Just wondering, tbh. I started being a little bit more active on SG these last few weeks and was surprised that I got blacklisted twice yesterday/today.

I usually blacklist only scammers (only have 2 people on BL), so I was curious about which other reasons you would blacklist someone.

People who are publically garbage in threads and that.
Anyone who doesn't activate their wins.
If I happen to be in a bad mood when someone spams the same shitty Thankyou message across half a dozen giveaways they are doomed.

Still I mainly give away bundled shite so no ones really losing out., just makes me feel better.

I've discovered I'm in your BL and because of that i am curious what of your stated things are the reason for it.

Not activated wins, not possible.
Spam thank you messages, not possible.

I'm not asking you to take me out of your BL and you do not owe me a explanation but i hope you end my curiosity.

Hey. This is a very interesting discussion, I read the opinions with pleasure. What is your reason for adding someone to your blacklist? I found myself on your black list, and decided to clarify the reason, because it turned out that the reasons are of interest to you too), unless of course it makes you more difficult. Have a nice day anyway!

Hi, i can't answer that how i want.... = direct.
I am sure you remember different talks with different admins about joining their groups and the answers from them.
And i seen,, with my own eyes, both named accounts with the same, broken english, sentence offer the same trade in the same 2 threads.
A bit much of coincidences.....

A strange reason for being blacklisted, but it's up to you to decide) Maybe this is because it was at this time that this game was handed out, and since I just registered and did not know the rules of transactions, I thought that if there is an exchange offer in the topic, then I can do it write. In any case, it’s surprising to me that someone’s false and unsubstantiated accusations can be a reason for being blacklisted. If I was to blame, I wouldn't try to clear my name. This situation gave me the opportunity to understand that it is necessary to prove not guilt but innocence, and if the guilty person is appointed to prove innocence it is useless)) Thank you for this understanding. Anyway your blacklist is your choice. Have a nice day.

Sure, it is possible that you wrote to the same game a trade offer.

But why with the same sentence -in broken, wrong, english and under your normal written english that you present here- ?
Why in 2 different threads ?
Why in both threads direct below the other account ?

And let's say that are all "coincidences"...
... it don't look "good" if the other account have traces to 5 alt accounts, partly VAC bans + a scam report about one of that accounts.
I gathered that infos by myself so i seen all first hand.

Sure, it is still possible that all that are coincidences but i am sure you understand that it is hard to believe after all that then "i am innocent" words.

Have a nice day too.

It is easy to explain) I do not speak English and usually use a translator, I was in a hurry and just copied the exchange message above in the topic. I am not saying that the account you are talking about does not own multi-accounts, but I am just saying that I have nothing to do with it. Thanks anyway for taking the time to answer my questions. Good luck!

Afraid I can't, don't keep a list or anything and don't recognise your name. But on the upside I'll probably empty it come Christmas and you'll once again be able to enter GAs for such gems as Donuts & Justice, Children of Zodiarcs and The Haunted Island, a Frog Detective game.

Bet you can't wait :)

I blacklist people who are only sucking up SG here...so they have more wins, then gifts.

In that order, when I give away games, more people who didn't have luck - get the games to themselves.

  1. People who blacklisted me
  2. People who got high contributor levels by making exclusively private giveaways, yet they are entering public giveaways.
  3. Not a rule, but sometimes I blacklist people who won hundreds of games and gave away jack shit (I understand that sg is basically charity, but if you get 500 games for free, maybe someone else should win the next one)

I don't know if there's a way. But when I by some chance find out that they blacklisted me, I blacklist back. I think blacklist being automatically applied both ways should be a native feature. Somebody blacklisting you and still joining your giveaways is some bullshit.

Just found out that blacklists actually do work both ways!

You can see who blacklists you if you happen upon their giveaways. So by randomly coming across their profile or the easiest way of invite only giveaways. With stuff like the community train its an easy way to find those bl

There are several people who blacklisted me because I made a group and was inviting a lot of people in it to make giveaways in it. It didn't really kick off like I thought it would but I'm pretty sure some people just don't like someone being on the spotlight.

I emptied my blacklist at a Christmas event. Since then I have not included anyone. I'm not going to lie, I have had impulses but I live much calmer not looking for possible grievances... although blacklisting those who are online intermittently and do not activate their gifts does not seem like a bad idea.

Sometimes I whitelist someone who comments on my gifts, especially if I've asked something or something like that.

If I have to chase you down to accept a giveaway that you won, I'll blacklist you afterwards. I get that not everyone gets on everyday, but if its sitting there won for a week and you logged on yesterday without activating the win, you're gone.

