Not everyone has a Tremorgames account, nor does everyone can just get 50 coins, but on the other hand the last one seemed to be added to the list, just opened up a whole discussion trying to give something away.
So how is the current state on it?

Note there are only 1000 copies.

There are people who have more than one account and avoid getting caught using a VPN since the creation of their 2nd, 3rd etc account at TremorGames. Not to mention i have seen many German members not getting caught while outright breaking the rules. The truth is, some people do 1 min. tasks to get the codes and give them away or even trade them.

Whenever you have a vpn running you already get a big warning, they ban easily, even with 2 people in the same household.

But those are execptions and not a standard, many that were banned easily.

Sure there are alot of scammers, and i'd say tremor makes a buck out of it so they might not ban those, i mean it's the companies behind the offers that get scammed, not tremor, that i agree.

The thing is that guy doesn't earn them any money since he never does any offers , he only trades in a bunch of csgo/tf2 items but ofc tremor doesn' tcare ,they think that rising the prices on item would make it harder for when in reality its only punishing the legit users

I don't think for tremor games as a free thing. You have to waste a couple of hours to earn coins, even for the "free" games.

Depends on where you live and what offers you get it can be 5-10 minutes only.

But in my eyes the free games they give are way more restricted than gleam or something like that.
In terms of abuseability and stock.

Most of the offers for my country are "spend one dollar in this app" or "register with a valid credit card". Maybe other people have an safer/easier way to get coins, but for me - it's not worth it.

Yeah, same here. For most offers I would end up with a 12 euro / week subscription. The only way for me to earn coins there is to play those games and that just takes way too long.

Yup, you're right. I was thinking for buying them at full price in steam. It's strange how expensive some games are, even if they're given for free, or are practically unplayable.

some developers keep the game prices it a minimum rate so when people buy the game during a sale, they profit from selling its cards.
and everyone profits from that, which is why steam never bothers taking them down since they profit from broken games

If marketing is not a job then why millions of people doing this job around the world are getting paid? I can agree that not all the jobs are the same, but we live in capitalist societies and in capitalism marketing is a crucial sector of economy. Thus, doing tasks for marketing purposes and get paid for that in sites like Tremor Games is indeed a job. Nobody would take shitty market surveys for free...

You stated an opinion without arguments and we're actually in a forum discussion - so I don't really care if i'll convince you or not :-)

When you spend time for something that's profitable for someone else and with your payment buy games for giveaways (and 'free' games in TG require indeed some "work") then you pay for it. Don't forget that people use steam wallet to "buy" games for giveaways or trade for the same purpose. Other are using money from family....

My entire "argument" (I call it my opinion - you say to-may-to, I say to-mah-to) was in my reply to the OP.

setting up multiple accounts to farm cards, grab as many keys from gleam and other promotions, then selling them on the market also take a lot of time, so it's considered work too.

why does steamgifts disable those games?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'm not sure you understand how Tremor Games site works. Actually they have a platform where marketing companies pay users for doing tasks for marketing purposes (eg. data collection, market surveys etc.). These companies make money from this work. They pay TG with real money and TG pays users with virtual currency with which they can buy games from the site. Their "free" games require an amount of work (not much if you live in a western country). If you don't work you don't get your "free" game. Other games (not free) require much more work - you may work for a week to buy Bioshock Infinite...

Setting multiple accounts to farm cards is not work because it does not generate revenue as marketing jobs...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

it does generate revenue for steam and the publisher/developer when cards are sold on the market.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Actually it doesn't. These 'money' are purely fictional as they can not be monetized. It's just a cycle of fictional numbers, you can buy and sell cards forever independently of Valve's economic activity.

However, if we follow this argument then every game in the market that could be bought with steam wallet money should be considered as 'free'.

Permalink

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

no, i didn't miss any point. i'm comparing how "working" on farming cards is the same as "working" on tremorgames to get coins.

wallet money is real, or steam would be bankrupt by now.

Comment has been collapsed.

well any game you can buy with steam wallet should be considered free? thats what hes trying to say

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's unclear if the devs are really being paid but that even in this case that's not the main point as you also are being paid with steam wallet money for farming cards. In any case tasks in Tremor Games is something way more different than simply opening Idle Master exploiting some other dev's work.

