Actually, it's true. That's not a random forum. Forbes is a very prestigious business site. It's also been published in Kotaku, RockPaperShotgun among various news sources and aggregate sites.
But it doesn't change the fact that LoL's still child's play compared to Dota.

so does LOL, here on brazil we have championship every weekend and every end of month, so does every country that LOL hosts servers dedicated for. about the 1million prize, LOL on season 2 just did the same, and Taipei Assassins won it btw :)

Wasn't being a bigot, btw. I was one of those people who didn't care if my teammates are Russian or Brazilian, but not anymore. They proved time and time again that they are annoying, refuse to speak a language we all understand, and would rather play by themselves and not as part of a team. There are certainly a few exceptions, but for the most part, no thank you.

Well ya it's a pvp game, but not only BR plays that one. My cousin made me play it with him for a while, got repetitive fsat tho. I prefer Awesomenauts anyways. :P

I played a Digimon game when I was a kid (PS1 or 2, can't remember.) Within three "evolutions" most of them ended up as that turd-shaped one that was about as effective as it sounds. I prefer games where things get more awesome as they go ;)

I'm not denying that they are getting sales on it. TF2 used to be a paid game too. Not sure when they introduced all the hats/crates/keys to it, but with that model working so well for them there I have difficulty believing they won't go a similar route with Dota2

From a purely economical standpoint, yes. I don't play MOBAs (I find the communities in most of them to be horrible) so please don't try to convince me how one is better than the other.
Dota 2 and LoL are similar products, so money a consumer spends on one is likely money that will not be spent on the other. Look at it like this: Would Blizzard add RIFT to its system? Sure, they might earn some extra cash from the % they get for RIFT sales through their store. However they would also lose money from people choosing RIFT over WoW

League of legends was originally on steam. The file has been updated at least once in the past 3 months. GabeN has said before that he likes there being multiple games supporting esports. Of course the obvious comes out with can dota 2 and LoL sit side by side. I actually think riot is the reason it won't be on steam as they don't want to be next to dota 2.
