I've had some really good cigars and some really bad cigars. Pretty much all of the ones you can buy from any local gas station or convenience store are crap. If you want a good cigar, you really need to go to a cigar shop. But also, really good cigars aren't cheap, so I'd say don't bother unless you literally have money to burn, or it's a special occasion.

I have smoked many things and about every form of tobacco, and cigars are pretty far down on my list. Too harsh for me. I don't smoke anymore in any form, but still have an affinity for pipes. Pipe tobacco is a truly pleasurable experience for me. It's an art to pack the pipe just right to enjoy it for awhile but not overheat it. Smooth and cool. It smells way better than cigs or cigars and tastes better/cooler(literally colder)/more flavorful.
Nothing you light on fire and suck into any part of your respiratory system is a good idea for any stretch of time, but if I smoke again, it will be a pipe.

Went through a stage of smoking them in University, normally when I felt I wad to drunk. Didn't want more alcohol, but needed something to do with my hands.
Regretted it every morning after. IMO they smell bad, taste bad, and aren't cheap,

Very rarely, but a decent cigar and a good single malt whisky or glass of imperial stout are a supreme, decadent combination.
Emphasis on the word "good", as cheap cigars and whisky are almost universally awful, so don't even think about Jack Daniels, Famous Grouse or cheap, crappy "made in Wanganui" cigars...

Pfft, Jack Daniels is my drink of choice, you silly woodchuck. Not that I can afford that most of the time, so the REAL good stuff is way out of my price range.

:P
Different strokes for different folks :)
IMO there really isn't any comparison to a good Scottish single malt though...

"made in Wanganui" Made me chuckle.
I didn't realize you were such a high class, cigar puffin, drink in hand, in front of a blazing fire, kind of guy. Just give me my cheap Waikato that's probably taken out of the river and I'll be right.

I always wondered how they managed to achieve that unique hue :)

Originally, I tried cigars because I liked the idea of breathing out clouds of smoke without actually smoking (like cigarettes). A good cigar can be a great thing and its all about finding the right characteristics for your preference. I like something generally mild, with a smooth draw, but spicy notes. Like all indulgences, you get what you pay for and considering cigars shouldn't really be smoked all that often, it's worth splurging and spending for a good one.

i dont smoke at all, hate it actually, huge turnoff for me... but once in a cyan moon, special occasions, i will have a stog. and actually ur supposed to bite the end of a cigar when draggin on it... not a rip to shreds bite just a nib

I have no tolerance for people who poison my air. The awful smell that comes off any smoker is bad enough as it is, but I can't stand those who insist on smoking anywhere near me. Since there are absolutely no upside whatsoever to smoking, it should just be illegal.

Calm down man. Let's ban everything I don't like...

You can tolerate something that doesn't directly affects you, which is not the case with cigarette/cigar smoke. Hating on smokers because their behaviour sometimes can be selfish or bring disconfort (or pain, in the cases of allergies) to those around them, is not in my eyes a case for a low tolerance accusation.

Tolerance is defined as an acceptance or patience with the beliefs, opinions or practices of others; a lack of bigotry.
When smokers insists on harming others with their smoke, gets you nauseated by walking up to you with their breath and clothes smelling of smoke and clogging the health system from their nasty habit, it's no longer a question of tolerance.
Let's see how tolerant you'd be if I decided to take a dump right beside your desk, as to me cigarette/cigar smoke is just as disgusting.

I don't smoke and I don't like it. But there's a way from that to hating everyone. Also one thing is being a smoker and another being a douchebag.

Well I used to be a smoker myself, but quit. Than after a smokeless year comes a cigar out of nowhere (I was half cut, but that is usually not a probelm, I can still resist the urge to have a smoke)than comes and other and than a cigarette. I managed to stop in time, but I wouldn't recommend even trying it. I stick to water pipes(hookah) nowadays, it's a nice alternative, good flavour, clean smoke, no addiction :)
