and here goes nothing, just great
oh well, so much for being patient and comprehensive
dont want to sound entitled or selfish but they may as well go and fuck themselves seriously

If u didn't already get the key, then u won't even get it. They said they will send some kinda "gift" for people that didn't get the keys, but that gift will probably some BS or some kinda coupon.

We don't feel we deserve, they said it themselves, we succefully entered the giveaway, u WILL GET THE KEY IN 7 DAYS, and we didn't get them, and we won't get it in the future, that's why we are swearing, don't promise something u can't fullfil.

If you start something, you have to end it. They are insulting, because they participated and did not win, so did I... Now that's not fair, because some people recieved their keys and some not. If you can't hold a giveaway, don't even make one. Would you not swear if I make a giveaway for a game and you win and I send you a message instead of the game, on which is written: I'm sorry I did not expect you to win, but you can have Dead Bits if you want!

I also participated and didn't get it, but I approach to it different way.
I'm happy there was such event and at least some people of us get something for free.
That's a reason to be happy not to insult.
Maybe I'm wrong... looking at most of comments

nothing is free. we gave our emails and steam account names. they pay companies for to get our emails believe me. and they promised something. a game when you participate. if you promised something you should keep it. otherwise you shouldnt do do this at the beginning.

Hi,
The keys were sent out last night. However due to limited stock and unprecedented demand several people were unsuccessful in their application for a Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition download key. We don't want anyone to leave empty handed so if you didn't receive a download key you will receive an email explaining further + a gift from us.
George
nice !!

thank you but i'm not into discount gifts... i want my damn key as you wanted my email and my steam id, i did my part of the bargain so should you

I sent a ticket to them yesterday, they answered 10h later.

Wow. Somehow I forgot that I didn't receive an e-mail in a week and was waiting for a response within an hour. Reality check!

This wasn't the yeary Golden Joystick event. That's in October.
This was an unrelated, small, seemingly private giveaway they held, that got massively leaked,
Imagine if your giveaway on SG got leaked, and instead of the private invites you sent to 100 people, 200,000 signed up: And you didn't notice till the giveaway ended, and you didn't use SGTools filter.
Bam, you're now responsible for all those entries, no way to reroll to give only to the people you intended, and you still only have the 100 keys for all those entries.
That's what just happened, here- except for some reason, people are still expecting to be able to get keys despite not being winners, despite the giveaway not even having been intended for them to begin with.
Of course, the fact that exploiters likely got most of the keys doesn't help, but the people complaining were intending to do the same thing, so it's a terribly hypocritical thing.

This isn't a small giveaway. It's the store they opened after the success of the GJ events.
edit: It's part of Future Publishing, they have decades of experience in Computer, Console and gaming stuff.

The company is large. The giveaway was a private giveaway sent in email to a select number of their European subscribers (there was no direct link to it anywhere outside of those emails).
It then got leaked.
I believe this is also the first giveaway of theirs they've had to handle, as GMG/Playfire (often mis)handled the previous giveaways.
They likely were trying for a "closed beta" run before prepping for their big yearly October event, and instead got the full mess to deal with right away.

Nice... -.-
Thanks for those who used VPN, "normal users" won't get anything...

Hi,
We stated on the giveaway 'while stocks last'. Unfortunately as this giveaway was extremely popular the amount of people that didn't get keys is going to outweigh those that did. Then add in VPN's and what you've called key farmers. We have done the best we could with this. It's not our fault people cheated out systems.
George
Wow....

I love the: We have done the best we could with this.
Step 1. Make website
Step 2. Make big title with attractive contents
Step 3. Ignore current key amount limitations, country limitations, IP address limitations, Text box data validation, E-mail verification and probably 20+ more possible validation methods
Step 4. Get a cookie because you just mined a ton on email addresses and steam ID names.

I don't get it...
They're underestimated themselves? Did they thought there will be 100-200 ppl who want it?.
This is just stupid.

And in steam forums they claimed that the Keys were UK and US exlusive and if you live in EU you wont get a key, now this "george" guy says that the ppl of US scammed away the keys from the ppl in EU... IM starting to get seriously confused over here...

Its exactly the opposite.

