Great stuff, any chance you could remove that extra copy of a game I won a couple of years back whilst sleeping and let me into SGTools GAs please?
I did put that game up for reroll myself, not understanding the rules at the time and have been sanctioned for my honesty.

You are lucky one of the ga makers is still active
not cg's job to fix that, look here how:

+1
Edit: But users may abuse. For example a user joined a giveaway wit 100% possibility to win and then joined to others giveaways of that game. In conclusion he wins that game and gets +600 (for example) refunded points.

4 months has been passed but I am still waiting for a reroll. Can I submit a ticket by myself asking for a reroll?

I've asked the giveaway creator for more than 4 or 5 times in total, so I should submit a ticket by myself? Well, okay then. Thanks.

So, it would change nothing this feature.
it's for those times you sleep, if you win a game, it will automatically remove all your other entries so that you can't accidentally win it twice while you are asleep.
it's not a "feature" to utilize and enjoy or frankly even like. it's a prevention "feature".

Wow - thanks for the blacklist - it appears as though you are easily slighted :P (sad, very sad) - oh and the new rule is for giveaways won on this site, not ones you purchased outside of this site - those ones will stop being visible when you synch your account - thus meaning that you cannot, or should not, enter them - the one you are talking about occured because you chose to enter it - even though you knew you already owned it !!!!

To "choose" which one is getting rerolled :P
Let's say Dood and Doodette both make a giveaway for "Endless Mooing".
Both gibs end at the exact same time. Dood's gib however is a whitelist one where you know most of the other entrants and you like them. Doodette's gib is a public one with 3000 entries cause she's promoting her youtube channel, her latest video being "How to apply makeup with a condom on your pet iguana".
By some twist of fate you win both of those which remember, ended at the exact same moment. You liked Doodette's videos but since we're elitist scum we wanna keep that one and have Dood reroll his copy so it probably goes to someone we know and like(nepotism? where? nooooooo!!). With this change the system decided which copy you get and which is rerolled so now you end up taking Dood's copy and Doodette had an automatic reroll and landed with a guy with 24 non activated wins! Doodette rerolls! Oh! there! it landed on someone we like so it's okay :3
tl;dr We're scum that wanna control the system. Or just control freaks. Or both ._.
Personally I'd be more in favor of an automated reroll system though if the game is detected in the winner's library(user prompted, possibly problematic with free weekends again though) and this removing the entries when marked as received. It would still cut down on the ticket count significantly and at the same time cover a separate case(win a game after you buy it but didn't sync/remove) as long as we can avoid the free weekend pitfall

But it is possible to create an auto-leave option in settings. If the user does not play free weekends games, this would be good for him.

No, a user could still end up the winner of a giveaway, and then a different giveaway they entered in the past could be rerolled, causing them to have two wins for the same game.
And that's not cool. I believe, if I have game in my "won" list, and marked as received - it should not be used on rerolls. It may need extra logic, to prevent infinite rerolls, but it's totally worth it. I would say even more - if game is in my synced library already - it should also be automatically reroll too (of course, if giveaway is for a pack or a dlc - it won't work, but then it will just fallback to what we have now)
I can actually write down the logic needed, but I believe you know better.

I just won a game, which I joined a lot times, so I lost a few hundred points. But I won A game I really wanted, and now do not need to exit all these other GAs, so this is good.

And there was no risk of a multiple win, that you, the GA creator, and Support would have to deal with. Win for everybody!
(and congrats)

It's because they entered your giveaway after the other one was already over. This new feature only removes entries at the time of the win. Until they have activated the game & synchronized their Steamgifts account, they can still enter new giveaways for the same game.
Normally a person would know they won a game and won't enter more, but perhaps some people don't pay attention, or maybe they use auto-join scripts or bots or something...

Hey SG, I mentioned in a discussion yesterday that I was working on this feature, and I just wanted to write an announcement since it's complete. In short, when you win a game, the site will now check your other giveaway entries that are open, and remove those for the game you just won. It also works for giveaways ending at the same time. This helps to prevent you from accidentally winning a game more than once while you're sleeping, or away from the site.
FAQ
Does this happen when I win, or when I mark a gift as received?
It happens the moment you win. When users win a game more than once, it typically occurs before they even have time to visit the site. If we waited until a gift was marked as received, it would be too late in the majority of cases.
Do I get points refunded?
Yes, if any of your giveaway entries are automatically removed, we will refund the correct number of points, assuming you have less than the current maximum of 300.
Does this prevent all possibilities of winning a game more than once?
No, a user could still end up the winner of a giveaway, and then a different giveaway they entered in the past could be rerolled, causing them to have two wins for the same game. Or, a user could win a giveaway, believe they are not going to receive the gift from the giveaway creator, and start entering more giveaways for the same game, only to win again. We'll look at options to reduce these possibilities, but for now, this update covers most instances of multiple wins that we are seeing. Remember, if you ever win a game more than once, you should only redeem one copy, mark additional copies as not received, and ask those giveaway creators to request a new winner.
The main benefit of this update is the time and headaches it saves for everyone on the site. Last month we had 2,012 tickets requesting new winners because the current winners already won or purchased the game. That's nearly half of our Request New Winner tickets, or 25% of our total tickets. Overall, this is going to result in less explanations from giveaway winners, less tickets required from giveaway creators, and more sleep for the support team. It's a win-win-win.
Edit
This is now setup for rerolls as well. If a giveaway is rerolled and you're selected as the new winner, the site will remove your other giveaway entries that are currently open for the same game.