The main question is if marketing should be considered as work and if every compesation from it should be considered as 'gift' or as a payment. Obviously in capitalism IT IS a payment...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Steam gets 5% and the developer gets 10% which is why there is a price difference between what you sell a card for and what you actually get.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

This is what is supposed to happen but in reality it's impossible as Valve would economically collapse within hours. They can't pay Digital Homicide, for instance, 0.01ct for every single market transaction involving their games while their games are distributed for free via groups and giveaways. Nobody is buying cards with real money so it would be impossible for Valve to pay the devs accordingly.

putting in time/effort in exchange for a reimbursement

People get coins from doing this non-work, and they can get the following games on tremorgames.com

DayZ
NBA 2K15
Arma 3
Mad Max
Alien: Isolation
Mortal Combat X
Minecraft: Story Mode
etc...

http://www.tremorgames.com/index.php?action=shopbrowse&categoryid=5&mode=category&genre=0&steam_cat=0&sort=price_desc

So by your logic, all of these games should be added to the free games list?

Where does Support define the number of coins below which a game is considered free? Please share a link.

I guess you didn't check the linked post? Apparently one can get any of these games I listed with a week or so of non-work. BTW, none of these games cost 30,000 coins, but that's irrelevant, as neither you nor Support is putting any threshold for the number of coins - it can be 30, or 30,000 - there are no rules or guidelines that relate to this aspect.

Problem is, there is a lot games on tremor that you can get by completing their offers and not paying anything. The only difference between their usual rewards and "free" stuff is that you don't need to spend coins, BUT you still need to get them. Should other games that listed as rewards on tremor must be deleted from list as well, because some people can get coins within few minutes and this is not work in your definition?

I totally respect your opinion, you're even one of the people in SG with I identify myself the most in the way we view the site "ethics" and "morale". Just wanted to give my point of view (without trying to convince you). I personally play Tremorgames achievement games as there isn't many offers available in my region, and I already do surveys for Clixsense, so as surveys are per ip if I do it there I will lose the opportunity for doing it for Clixsense. And man, sometimes I take 10 minutes to get past a single level of some shitty game that I'm really hating playing. And that is to get like 5 coins. I can easily take 20min to get 10 coins from a game, sometimes faster, sometimes slower. Have in mind you need 99 to the most cheap ones, usually bundled in tier 1 before. So I can spend a good couple of hours to get $0.25 bundle value (or something like $1 CV value). Even if I cared about CV, it would be pointless doing Tremorgames for it.

Anyway, I do that because I think its a good way to get something for my free time and an opportunity to give away more than I originally could. And I don't see as something wrong because I think its hard enough. I get games there, but I lose free time, or at least make them way less enjoyable.

I personally see these things I do as small side jobs that pays in cheap games. I lose time and quality of life. There is days that I'm not whiling to lose that so I don't do anything. It can be a bit of sacrifice, trust me, people who do this don't think as an easy way to get a game. For some its the only way (younger kids with no job or cc, broken students, etc), and for some (me) its an extra opportunity to better manage free time and house income (as I spend less in games and can prioritize other areas in life) and to have more stuff to giveaway than I could originally.

Anyway I'm not trying to convince you. Just wanted to give my point of view. Even if you don't agree with me, perhaps you can understand why some people don't see it as something wrong. :/

I'm not commenting on anyone else's opinion, nor have I once said they're wrong. I have said I disagree with them, but only in reply to their direct replies to me. I haven't once replied to or commented to anyone who hasn't directly replied to me (and I won't). If people weren't trying to convince me contrary to my opinion, they'd just post their own in their own comment and move on. ;)

I respect their opinions (and yours) and won't try to say otherwise, even if I disagree with them. In that regard, I'd say I'm being much more understanding than they are. :P

I don't think it's really "free", you need to have an account, get 50 coins(that can be quite tricky for some, actually this is the reason why I don't even bother), the amount of keys is very limited and you can only get one key.

It's not really "free" in the sense that they still make you accrue a certain amount of points in order to be able to get it. They also have way limited copies (couple hundred) whereas other free giveaways it might be thousands or tens of thousands or what have you. Not sure what the rules on steamgifts are so they probably contradict.

Either way i could care less the game is not the best and even so it cannon fodder for bundles given the 4.99 what CV am i missing 50 cents or so.

Though i do think the time you have to take to get it and all that i would not even bother.Plus the site does not load right for me anyhow never has,why i am not sure even tried on a different internet,After a fresh install to boot.

You still have to signup then do some random boring crap to get the coins and i do not think it should be removed as it not open to anyone,to me to be free it should be open to everyone and not take making an account and earning something to get it or exploited like IGN prime was that i get why some of those games where removed but not this. Also some people can join the site but not earn a lot of points because of low task to do so.
