you are looking for something short.

Victor Vran is a Diablo clone. It's a little repetitive but I enjoyed it. It's not very plot focused. If you are looking for Diablo clones with more plot and exposition you might prefer something like Inquisitor or Divine Divinity.

Since it's in my library I might aswell give it a go. Victor Vran I've finished not too long ago and yes it's really repetitive in the 2nd half but I liked it. Inquisitor seems interesting. Thanks.

With all due respect, I'd hardly call Death Stranding a lesser known game (but yes, there's something unique about it indeed).

Quite the list and there are some I've never heard of. Thank you! And I just recently played Shuyan Saga and really enjoyed it (although it could've used controller support imho....)

There's another game with similar style including art, but couldn't find it. :(
And I also have this game on my wishlist but don't know how much of an action-adventure it is:

These two are among more or less well-known titles, but I don't see them in your library: I mean Elex and Greedfall, and there's a strong chance that you'll enjoy both.

Also, I think Game of Thrones hasn't been mentioned yet.

The telltale GoT? Greedfall and Elex are both titles that look really good. Ty

Nope (that one was awful, I'd never recommend it to anyone), there's actually a pretty decent RPG akin to Spiders games: https://store.steampowered.com/app/208730/Game_of_Thrones/

Oh, that looks like something I might like. The Telltale GoT I didn't care for unlike TWD or the Wolf series.
