Sometimes I got a little mad to see people with horrible ratios or even level 0, I almost blacklisted such profiles... but I thought to myself "why do I care? The whole point of gifting is to make someone else happy", and the rules of the site prohibits regifting so they will be happy even to have an extra game on their libraries or to farm cards, so in the end I do gift a glimmer of happiness into someone else's life.

Yea, in the end you can filter your GA to groups and levels, and even more with BL and WL so the system is A-O-K!
Comment has been collapsed.
Exactly. I usually don't do GAs below Level 1 because, with all the cheap bundles around, I don't see how anyone cannot afford to spend a dollar getting to Level 1. That's my choice and the system allows it. So people with zero giveaways aren't even on my radar.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't give a duck. :P It's their choice. Maybe they don't have money, maybe they're respectable citizens in real life, maybe they're donating money to charities, etc. We can't judge them just because they're leeching. And before pointing a finger on them, we should look at ourselves first.

i myself am among those who dont have money and payment in dollars for steam keys is expensive due to low value of our currency , moreover steam games are cheaper in my country to accommodate for the economy and thus are region locked
long story short , cant giveaway :P
Comment has been collapsed.
You should consider starting trading then. It's an easy way to get some steam money and buy the games you want. That's how I got many games. ;P
Comment has been collapsed.
For example, I am usually buying games during sales and then, after the sales, I'm trading them for csgo/tf2 keys to get profit. That way, when you'll get enough profit, you'll be able to buy some games for yourself too.

With other people obviously. xD Haven't you checked the trading section of steamgifts (which is now actually a different site, called steamtrades)?
Comment has been collapsed.
There are many people from India, that's for sure. :P Also, I think that steam gifts from India can be activated in a wider region (not just India), but I'm not sure. And you don't have to buy steam gifts necessarily from your store. I usually buy steam gifts from Canada, Norway, etc, which have the cheapest ROW prices and then trade them after the sales. I just wanted to help, but anyway, nevermind.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm an Indian and I do frequent GAs. To be fair, with everything so cheap in our store you'd never need to trade for anything because practically anything on sale will be cheaper. But if you do have prepaid wallets or stuff like Paytm, you can use those to add steam funds, use funds to buy trader currency like TF2 Supply Crate Keys directly from steam market, and trade them over with users at steamtrades or other reputable trading hubs, and voila!
If you need to ask anything, feel free to add me.

Or people who just make GAs for small ratio based groups or Invite only GAs with few entries that are not shared over the forum but among friends while winning public GAs at the same time ? My opinion: They are not.
Comment has been collapsed.
Absolutely not... Didn't check your profile at all and even when I do I have to be really bored to go beyond page 1. And your page 1 makes you look like a saint :D

Don't you think there's some difference between conscious choice to take and to to give at all and giving away rigion locked stuff because that's the only option to buy from Steam for you? Sure, you can always limit yourself to bundles, but what if you want to give away games that you've really enjoyed or have whitelisted, real quality stuff? I'd love to make all my GAs region free, but I just wouldn't be able to afford it, games from other stores are several times more expensive for me in comparison with my income that it would be for people from richer regions. Sure, I try to keep some balance, but even after making several trains (the last one had 100+ games in it) I'm still unable to enter all those SGTools protected GAs that require more than 50% region free CV, I'm still very far from that, and I guess I'll always be. I see your point, but I understand such people as well in a way.
Comment has been collapsed.
But what if someone can't give away any game cause he is a minor and can't buy them himself?
That argument fails when you take the time to see the many ways by which people can get games for free. It's been explained many times, for example the threads on Tremor games, trading games from giveaways for games from cheap bundles, etc...
Comment has been collapsed.
Because most of the people with 0 given have no intention to giveaway games (there's also the resellers and traders), whether they are able to or not, and as it has been stated hundreds of times, you don't need money to get a game to give, you can just use your time.

It used to get me riled up a little bit but now I collect them (not on my BL - let's be very clear on this) in a quest to find the most impressive leech :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Now I am curious, whats the most impressive one you found? I found someone with 472 won and 0 given away. There is also someone with +700 wins and less then 10 given away but I dont know the exact number.
Comment has been collapsed.
I've only been in the leech collecting game for a very short while so the most impressive ones on my trophy wall so far are (depending by which criteria you go by) 0 : 112 or 4 : 282 :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Indeed. I find it quite entertaining how many people like to keep up appearances by maintaining a decent sent : won ratio by giving away games like Despair, Uncrowded and Squishy the Suicidal Pig while exclusively winning unbundled games. But I'm often too lazy too look into that.

