After seeing the "Did you ever cry because of a game?" Thread made me curious about this one~ Since both of those topics have quite same in common, If you don't know why you cry because of things like those, It's because you set yourself in the same position as someone in the game/movie/anime/Tv Series and you are able to experience the same, Even tho you know that it's only a game/movie/anime/Tv Series, Because some of your brain doesn't know about it, that's why those things are so addicting to us and give us emotions by them, Anger,Fear,Sadness,Depression,Happiness,Excitement,Embarrassment.
So the question is have any movie or anime made you cry?

Yes, in the manga (And anime) gantz (Normally a gory anime/manga) there is just one moment where a grandma is so brave for her grandchild and yeah...

Its a really touching moment

My mom says (usually when I make a sadistic jerkass remark about something or she sees me blow someone's head off in a game) that when I was little I cried for some whale in a movie... I dunno which movie it was but apparently I was a pussy then (suggesting that some movies don't still bring me to manly tears, lol).

From what I know, the reason we cry about movies/anime/games/whatever is because of empathy. If you have strong empathy, then you can easily emphasize with anything (heck, I can even emphasize with inanimate objects as weird and absurd as that sounds) and if you think that a character is feeling like crying you may feel like crying too. Of course, since it's their emotions and not your own, the crying ends up coming out being completely unintentional.
... Wait, I just basically said the same as what you did in the OP... ops. Well, I'm not deleting that. :P

usually want to cry because of the musical accompaniment. when in the Lord of the Rings signaling torch lit, or at the opera. Especially I want to cry when he plays live orchestral music.I cried a lot because of the movies and books. I can not remember all case. I remember particularly well after watching Requiem for a Dream. When the music began, and showed all the characters and what brought them to the drugs.

Could it be that you're part of the reason why the sea level is rising, making it higher with your salty tears? Because considering how many I know watch anime often, I think it would be enough to fill an ocean and then some