I see breakage of EUR-Lex directive for protection on personal data.
What they did was illegal collection of personal data, pure scam and we need to bombard them with that info!!!
They are EU company and are obligatory to play by EU Laws and directives.
Send them tickets, bombard them with stuff they did, let's make things right!!!
http://support.goldenjoystick.com/hc/en-us
They could have checked every user by the Steam ID from wich country he is. Lies lies and nothing but lies...
Bombard them like the lying scammers they are!!!
Comment has been collapsed.
+1 i totally agree with you. The free game is not really free. and they promised that you will get a key. at the end you enter your personal info because they will give something in return. if they dont give it (while they clearly said they will) it means its a scam. Again like i said before. companies hire people and pay them to collect emails en other personal data!!
Everyone should mail them about this!
Comment has been collapsed.
Gonna send them a mail or two, too.
We, the customers, keep forgetting that we have some power over the sellers, and we should probably use the power when something is not as was promised.

I don't really know how EU laws work, but they are giving away suscriptions for their magazine. Not only that, but a lot of people got the game without using their steam ID. I, for example, didn't fill that space. I just put my email in there and my coupon arrived (yes, I used a VPN).
Comment has been collapsed.
How did they scam you out of your ID's? you know those are public and could be gotten without a GA?
I get the e-mail thing but even then your grasping at straws..you should have a spam e-mail for this kind of stuff.
Who gives there regular e-mail these kind of GA's??
I think the ID's where more less to make sure the keys where being used on those supplied when you signed up,i would laugh if someone traded them away and the keys where never fully activated because it does not much up with Steam ID used.
Either way this turned into a mess..
I did not get my key but at first it said US ...now it said it was meant for UK..
But still it is a free key so i am not going to get all riled up over a free item that did not cost me a thing it just a waste of time.

Given that if you'd entered properly (that is, not from a leak), your e-mail would have already been on file, given that this was an exclusive giveaway sent to a number of their European e-mail subscribers..
Comment has been collapsed.
I think you misunderstood me..
I have my everyday e-mail for important things..like Steam,GMG,bank and so on..
i have spam e-mail for GA's or other sites i feel may be using my stuff to spam me
Like this site i used the same e-mail as i did when i voted,i also use these e-mail to join other random GA's or any site where i suspect spam will be incoming.
Again why would you share your good e-mail with a site you know or suspect will sell your e-mail for spam use ?
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, sorry, confusing pronoun use on my part.
No, I was supporting your point, my post wasn't in any way directed at you.
I was clarifying that not only should <someone> have a spam e-mail for this sort of thing, but it would have already been on file had <someone> entered legitimately, so <someone> can't use 'asking for our e-mail' as an excuse to bash GJ :P
Comment has been collapsed.
It is okay it happens and i get stuff confused myself.
And i see what you mean i think we both misunderstood each other a bit
Either way this is a big mess and i am sure some will burn them at the cross none the less...
I just feel it is unfair to blame someone for scamming all because they missed out and are just angry. They should be calling the ones using VPN to get keys the scammers.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well i try to be rational,i never do set out to stir trouble or be right or wrong i just try and share my opinion..
I just think it is unfair for someone to blamed for something that is not the case.
In the end this is a shit storm they have to deal with because of how badly they screwed up.And from this point forward i do not think they are scammers or no good but i will be cautious in there future GA's.Though i do suspect and hope they learn from this going forward.
Something like this will happen again some place else and people will be burning down villages again over it.Look how people got with the love not war thing when it was not in there inbox the day it was suppose to be.

In fairness, with MWNL, Sega switching from a handful of initial sent keys on the Tau Commander to steam activation caused my key to be removed.. after the steam activation ended. (Next time I'll bloody wait a bit to activate keys from events like that.)
When I contacted Sega about it, they told me 'too bad, the promo has ended' without any apology or sympathy whatsoever.
So... a handful of people might have actual reason to be rather frustrated with Sega over the whole thing :X
For the most part though- yeah, the response was pretty ridiculous.
Comment has been collapsed.
I did not know that, though from following the thread it safe to say some just have no patients and hit the panic button when they where not in the e-mail that day.
Which is fine, but to get angry or say thing like i better get my game or it is riot time lol
Comment has been collapsed.
As many others, no key or email here.
I live in the EU and I caught the giveaway shortly after it started. They screwed up and I hope it's gonna cost them whatever reputation and/or customers they might have had.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yup, I wasn't all that sure I'd get the key when I entered the GA. And reading this thread the last two days, looks like I was right :D

Edit: codes are being emailed, but some people are having problems. "Invalid taxcode reference key 5 for subsidiary 4". No solution as of yet
Edit2: Using tunnlebear worked for me. Up to you if you want to use a vpn.