I've blacklisted for terrible gifting ratio, broken rules, personal beef and even just for fun sometimes. My blacklist has been permanently emptied to take a stand against the racist nomenclature. There are 33 racists who have me on their so-called "blacklist" (you know who you are)

When people are 'crossing the line' in my book. Usually that just means being toxic towards other users. Not like I have strict rules for it though.

And yeah, don't look too much at being blacklisted. I got added to a blacklist on the 3rd of july, only made 3 comments on the site in 2020 to that point, of which the last one was april 1st.

So, yeah, don't go looking for a meaning. Anybody can literally blacklist you for whatever reason they see fit.

I have nine blacklisted people and 7 of them were blacklisted at one day. I just got really mad, when there was 10 000 free copies of a 50 points game given on developer side. I didn't get it, because they ran out of keys, then I went to SG and saw people giving away 3-5 copies of this game. Yea... that's a great way to quickly jump to higher level...

Send a "add game" ticket to the support.
Write in the Header the "Game XYZ should be FREE"
Put in the description the link to the GA and if you have it when it started.

And that people will loose very fast all of the earned points from that GA's :o)

That's the way they earn only a few Blacklists and maybe learn the lesson....

Well i just did my first blacklist an hour ago, but thats just for someone who had blacklisted me, and yes I know when they blacklisted me it prevented them from seeing or entering my giveaways, but on the off chance i ever giveaway something decent then i can rest assured they can't unblacklist and enter..
Anyway what i was going to say before i got absorbed into reading this thread and checking everyones profiles was; You can get blacklisted for anything and everything, i stopped putting cheap games as free for all entries and now I put them in Trains where I state that they are all bundle games, as i found I got blacklisted when i gave away lots of cheap Indiegala games so it doesn't clog up the giveaways page.
I was also going to blacklist people who didn't like sausage rolls, as that seemed as good a reason as any

Yeh. Getting blacklisted for giving away games, on a site named steam gifts, it's one of the hardest reasons to take in...but unfortunately, it happens a lot :) just keep your head up! At least you are not being blacklisted for being a bot, or being racist, or spaming stuff. That means, you are at least a decent person. You got that going for you.

I, personally, I only blacklist people that put pineapple on pizza.

I don't use my blacklist. People mostly apply reasons for blacklisting that I don't share. I don't want to exclude people because they have a different opinion than me, even if we had a heated discussion. I also don't want to exclude someone, just because he had a non-activated win at some point. I believe everyone deserves a second chance. Even a third or fourth one. Same goes for VAC bans. VAC is a horrible system in my opinion, and I despise the fact that people are marked for life (especially since false positives are actually possible). Someone who cheated once at the age of 14 10 years ago might be a very different person today. Everybody is of course free to blacklist whomever they want, but to me personally all these don't seem to be good reasons. I also would never blacklist someone for not thanking me for my giveaway. I don't expect anyone to thank me (even though most people do it), and I don't feel a GA was somehow not worth it because I didn't get a thank you in the end. A giveaway should be about the winner, not the GA creator.

I pretty much agree with everything you say. But sometimes it's better to block that person than hide 20 different giveaways for 20 different $0.49 asset flip games.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not sure about that. Cheap asset flips usually come from a specific source. A bundle, or maybe a cheap russian key site. What they all have in common is that usually a lot of people buy them. So if you block that one guy - even if he gives away 20 different asset flips - there are still 30 other people who give away the same 20 games. So, I would think it's probably easier to block the games in the long run, even if it may seem the other way around if you see a single guy running lots of asset flips at the same time. You will block those same games over and over by blacklisting the people who give them away. Also, blocking a game doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. Blocking a person might. :)

Funniest reason why I was blacklisted was because I "had too many games". Found out after I tried to write message to winner of my WL ga xD Fun fact - she removed me from bl the same day when cg implemented two-way blacklisting.

As for my reason - I like to judge people..

It was quite weird. And conversation I had with her was even weirder, also she was OK with blacklisting back. Then when CG made blackilsts work in 2 directions I removed most of my "revenge blacklist" and soon found out that I can enter her GA again xD Guess she updated her rules towards blacklisting xD
But honestly - I'm still confused :)

I had 2 or 3 that blacklisted me and as they seen in a thread that i posted 20+, mostly good, GA's they decided to take me, silently, down from their BL, the bad for them were that i blacklisted them too (i don't do that regular but if someone insult me i do it for sure), to prevent exactly such situations... and they whined then around that they are at my BL and why.
It was between strange and funny :-D

You still have to blacklist people manually xD It's just rule, that you cannot enter giweavays of people who are on your blacklisted.
You just see message that you can't enter this ga because you have blacklisted its creator.

I love it :)