Some people follow and observe real SG rules while some people follow imaginary SG rules. :3
And of course you have also people that break SG rules. ^^

If you want to avoid those you can use SGTools giveaways with a ratio requirement and/or the blacklist. :3

Doesn't leeches have 0 chance of winning? Or so i read somewhere.
I've been leeching for a - long - while but just recently started to make givaways. I'm trying to learn how this really works
EDIT: Also, don't be that harsh, there's people who resort to this site because they can't afford some games and don't want to pirate them. They can't afford games so they can't afford to make givaways either.
Comment has been collapsed.
From a single leeches vantage point they might have a slightly lower chance to win than contributors (although not that much because everybody wants to be nice and inclusive and thus creates GAs without level restriction) but there's just so many more of them that on a larger scale it's still highly unlikely that a Level 0 GA goes to somebody with Level 2 or higher.
Just look at this GA as an example:
https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/0qQy2/grand-theft-auto-v
Edit: Also in my opinion leeching necessarily implies winning multiple GAs without giving anything back. Entering GAs without winning anything doesn't qualify as leeching since most people win something first, partly to find out if this site is legit before they decide to give something back.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well... that's also true. I'm Lv 1 and can enter some crazy giveaways. Maybe there should be come kind of limitation based on the price of the giveaway vs the level of the contestant? Something like that.
Yeah, sounds crazy coming from someone who emphatizes with leeches but well...
EDIT

Wow, i assumed i wouln't win anything unless i started doing givaways. So is there actually the same chances for everyone?
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't think mandatory level restrictions bound to price would be a good idea because specially for people promoting stuff (like the GA I linked above) low level users are vital because I think they are the most likely to visit YouTube channels and stuff like that, trying to give something back in their way and most people who regularly make GAs without promoting something sooner or later resort to Level restrictions anyway because the have had bad experiences with extremely rude or entitled leeches.
Edit:
Wow, i assumed i wouln't win anything unless i started doing givaways. So is there actually the same chances for everyone?
Yes, on SteamGifts (contrary to like it used to be on SteamCompanion where you could enter multiple times for the same GA) everybody has equal chances to win if they are able to enter the GA. So if there is a giveaway with just 2 entries, one of them Level 0 and one of them Level 10 the chances are 50 : 50.
Comment has been collapsed.
Absolutely no need to be sorry ;) Just trying to show a few of the different vantage points of different people with different agendas here on SG :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, within the same giveaway everyone has equal chance. The difference with levels is you have a wider variety of giveaways to enter with less competition so your chances increase in that aspect. But the selection algorithm for the winner in every giveaway does not give any advantage to anyone.
Comment has been collapsed.
Same for everyone. Chances are bigger to win, lets say a level 10 ga than a level 0 ga. Purely based on the number of possible entries.
My level 10 entry has as much chance of winning than a level 0 entry (of a level 0 giveaway).
And some kind of limitation already exists. Its entirely up to the giver to decide if he uses it or not.

Nice GIF. Totally stealing that :D
Took me a moment to recognize where it is from but that was a good episode :)
Comment has been collapsed.
It's from an episode of Supernatural that's pretty much an homage to Classic Monster movies. Currently watching that (@ Season 7 right now) and although I didn't particularly like it in the beginning it's starting to grow on me :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmmmm I have a vaaaaague recollection of a homage episode like that but yeah, can't bring specifics into mind. That's interesting, most people would say the exact opposite, 5 good starting seasons and then everything going downhill(I'm on that "camp" myself). Anyway thanks for sharing it's origin :P

Might have to do partly with the fact that I'm european and thus not used to overly authoritative parents. The first time I heard somebody (who I hadn't met before in a group of, beside her, close friends) while playing Mass Effect 3 coop having her kid adress her as ma'am I didn't talk for ~ half an hour because I was so creeped out. And I'm normally a very talkative person :D
So I was really happy the moment dad kicked the bucket for good and uncle Bobby came in. Also in the beginning I didn't have the impression the show knew how cheesy it was and they were taking themselves too seriously while later (for example with the beginning of the Story inside a story book arc) or the Supernatural TV show inside the show they started to embrace it.
Comment has been collapsed.
Sorry, that was very easy to mix up because I used the abbreviation. I ment ma'am as in madam or if it would have been the father it would have been sir.
Because from my vantage point it just feels unhealthy.
Comment has been collapsed.
See edit above ;)
No, in the United States that seems to be more or less normal behaviour and some parents just expect it as a sign of respect.

