i've done this too and have had the same thoughts, because i've been unfriended for doing this before xD so i don't really seek out random people to try to gift to anymore, just let the friends list build up to have a chance of at least one friend having it wishlisted, to then offer to them

Your actions have really good intent, but people will sometimes ignore random invites unless you drop a comment in their profile.

It's a nice gesture, but I understand other givers experience. Next to light there is a darkness, also people have judgements . At the end it is a choice of the gifted one. I wouldn't worry, do what you are feeling is good. Marry Christmas.

Its hard to see random selfless acts like this, even thought its xmass. Odd to see people sending to their friends i nsteam, let alone complete strangers.

I don't think it's creepy at all. Truthfully, this world needs more people like you. I wish everyone would do random acts of kindness because you never know the impact it could have on a stranger at a time they need it most.

Personally I think thats a great idea. I do that at random times myself for friends when I can afford to :)

I personally don't accept random adds...if you don't leave a comment, I'll most likely decline the friend invite. But that's all stated on my profile. And yet, I still get ninja adds. Yeah, I know, people usually don't bother to read... ;)
Anyway... I don't think it's creepy. But if I were to do like you, I would definitely try to leave a comment saying why I'm sending an invite. Somehow, I think it's a bit more polite.
