Watch at man, who is burnt by your fireball, is ok. Blow up the head of your enemy with your sniper rifle is ok. But watch at boobs isn't okay. This is ridiculous. Look like some people have a reaaaly BIG inferiority complex.

Kinda sad. I have started playing Hunie Pop not long ago and it's fun but kinda horrible how it pictures women.

Many of the games targeted don't have any explicit sexual content at all.

In games like HuniePop's case, it's weird. Outside of the images you get when you get to "3rd base" with a girl, sex is barely, if ever, referenced. Outside of "what's your favorite position", you just play Match 3 and enjoy a fun little puzzle game and some really funny jokes.

In Reddit people are theorycrafting that this might be because Blizzard is pressured by some weird far right Christian group, anyone know anything about that?

Blizzard? What have they to do with this? They run Battle.net (or however it is called now), Valve are the ones running Steam.

"Many of the games targeted don't have any explicit sexual content at all. "

What all these games have in common, is an uncut / adult, whatever you want to call it Patch. It is or was advertised and accessible directly via Steam Guides, in the forum or directly on the homepage and even via Steam Announcement. I just checked it took me only 2 minutes for all titles. There were only 2 games below where I did not find anything in this regard and that does not mean that they do not exist or have already been removed.

It's like putting a censored WW2 Game on Steam, ....because you have to or you can not publish it otherwise(German laws as example) but at the same time you put on the same page where you can buy or download it.... a download or another way to undo the changes of the cut version

I think that's Valve's problem otherwise there would be a lot more questionable titles and many more developers/publishers would have mail

So because these anime girls are cute and have small boobs they are underage. Just becasue there is sexual scenes means it should get banned. People need to get over it man. I've never played HuniePop but whatever... Its a game.

There are games with murder, rape, theft, racism, sexism and so much more yet those won't get touched because people don't like japanese animation...

To +1 your point: DayZ had people roleplaying a hodgepodge of all those and pc-magazines praised the shit out of it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yep, if DayZ had a cartoon element and was based in Japan then it would be labelled as perverted.

Honestly, it says more about the people judging. Most of these games do not state the age of these girls, so when a person looks at these girls that are being sexualised and think they are underaged when they look at it... Well... I do not want to be in their mind...

All these moviments Are the cancer of the world, recentylly the spotify was to remove the RHCP and Aerosmith songs because some "song content" and bad words, i hate some kind ativists and ONG's but sadly these games are gonna to be removed from steam, i hope valve change his mind.

Sexual content is allowed on steam but no sexual content games. That epic logic -.-
The same like, as developer you are allowed to add sexual content pictures of the game to the store page but as buyer you are not allowed to publish sexual content pictures on your own profile. -.- Thats the logic of Valve ^^

You might want to update the first post to add the new news at least so people wouldn't needlessly panic.

What new news?

All the "new" news I've seen is more and more developers coming out with the fact that they've been hit by the same kind of warning from Valve.

Edit: Nevermind, I found this after I answered your post.

Yeah, it's sort of why I'm trying to get OP to add such things so people would calm down for now (I know things aren't 100% out of the water yet)

To quote Hanako Games, "The list of games targeted includes Kindred Spirits, which was personally approved by Valve hand-checking every sexy image. It was the subject of a lot of PR. It is NOT a case of unknown porn that Valve just missed somehow, they approved it and now they are saying it’s not allowed."

From what I've heard, Kindred Spirits is about the most vanilla game you possibly could have made that includes sex scenes, too. It's a fluffy slice-of-life story about gay girls at a boarding school. The characters don't even have sexualized designs, for god's sake.

Shit, dude...I don't have all the achievements or cards for HuniePop yet. Why should they be taken off? They have Mature listed, that should be enough, and if someone underaged buys it and plays it, well, that's on their parents for letting them have a Steam account and not keeping track of their purchases.

Don't panic. Valve sent a follow-up email to disregard their original email.

My interpretation of this is that Morality in Media tried a different approach, spamming Valve with take-down complaints under their new, more serious sounding name, and it happened to get through to someone not experienced with their crap. It took about a day, but it seems once someone at Valve realized what happened, a retraction went out to the developers. Not sure if anyone got fired over this (from what I know about Valve's employment policies, I doubt it), but I'm sure Valve wishes it hadn't happened. They apparently need to work on the procedures they have in place regarding communication with developers.

One of the affected developers, Hanako Games has a game, Black Closet, two-thirds off this week (unrelated to this kerfuffle, as far as I can tell).

Frankly, this sorta things are called "fascism" in sane circles...

Edit: Before anybody helps me to the latest developments on the issue - this here instance of panic is neither blind or needless.
PCness just plain needs to die and the sooner the better. Censorship dogs, morality guardians and gun-grabbers terrify me T_T
