Note: the point of a group is to be exclusive to people with a certain common factor (be that age, race, gender, interest point, or whatever). Therefore, a female-only group is not sexist (unless the point of the group is to degrade men).

Not in a "club setting." For example, if there were a D&D club at a school, only people who play (or want to learn to play) D&D would be allowed to join. A person wouldn't be able to just show up at a weekly meeting and eat the free food. :P

I'm assuming then that you'd be cool with a group that is for men only. No women whatsoever! We're so bent on making sure no women are invited to this men-only group that we'll require secondary verification.

That'd be fine - because it's a group. Now, if Steamgifts as a whole suddenly decided no more girls were allowed to create or enter giveaways... that's a different story altogether.
My main point is that groups don't have to follow such rules of "being open to all" because they are completely optional things set up and joined by members at their will.

Somehow this doesn't work with male-only groups of any kind. Every single group of males that existed from times immemorial gets accused of misogyny solely because they don't accept women in their ranks. Even if the point of the group has nothing to do with women whatsoever.

It's double standards. Like, you know, all abusers are male, women can't rape, stalking is funny if it is female after male etc.
