I see no problem. I myself have over 20 inches long hair and been having it long for like last 14 years ;p

Never ask for opinions, do as you please and live happy. Some will like, some will hate it, it's just the way it is.

Do whatever you want. I personally don't have long hair, but won't laugh at someone who has. Look funny, maybe. :)

One thing that bothers me about men with long hair is that they often don't take good care of it like women do, so it just looks unkempt. (On second thought, if they do take care of it like women, it would probably feel wrong to me.)

I feel a bit sad that you felt that you needed to make this poll. Even if everyone here answered they would laugh at long hair, you should try not to care. Everyone is allowed to keep whatever hair they like <3

The main "problem" with longer hair is the upkeep.
Long hair comes with a bunch of issues, washing (and subsequently drying) it takes longer and to keep yourself presentable you end up having to spend more money on it.
Or if you don't care, you may pay the price in first impressions going poorly much like if you were poorly dressed.

In certain professional fields long hair is a no-go, but since you're considering it I don't think that would be an issue.
Above mentioned in other comments, occasionally you may have someone calling on you from behind by a female definition - this makes them feel awkward so there's that...

So the main issue will be how you deal with it yourself. No, long hair itself won't make you ridiculous.
But treating it poorly may do so. In rare cases your hair may simply not allow it, some hair will not grow long.
Also consider your options in how you want to keep your hair and realize you'll spend a lot more time on grooming.

Showering in the evening may result in a wet pillow, showering in the morning in a wet shirt or if you're in a cold area other repercussions.
Again this also depends on your hair and how you deal with it.
But I highly doubt you'll be ridiculed for it.

I've got hair to about halfway down my back myself. And the worst that happens is the occasional "Miss?" when someone tries to get your attention.

As a guy with partially shaved, partially mid shoulder length hair and having gone out with a girl with a shaved head, only exception being a violet devils lock on top, I have to say I wouldn't laugh.
In fact, it is pretty common.
I think only about half a percent of the world's population [mostly in North Korea] at most are all that would make any kind of snarky comments.

More men look better in long hair than there are women who look good in short hair, but in the end it is all about what oneself thinks looks good (mostly), feck what others think, it's YOUR hair. >:

totally has long hair, started out because of laziness, but have grown (badum tish) to like it (except it takes that much longer and more schampoo to wash my hair now, not to mention that point when ones hair is only "medium-long" and it gets in your fucking eyes every second)

In my opinion a real man should have long hair...look back in history how many peoples had long-haired "heroes" and great warriors - Indians, Vikings, Highlander a.s.o. ... ;-)
And sorry, 6 inches is not real long.^^ But that is only my view of the things.

If you grow your hair long, you will stand out from the crowd and you can expect all kinds of reactions. From positive, through funny ( my fav is when someone asks "Excuse me miss..." and then you turn back - the look on their face cannot be bought) to the aggressive (had few fights bc of my looks). If you are afraid of that, long hair is not for you

I've had long hair since forever. Never noticed anyone "laughing", but then again, I'm super conservative with handing out fucks about that kinda shit anyway :D Grow it long, let it flow, do whatever the fuck you want brah. Your life, your body, your rules!

Just don't tie it into pigtails. Guys with pigtails always look weird. Otherwise, go nuts, do whatever you think makes you look good.
(Then again, I am a bit of an old-school metalhead. I've seen a lot of guys with long hair on and off stage at various concerts...)

Umm, I'm not really fond of it myself but that is just personal taste. If you think it will suit you, then go for it. At the end of the day, we only have one life so whatever makes you happy mate, do it :D.

I'm a 36 year old male without any problems with my sexuality and I've had long hair since I was 14. Nowadays I wear it in a pony tail... so I guess you can guess my answer to your question.

Try it and see if you like it... you can always cut it anytime you want.
