I personally am quite excited for the next Playstation.

What sort of blasphemy is going on in this thread! There is only one religion - PC!!! =P

Actually I'm a heretic myself, because I have owned PS2 and 3x Xbox360 (no RROD, I'm just a moody person). Maybe it's a PS time again, if there will be some Final Fantasy game that is going to be available only on PS. BUT, I'm also a big Forza fan so...

My only concern is if PS4 and Xbox 720, both use AMD GPUs and CPUs. Won't 8 core AMD CPUs outperform intel quads for console ports. Since the next-gen consoles will take advantage of 8 AMD CPU cores. If all 8 cores are fully utilized, intel quads CPUs may be 40 percent slower. Also is PhysX going to be extinct.

AMD is underpowered and games still have trouble taking advantage of multiple cores.

I use AMD and I've never had a problem with it.

I missed this gen so if I buy something it's gonna be PS4. Never got disappointed too much by Sony; microsoft is crap and I think I don't have to explain about today's Nintendo.

I always have my pcs anyway.

Consoles always will have worse performance than PC so there is your answer. If that is not enough: PC is able to emulate consoles. Also try to write any document on any console...

Wii U is last generation.

Egh... not really. Technically Wii U is Eighth Generation, which puts it above the PS360 and likely alongside the Orbis and Durango.

Technically, the Wii is not even a fraction as strong as the 360/PS3, yet people lump it in with the non-gimmicky powerhouses. Some developers are not even making certain games for the Wii U because it is not good enough.

I'm simply stating that the Wii-U is considered "next" generation in regards to Wii/PS3/360. Performance-wise it's roughly equivalent to the 360 anyhow, which already puts it in another league compared to the seventh generation Wii original. When the other two eight generation machines arrive, they'll destroy the Wii-U, that goes without saying, but the fact remains that Wii-U is considered next gen.

It would be considered next-generation power-wise, regradless. I'm not sure why people think that the Wii U is somehow only on par (or even weaker) than 7-year-old hardware which wasn't even that particularly strong for it's time. Nintendo only went with weak hardware with the Wii because their previous two powerhouses, the Nintendo 64 and the Gamecube, failed to garner the amount of sales of the significantly weaker PlayStation and PlayStation 2. Nintendo went the Sony route of going with weaker hardware and Sony went the Nintendo (or Microsoft) route of going with more powerful hardware, and we see where that got each of them sales wise.

Besides, if anything, the PSmove and Kinect are even more gimmicky because they weren't integrated from the start.

Wii-U owner, I take it? :P I wasn't knocking the machine, dude, if anything I was defending it from baseless accusations :) In terms of performance and hardware power? Yes, it is equivalent to the 360, though the U has double the RAM (quadruple if you take the entirety of system RAM rather than what's reserved for OS vs what's reserved for gaming) and a comparable CPU and GPU.

Actually, it was more of a response to cowbell while indirectly +1'ing your statement about how it's next generation. It wasn't intended as an attack on your post.

currently my interest is PC>>>>oculos rift>xbox720>>>>>>>>>>>>>>PS4>>Wii U >steam box> ouya.
PCs will always be my favorite platform for gamming. Inovation and the cheapest prices.
oculos rift seems an interesting concept especially for RPGs.
Xbox 360 was the best console for me, voice commands, extremely simplified UI, quick load times, great exclusives, etc so i have high hopes for the newxbox
PS3 was the updates queen and probably one of the worst japanese consoles i have, if it wasn't region free it would be crap...
I fear that Wii U will go the same way that wii did, with very few "hardcore" games...
ouya and steam box don't appeal much for me.

I won't touch the next consoles during the first two years, I like to wait and let Sony/Microsoft greed settle down and the price to drop from obscene to manageable. That and launch titles are notoriously poor :D I'll stick to my PC for the foreseeable future.

They all suck balls. PC is clearly better than those worthless pieces of shit that the big corporations make you buy every year.

Yeah!!! Damn those bastards! How dare they release the PS4 when the PS3 was only just released in 2012!?! HOW DARE THEY?!!

If you want the best graphic PC is the way, I look at the consoles only for the exclusives (mainly Nintendo's ones because I love Fire Emblem, Metroid, Super Mario, Super Smash Bros, Zelda, ecc...).

But I'm curious about Steam Box.

In the past i bought most consoles near their beginning.
But now i stopped playing on them, and sold my X360 and PS3 some months ago.
Still, i will wait some weeks/months, to see when and how well one can run "backups" from them :D
That is the most important point for me. Because i will and can't pay so much for some games.

Never owned a console in my life, but mostly due to financial issues. Would love to buy one one day, but for now I have to stick to PCs. Still the cheapest option, and I don't mean piracy, but mostly because there's no Steamesque equivalent for consoles.

I don't get why people are making decisions on them yet. We don't have definitive information on any of them, just a bunch of rumors and speculation that people are taking as fact even though there has been no confirmation.

Excited for consoles? What bizzaro world am I in? How can you be excited for something that has no official confirmation yet, let alone think it's good? The Wii-U is the only thing I am remotely interested in and that's only for Bayonetta 2.

3DS + PC is where it is at, I am fixing to give in and buy a 3DS XL.

I don't know if you guys have seen this.. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/02/report-next-xbox-will-use-persistent-net-connection-to-block-used-games/

I use Xbox and PC equally and love both. But if this is true my first through was, of well, Playstation it is.. Then I was thinking theres no way only one of the consoles are doing this. So if that is the case, I choose neither.

That is of course unless they change the price model. As all of us know, Steam makes a ton of money, specially on sale days. Not often do people buy full price which is a huge draw to steam.
If the Next Gen console does not adopt this model, and keep the old $60 a game and never drop its prices, then I think its a no-brainer.
The potential is there as XBLA has sales all the time (albeit not good ones) - so as an xbox user we are already accustomed to buying a title that we know is tied to our account.
I think it all comes down to money.
