In your account, obviously.

I have 3 sections: beta, multiplayer and games.

I'm not very creative, I hope you have ideas

There's a simple, free program called "Depressurizer" that lets you add/remove/rename/save your steam categories.

Most conveniently, you can organize game titles in batches, instead of dealing with them one-at-a-time!

categories:
Boogity-Boogity-Boogity
Murder Inc (FPS or anything that's basically KETM - Hammerfight is in there because it's just rowdy as hell for example)
Old School (quarter-munchers whether they would normally fit in other categories or not)
War Is Hell (some FPS will land here if it's specifically war-related such as Day of Defeat)

everything else stays in the default Games category - I might make a Puzzling category but no real need

I used to organize them by genre, but it kept getting deleted and going back to normal. So now it's just a mess.

EDIT: If I got a full serie of games like Half Life or Hitman I created new folder just for them.

Plain 'Favourites' and the alphabetical fuckfest. I add any game I'm currently playing into Favourites and if I stop playing it I remove it.

Playable
Unplayable

I own a lot of games I can't play on this computer (because it's trash), but I plan on getting a better computer soon. I try to acquire all the HIBs, as well as games on a very low sale that I know I'll want to play later.

I have "Bullshit", "Non-Steam Games" and "Games". Under "Bullshit" goes games like "Bad Rats", under "Non-Steam Games" goes all Non-Steam games I have installed and under "Games" goes other Steam games that doesn't go under "Bullshit".:)

Been considering being more creative with categories...

well i have all games starting with the letter b, after the ones starting with a. I also have all games starting with c, after b, and those starting with d after c, and e after d, BUT, i have some games starting with T, such as THE elder scrolls, mixed in with those starting with E... im just strange like that. Now heres where it gets tricky, i put games starting with f, after those starting with e, g games after f, h after g, i after h, j after i, k after j, l after k, m after l, n after m, o after n, and p after o. But i dont stop there, no sir. games starting with q i like to have next in my order, followed by games starting with r, then those starting with s. Games starting with T follow after those starting with s, then ive actually listed games starting with u, next comes v, i also have games starting with w following that, then games starting with x, and finally, i organised zeno clash, zombie shooter and zombie shooter 2 right at the end, because they didnt really fit anywhere else.

I'm tempted to gift you "7 Wonders", just to destroy your system. How I would laugh, and laugh, and laugh for the whole 15 seconds it would take to enter that new number into your categories.

FYI: The gift is not gonna happen :p

  • Completed (Games completed :P)
  • Other/Media (Non-Games)
  • Non-Steam (Usually DRM free games etc. Like GOG)
  • MMOs (MMOs)
  • Steam Gifts (Games I've won, so I don't forget to play them)
  • Currently Playing
  • Demo/Beta
  • Graveyard (games that I wish death upon, and will never touch again)
  • Games (where everything else goes, that has yet to earn a category)

I just dump everything I'm interested in playing in favorites, and I'll launch what I've been playing from the shell menu off the icon.

Favourites (obvious what); Gifts (what I got from friends); Hidden (games that are OK but not really into them now); HIB (obvious what); IndieGala (obvious again); IndieRoyale (this one isn't obvious, obviously); Trash (games I don't like); and all others

I have a separate section for F2P games but other than that I just leave it in alphabetical and filter by installed which is more than manageable :)
