I look at other members on the site and their gifts given are usually about equal to the number of gifts that they have won. I won SpaceChem during one my first ever entries, and over the last 2 years I haven't won a single thing. I've tried pulling entries from any games that go over a thousand entries and entering smaller giveaways just to increase my odds, and still nothing. Just wondering what I'm doing wrong and what people think is the reason behind me never winning. My guess is it's because the only decent thing I ever gave away was Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs the day the game launched.

Here's a link to a giveaway of UFO:Afterlight for your time. Love ya.

EDIT: I just noticed that I wrote "randomlessness" when I should have written randomness. Randomlessness would imply that things are not random. Maybe I should add unintelligenceness as an answer.

Why Do I Never Win?

View Results
God Hates You.
Some people are lucky and some ain't.
It's just part of the randomlessness and meaninglessness of existence.
This place is rigged.
Your gifts have sucked for the most part and you don't deserve to win anything.
Karma. You must be a horrible person and you probably deserve to never be happy about anything ever.
It's just to make room for all the winning in life that you will experience in some far-away time.

Have you checked your advanced preferences in the user settings?

Make sure the 'win frequency' is set to maximum.

You're welcome! :-)

Please don't tell too many people about the setting. We need to maximize our chances here!

If I'm paying attention, I usually bail out of any GA that goes over 400 entries per copy - I think 1000 is actually high.

Lucklessness?

Look at my profile and you will notice that I've been here for a year. I was also wondering how exactly it all works, whether it's based solely on luck or not and basically what are all the things that affect our chance. Admittedly I didn't contribute to the site by creating many giveaways and over that time I've entered way more giveaways created by other users than I created myself, but those giveaways I created were all made not too long ago and they all were created shortly one after another and then out of sudden, to my surprise once I created few of giveaways, something happened that you could call luck as I started winning and I won 5 games and my current ratio of games that I won compared to the games that I gave away is 5:10. 10 games given away and 5 games won. Now you could think that this actually means that I was lucky, but is that really luck in the long run? I don't think so and here is why:

First of all, I've seen many profiles of users who won way more giveaways than they created. There are users who literally won hundreds of giveaways but didn't create a single giveaway. Now that is something I would call luck. Sure there are some closed group giveaways and chances are that these users only enter those giveaways, greatly increasing their chances, but when you think about it, that theory also seems unlikely as there would have to be hundreds of people in a group who create a giveaway but that also means hundreds of people having a chance to win the game which considerably decreases the chance for each individual who enters that giveaway, so it's either insane luck or insane cheating skills of some sort, so how exactly that happened is beyond me and still remains a mystery.

In my case, I mostly enter giveaways that have very few entries which greatly increases my chance for those particular giveaways, but in the same time takes away my chances at other giveaways, since I usually spend all the points on the giveaways of highest chance (with small amount of entries) and don't have enough points left to spend on the others. This inevitably means that while I did win 5 games so far (which again over the year span isn't too many), I still gave away more than that and I only won games based on a high chance rather than winning a game from wishlist because naturally if the game is good, people want it more and more people will take their chance no matter how small the chance of winning is. All in all, while you can surely increase your odds by entering high amount of giveaways with small amount of entries, it means that you're trying to win a game most people don't want that much in the first place and then it's kinda obvious that you go around the luck factor rather than using it to your advantage.

Sorry, unrelated, but... I'm exchanging it for a bump!

That moment when the poll in its original order is exactly the poll ordered by votes
