Interesting, I'm having no problems with viewing gifs here on SG forums in FF. Some extension or script blocking it for you maybe? Could be even something not related to media files, I remember having some issues with some extensions on Chrome that were behaving weird on certain sites before.

I suspected that but was too lazy to try, but since you have taken the time to write that comment (thanks for that :)), I decided I will do it.
And what do you know, first thing I turn off is AdGuard, and gifs are now working. 🙄 Maybe I should move to uBlock.