Personally, I am very happy that they did not end it after 5 seasons like Kripke had originally planned...
Sam would have been locked in Hell with Lucifer for eternity. The end. Ugh!
Still one of my favourite shows! I recently watched the first 10 Seasons on DVD in a row! Can't wait to get Season 11 on DVD!:)
Comment has been collapsed.
I didn't know that but I'm also glad they didn't. That would have been a rather bleak ending and Sam without soul was the first time I found one of the main 2 characters likeable. Later they managed to build on that with stuff like the "running gag" that Dean is not only into real Busty Asian Beauties but also addicted to anime smut.
Comment has been collapsed.
Did you mean unlikeable, or do you really not like the characters that much (one can still enjoy a show without liking the main characters, which is why I am asking)?
And don't forget pie. Dean loves pie! I love the episode where Sam gets him cake instead, and says "It's the same thing.". Dean just looks at him like his head was on fire. LOL!
Comment has been collapsed.
It's my first time watching it so it's hard to put an exact timestamp on it at what point my attitude toward them changed a bit.
In the beginning I would say for quite some time I was pretty much impartial toward them. They were certainly not as bad as the Mason family in Falling Skies or as others should call them For the love of god! Somebody kill them NOW! so some of us others might have a chance to survive but I wasn't a huge fan of them neither. But I know I'm a little bit extreme in that regard because I quite often dislike the main characters of shows because they tend to be such boring goodie two shoes characters. So in the beginning the whole dynamic was a little too much cliché and formula F, not enough self irony for me. So when dad returns as a ghost to save them one last time I was glad they got that out of the way and could move on to the crazier / more exotic stuff.

Is it odd that the back of deanshead is what I recognised first
Comment has been collapsed.
I didn't even notice there is a back of a head in that GIF at first but now that you mention it Dean does have a very distinct military haircut :D
Comment has been collapsed.
What did you think of the outtakes from the Blooper Reel on the DVD boxset that had this episode on it? I thought it was great (as are pretty much all of the Supernatural outtakes)!
Comment has been collapsed.
So far when it comes to Supernatural outtakes, bloopers and stuff like that I've only seen them (or maybe it was just Dean) singing Carry on my wayward son (and I think someone mentioned something like a silent scream montage but I'm not sure if I've watched it yet) but I came across that on YouTube so I'm not sure which season it belongs to. But that was pretty funny :)
Comment has been collapsed.
The silent scream montage came from the season you are watching.;) It was from the black and white episode the gif above is from.:)
Another favourite is the one where Misha Collins (Castiel) grabs a worm and uses it as a moustache!:)
Oh! And the episode with the zombie woman, where Sam and Dean are in the cemetery (of course, when aren't they?)! Jared Padelecki moves out of the way of the zombie girl, and then breaks out laughing. He yells out "I ripped my pants!", and sure enough the ass of his jeans has a nice big tear in them! LOL!
Comment has been collapsed.
They follow the rules, and it's quite easy to exclude them from your giveaways so I don't think this is something you should care.
But if you care about who is winning your games, maybe just restrict them to a Steam group you like ?
Comment has been collapsed.
What I find so funny about them is that they're also willing to spend the dollars on bundles to get games, and then idle those games for some time in order to get cards, and then sell those cards to get some cents apiece. They're hilariously wasting so much of time on the games without even actually playing them, just to save on some cents. They probably value their time in pennies, I guess.
Comment has been collapsed.
I rather think it's an addiction of theirs. To collect games.
Comment has been collapsed.
but in the end they save money doing that.
they farm the cheapest possible games to give away with multiple copies, then enter unbundled and BTA bundles they miss to +1 their libraries. the best example is to farm humble monthly, you get a LOT of cv for ~$15, then you are free to win whatever you want with that positive cv you got.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's the unspoken truth. Many people don't get that.

So I just saw few people who have $0 given and $1000-5000+ Won... How does that make you feel personally?
Not trying to judge anyone but might just start making all giveaways lvl 1+ after seeing that.
