Are you a criminous?
I have literally 0 shame to use ingame cheatcodes in single player scenarios, it that will help me to finish the game (necrovision was a slog without cheats) and/or they are more fun with cheats. In necrovision I mostly used throwing weapons because they are fun, but very limited, so I made a keybind to replenish them. Or play Jedi Academy (after like dozen normal runs) with maxed force powers from start to see, how much it breaks the levels and the gameplay :)
Never used a cheat in multiplayer games, and I never plan to do so.

Biggest cheater ever in gaming.
Was thinking of making a seperate post about it, but nah.
[Edit] And another one, the King of Kong.

I found that video fascinating and the evidence overwhelming. Apparently, so did Twin Galaxies, because they have acted on it - they threw out all his records about a week ago.

I've done a lot of tinkering in single player games and maybe a bit in multiplayer games that were specifically with friends. I have never cheated in a game with the public. The worst I've ever done was that I would sometimes benefit from cheaters in Diablo 2. I often joined games where bots were running through the end boss to gain exp and such. I don't regret that one at all though. In part because I wasn't the one doing the cheating, but also because it was long after the game had any sort of main stream relevance.

Nope. It's part of the game even if the devs forgot a ; (semi-colon) in their code

The way you want to enjoy your singleplayer game regards just you and there is no need to feel bad about it.
And it doesn't matter if it is in the form of hacks, walkthroughs, trainers, editors, codes, save/scumming, rerolling to a previous move, or whatever.
Cheating, in my opinion, only applies to playing with others, especially in a competitive setting.

That people who use cheats simply does not have balls to play fair.
I have courage to loose when it needed.

never cheated online (for the little time i played in my life) nor in single player. i also dislike guides and walkthroughs, if i can't beat a game by myself then i'd rather abandon it.
on second thought, i use mods in sp games when possible so that can be seen as cheats. ^^ i suppose the definition of mod-cheating will vary a lot for each person.

There's a lot of cheating that I don't understand. How is it satisfying to look back on an achievement that you either haven't actually achieved or achieved under circumstances that made the achievement trivial? I mean, I'm sure that I could win a fist fight with a toddler but it wouldn't be something to brag about or reflect on with satisfaction. I once asked a guy called something like "UnKnown_Monsters" if he was having fun after he had ruined a Red Dead Redemption (PS3) multiplayer game with an invisibility hack that made the game impossible for everybody else: He said it was not the most fun he'd had but that he was getting lots of XP. Likewise, Steam Achievements: I have a game where one of the achievements is impossible to get because there is a bug preventing the game passing the information to Steam, yet 1.1% of players have managed to record the achievement, presumably by using achievement management (cheating) software. I'm amazed that there is so much desire for false acclaim, particularly for such petty accomplishments. We have a politician that got caught lying about his education and military record, but I had thought that he was an unusual case.

Back in the 80s and 90s I used the Konami code, and some other similar codes. Do those count? Oh and I had a GameGenie too.

As long as it's your own experience your changing and no one else's, it's fine imho. Whatever goes in that case. If a modification makes it more enjoyable, why not?
If the game has any kind of multiplayer component, even something as simple as a leaderboard though... then it's no longer acceptable. At least that's the stance I've been following all these years. Seems fair to me.

When I was young and foolish I would save the game and type the following:
STATEOFEMERGENCY
ROCKETMAN
STINKLIKEABEE
THUGSARMOURY
And to really put me in the spirit of the game, I would also steal the game from a friend(it was a cool edition that the instruction book had a hard cover. Really cool)(totally worth stealing).
So yes I'm a criminal in the eyes of the law.

I used cheats and extension, but not in PvP/against people. The latter remove the fun or the achievement of beating those(but other may find beating better players with no self-skill funny).
Why I would/use cheats etc:
To beat something
To have fun
To test things
To troll around
In some content I understand cheating(grinding things/unlocking).

Could you please explain how cheating in single player games is a "crime" (or basically something worth any kind of judgement at all)?

Please accept my apologies, my sarcasm detector seems to malfunction.

The only one I struggle to understand is online cheating to get a higher rank to play with people better than you, you're cheating so you can lose more because you haven't naturally progressed to the level you need to be at to be at that rank.

I used so many codes in Age of Empires long time ago, especially 'aegis' which would speed up all construction, mostly because of the tediousness.
In single player games, I guess it is acceptable.
And now, I use mouse macros, but only fast click (not even that fast, about 7,5 clicks per second. I can do this faster manual, but it's strainous on my hands). This is mostly to relieve strain, and a bit to help keep the cursor/aim where I want it whilst clicking fast.
'Fun' fact about this: I played a lot o fMinecraft, and recently wanted to do something in there with a friend again, only to find out I was banned from the server we wanted to join. This, because apparently they decided that using a (mouse) macro (which they, by the way can not prove, as it is all cirumstancial evidence) is "an unfair advantage" and therefore counts the same as using mods or hacks...

I don't consider "cheating" in offline games cheating, unless your actions affect any multiplayer aspect of said game. I've made and used mods a lot, same with trainers and Cheatengine. It was some of the best fun I've had (Just Cause 2, especially) and that's all that really matters in the end, doesn't it? Having fun without hurting anyone - I can't see any drawbacks.
I do use some macros/etc in games, including multiplayer, but I don't see it as cheating either - Everyone does it, and it's no worse than rebinding keys, really. For example I use some macros to open/use piles of items in MMOs (and it's not an advantage, to be fair, it's just less work for me). Other than that, I also made a macro on my mouse to switch to melee weapon, attack once, then switch back to the primary weapon (in Dirty Bomb). This one is probably the closest I've been to using any kind of trick to give me an advantage in multiplayer games - In my defense, I'm fairly sure everyone did it.

I would never cheat in an online game.
I've never used a cheatengine (dont really know what it is but I see it used a lot in this thread) or anything like it. However, sims 4 I'm all over that money cheat! Have never used cheats in any other games though I do use walkthroughs if I'm having trouble with a certain spot and I've gotten my husband to do parts of a mission on GTA V (storymode) many times if I'm struggling (I can't aim for shit so in the missions where there's huge amounts of npcs coming at once, I get him after about 20 fails)

[TLDR]
*When i was a child i played a game called Mu and t'was very time demanding game and thinking right now, i can see that i lost so many lan-paid-time with it that now i'm very regretted.
When i installed it in my PC, i had a lot of things to do but also wanted to increase my char, so i installed a macro that would leave my char using twisting slash killing the mobs but passive to be killed for another players.
I was something like 13 years and far away from being one of the top on that game, now they already have a function just like the one i used and it's many times easier and i'll be like "no thank's" for them.
For PVP games like CS, i just used a manual aim with some piece of bubblegum or something to make easier to aim, but that's all and i don't think it helped me anyway because i won only a few times.
I used a lot of trainers on offline games, special mentions for Mafia III because it was very slow and beside the music, there was nothing funny on that broken game. Unfortunately, i just remembered of them in the end of the game when i've already finished, but finally i had some fun with it exploding a lot of cars and doing unimaginable things.*
[/TLDR]
I'm not proud of it but i'm pretty sure that i never messed with anyone and i'll only requisite this feature in the last case. In other hand, when i'm playing online games like PUBG and GTA, it's very easy to be messed by someone using dirty tools.
About the Googled News:
Indeed, they're talking about people that make profit from cheats like Cheatmakers and "Professional" competitors, but i can't wait to see the moment when FBI will hit some toxic hack and will arrest him for life, i really hope so.
What do you think about it?
