This is SteamGifts, not Usenet. While individuals occasionally post something with cultural, political, or religious overtones, the forum here is "casual." I have no problem discussing religion or politics in depth while on Usenet or Reddit, nor do I mind having a personal chat with someone on Steam or in person. I don't do that here, however. It's simply a matter of "right place, right time."
Now, I have already offered to participate in an open discussion through Steam chat with anyone who wishes to do so. If you choose to accept my offer, you would be free to say whatever you want, and could even use multiple encounters to express yourself. If you have any interest in finding out the truth about Islam, this would be a great chance to do that. If you simply want to use the encounter to vent your frustration with things going on in the world , I am similarly frustrated and have some patience for that, as well. If, however, you simply want to rage in the SteamGifts forum without any knowledge or understanding, then I consider that a waste of your time and energy.
I remain totally open to criticism. (I find that most people prefer to be criticized in private, so I adhere to that when I can.) I am not, however, open to lying and/or deceit as that is a waste of everyone's time. If you do wish to chat with me, leave a message on my Steam wall and send me an invite.

This is exactly why I avoid commenting on any thread that involves Islam, I love the idea of being able to congratulate each other and share our customs and i'd do that in an ideal world but the sad reality is that every time we do this there's always a few frustrated zealots that feel obliged to come and complain and rage about basically anything they can imagine after spotting something related to muslims.
It's just so tiresome to have the same debate over and over again with extremists like these that see everything in black and white, kudos for even bothering to respond to them, it really amazes me how you've still got the energy to respond to these kinds of posts after being a support member for a while (most others seem to quickly grow tired of all the negatively and slowly stop posting, and who can blame them really?)

Perhaps you do not understand my OP? I simply said that non-Muslims are not expected to comment. We Muslims don't greet you on your holidays, so it is not expected that you will greet us on ours. You are still free to do so, of course, but there is no need for it. Also, nowhere did I say, "Let's discuss the religion of Islam."

Blind hatred is not the same as constructive criticism.
There are religious fanatics who will misinterpret the Quran to fit their own views, those should certainly not be tolerated. Pinning the sins of some subgroups to the whole of people who have faith in a particular religion will only cause stigma en social cleavage. I have friends who are Muslims and you'd be hard-pressed to know this because they don't feel the need to shove it in anyone's face. They're not trying to conquer anything and are perfectly content with keeping their faith a part of their personal lives.
As a Christian, I have the same approach. If you come to my place there are certain telltale signs of my faith but I will never try to impose anything on anyone. Our history is also littered with horrors, from crusades to witch-burning, and tot his day there are still a lot of heinous crimes perpetrated by Christian fanatics "int he name of God". Would you say that all Christians are monsters over this?

It's a month where we fast before daybreak till sunset. Timing is different for every country/city.
We do more charity than usual, help poor and needy people more and abstain from anger, expletives and sexual acts during fasting.

You can't claim to hate religion and claim to be an agnostic. Agnostics don't believe in hatred, as they lack that strong a belief to begin with... for one.
I'm not saying atheists believe in hatred, mind you... but their logic revolves around the polar opposite belief of that of religious folks, i.e. the equally dogmatic belief of the non-existance of a god/gods (or deity/deities) as a given fact.
Agnostics don't believe in either dogmas, they consider themselves limited to claim knowledge of either.
That said, i'm inclined to think atheists would frown upon your hatred just as much as i do, as an actual agnostic.

I used to think I was an atheist when I was younger, because that's generally the only word people use for non-believers, but eventually realized that agnostic was a much more apt description. Interesting. I remembered reading a few years ago about how a council had been convened to determine how to properly pray towards Mecca from space, but I hadn't before thought about fasting for Ramadan.

I'm an atheist but I do respect everyone's faith. There's still much misunderstandings and hate between our populations, but I'm sure that it won't take long since we will be able to live peacefully and work togheter for a greater purpose: humanity's wealth, our wealth.
