- not everybody has a humble bundle account, so it was not free for everyone.
- event has ended now, so some people may have missed it
- some people already owned the game, so why not giveaway their free copy of the game to somebody else

- Well, creating an HB account doesn't cost a dime... only a bit of time, so that's not a very solid argument in my eye.
- Indeed. But maybe it would have lasted longer if some people (bots?) weren't getting 3, 6, 10+ copies for themselves.
- Let's be real, the vast majority of those who are creating GA's for Grid 2 only do so in hope to get some CV and level up.
That said, there's no need to ban any of them, as giving away free games is now allowed. But I suspect we'll see a couple threads with OP's wondering why they are not getting to the next level in the coming days/weeks.

- HB acc. doesnt cost a dime but time. And you have to create one with email and accept newsletter and have captcha protection crap, it is not that easy like other free giveaways with a direct download (indiegala) or where you just get a steamkey
- 3,6,10+ copies for themselves do not make sense, you can activate only one copy and play this game only 1 time, only for greymarket resellers this makes sense, so better create free giveaways of the game so price and profit of those bad guys drops
- For Grid 2 you get 0 CV and dont level up, because it is a free game. So there is no need to do that, the only reason is to make another guy happy who missed the chance to get this (good) game for free.

- In my opinion, if you can't be bothered to take the time to create an account to get a free game, you don't really want that game that much. I might be wrong though... and maybe the "problem" is that people are have become lazier than I thought. (and believe me, I know lazy... I do consider myself a quite lazy person).
- I had resellers/traders in mind when I wrote that point. And also people who want to "abuse" the CV system by gathering many copies of a free game.
- I'm very aware of that, thankyouverymuch. But as I've written a bit below, I'm pretty sure that most people who are creating GA's for Grid 2 don't know they won't get any CV from those giveaways. A lot of users have never read the FAQ/Guidelines. This is why we still get threads where OP's are complaining that they don't level up and/or that their level has decreased.

Tell me about it. My blacklist counter went up by 40% after I offered this game and the DLCs. I was well aware of the fact that some people didn't like giveaways of DLCs because of easy CV points, but I also knew that there weren't any for said giveaways. So all the hate kind of took me by surprise and was a bit disillusioning. You try to offer something and certainly don't do any harm with that, yet get such a reaction.
The fact that people wouldn't have to go through the annoying captcha protection to get their free copy must be good for something, if nothing else. I had to retry the captcha puzzle 3 or 4 times (yeah, I'm bad at guessing what's what). I'm not complaining about it, but I think it's legit to say that some people wouldn't have the patience, just to get their free copy.
So apparently there are people who appreciate this. Can't we just leave it at that?
Sad thing is: I even lost a whitelist entry during that "event". So someone went from "You're good enough for my whitelist" to "Get off my planet!" because of it. To which I can only say: That escalated quickly.

Hmm... Just like I think that a lot of users aren't aware that freebies don't give CV, I'd say that a bunch of people still don't know that it's now ok to GA free games. That might explain why your BL count suddenly increased, although SteamGifters will blacklist for anything and everything...
I remember being quite surprised when I got my first blacklist, I had no idea what I had done... I gathered more over time, but you know what? I don't care. And you shouldn't either. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter.

If you're concerned about the blacklisting, maybe just write in the description something like you know this was free on HB and that it won't give any CV, you just wanted to give to those who missed it a chance to win Grid 2. Don't worry about the BL's, as you're certainly part of a couple WL's. :)

Well, it certainly gave me cause for concern. I didn't realize that people were so touchy about giving away free games. I have my blacklist counter hidden, so I wouldn't actually know about it, but I generally try not to piss off people if I can avoid it. :)

In case you're wondering, I ended up giving it to a family friend who missed the promotion. I was concerned that with the redemption deadline being sometime tomorrow, an SG winner may not have had enough time to redeem it before it expired.

I just noticed you gave away Dishnonored 2 a couple weeks ago, and it went to a good person. :) I really need to play through the Dishonored 1 DLC so that I can start on 2. But I've been too lucky in too short a time, and now have an SG backlog to work through. I know... I know... lucky first world problems. ;)

Atrushan, you shouldn't let it bother you. Some people like you and others don´t. That is life. Blacklist/Whitelist is not the most important thing in the world. Have fun playing your games, winning giveaways and gifting games to others, this is the purpose of this community. 😀

I think there may also be a large number who already had the base game but wanted those two DLCs from Humble. It makes sense for them to give away the base game in that case.

This is probably the most correct comment. I redeemed the DLCs and i had an unused key for the base game. So what better way to just create a quick giveaway than leave it to be ninja'd in a thread.

That's exactly what I'd expect too, I didn't do any count, but I'm sure there were far more base games given than each DLC.
That said, personally I don't care if someone gives away a "free" game. I guess I'd probably be a little more "pissy" if I really wanted it and all the keys were taken though. But I'd be happy for people giving it away to give me some chance at it.
