I picked Hare because I love Bugs Bunny and also because of this:

I picked Corgi too.
If there is a team swap down the line, I'll probably switch to Tortoise...

Corgi does seem to be going pretty well thou at least ;)

I finally ran out of steam. Made $20, but looks like I'll have to use my money to get another $5. Yes, I know it's all messed up, unbalanced, unfair and a bit confusing, but I started with many boosts available, and a very high capacity. Something to do with lots of Lunar points left over that I had forgotten to do anything with. Have not made any purchases apart from using the $5 tokens (each separately) topped up with a few dollars of wallet money, as no change is given.

I thought I understood it until I made a purchase and my maximum capacity went down... So... byebye discount oh and also remaining lunar token? Forgotten by steam on my account.
If they can't make work something complicated they should just redo something that is already working and the community liked, saliens seemed nice for exemple. Novelty is overrated duh.

I'm a pig, but I still have to understand how it works.. I'll take a look in the next days! =P

I am confused by it.... Upgrade your Boost Meter's capacity or throw away the extra 53301... so I have to spend money to claim all these points or if I just claim them now I get a measly 700 and lose the rest, that is pure garbage.

So you know how every sale developers end with their games on more wishlists than they started with. Apparently this sale the trend is the exact opposite likely thanks to the grand prix "win a game on your wishlist" and users not understanding that it is the game on the top of the wishlist rather than a random one resulting in wishlists getting purged. Also, I can't imagine that removing any reward from using the discovery queue is helping either. There are some examples in this twitter thread:
https://twitter.com/zarkonnen_com/status/1144146485627539456
On a personal note I seem to recall the last time Valve did the win game on wishlist lower cost games such as Papers Please ranked highly (wasn't top 3 though, which is all we have for this variant).
Comment has been collapsed.
You only need to play those games for 30 mins without necessarily unlocking more achievements. (Previous achievement points count). The key though is the capacity. You either started with a higher capacity (from previous spending or unused Lunar points), or you'll need to buy games in order to gain more capacity. 100 capacity is added every day, which is not worth much. So redeeming your 11 834 point game tomorrow, will only yield 100 boost points, if capacity is currently at 0. Capacity is drained using boosts.
Your current capacity is shown just above the boost meter.

I don't understand why on main page of event, it says 27,840 POINTS EARNED, but i got 9921 tokens.
And i just used 100 for lvl 1 badge since event started, no background, no emot, no discount.
I messaged steam support without much hope to know where are the 27840 - 9921 = 17919 missing tokens.
(I tried after purchase 1000 points -> 1000 tokens. But most of my points used first hour of sale just vanished, never converted to tokens.)

27,840 POINTS EARNED
but i got 9921 tokens
There's your problem. You're assuming they're the same thing, and they're not.
You get points by completing quests (aka getting achievements in the games they've listed for you).
You get boost capacity by purchasing in the store, with all purchases between the Lunar Sale and now counting toward boost.
Your points are "fuel" for your boost, with your boost capacity being the maximum amount of "fuel" you can use at one time.
You use your boost to help your team win, and the amount you've boosted is converted from points to tokens, which you can then spend.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes but at start of sale, i had like 25 boosts ready (approximatively, i know no more precisely)
And after i used them all, just received something like 6500 tokens.
I mean, some of these boosts didn't convert to tokens. Some boosts gave +1000 tokens. And some others gave... nothing. It was first hour of sale, maybe a bug because of overloaded server ?
(3400 more tokens are from purchases)

It's either because you didn't have enough boost capacity to convert all your points to tokens ...
You got a a lot of those points after you used all your boosts. Points are "pointless" (err, sorry) without any boost capacity.
Edit: The thing most people seem to be upset about (and somewhat understandably so) is that boost capacity resets every day, so after your initial boost of boosts (I just can't help myself ... ) you don't get as much boost capacity the following days without further purchases in the store.
Comment has been collapsed.
I understand the points themselves are useless, but i mean, at start of the sale, i could click approximatively 25x on turbo.
Not the same ? I mean, i clicked like 25x on turbo approximatively and received 6500 tokens day 1.
I know i'm very slow to understand but something looks like buggy here in my eyes. It's not points before converting them with capacity i lost, it's turbo already ready to be used.
Comment has been collapsed.
So the 25x i clicked turbo at start, it was just normal it gave nothing ?
It's turbo that gives nothing ?
The turbo i received and activated since after purchases gave me tokens. After that i received 3400 more capacity points, that i converted to 3400 tokens using 4 x turbo : 3x1000 + 1x400
But i can admit that turbo from start of sale is not the same than turbo from purchase and turbo from start of sale is useless ? Even if it souds like super strange !!!
Comment has been collapsed.
It only returns in tokens (per each time you clicked boost) whatever amount of "fuel" (points from achievements) you had in the "tank" (your boost capacity).
At best guess, It sounds like you had a lot of achievements unlocked for the event, but hadn't made many purchases since the last event, so you didn't have enough boost capacity to take advantage of all the achievements you'd unlocked.
If you do make any purchases this sale, unlock some achievements the same day to "fill the tank", and then use your boost that same day, so you don't lose it the next. (You can also load up any game you've previously played with unlocked achievements for 30 minutes to get it to show up in your list of games for the event. You'll be rewarded points despite those achievements already being unlocked.)

So the 25 boosts already ready that i used at start of event just vanished ? I can say goodbye to related points ?
You see that this kind of event is far too complicated for people like me. But it's like they did it on purpose to confuse and push to buy. But why do they think we would buy more if we are more confused ? I mean, they really think in the confusion i'll spend 15000 / 121 = 124€ to get a 5$ discount ???
Anyway, thanks a lot for your answers, even if you guessed it, i undersood nothing and i'm still absolutely puzzled !!! XD

Yes, which is unfortunate and probably why most are frustrated with the event. It doesn't help that they also included purchases made prior to the event, because most people received a large amount of boost/fuel that first day and were expecting more the following days. (And it also doesn't help that boost capacity resets every day).
You see that this kind of event is far too complicated for people like me.
Once I realized purchases increase the size of the gas tank, and achievements are fuel, it made more sense to me. Like I said, though, that first day had everyone confused because of the inclusion of the Lunar Sale tokens and the boost from prior purchases. By the second day, it was much clearer how it worked.

"Once I realized purchases increase the size of the gas tank, and achievements are fuel, it made more sense to me."
I understand that part. That purchases increase gaz tank and achievements fill it. That way i got points from purchases day 2.
But what i see is
1 free boost first day = doesn't give 1000 tokens
1 boost from purchase second day = gives 1000 tokens.
In my eyes it looks like that. Once more, they knew it would confuse many users.
It's not very ethical on their part.
They should have said "free boosts from day 1" don't give tokens ; just "purchases boosts" give tokens.
They could just have said : "receive 5€ discount for every 124€ you spend" (but they didn't, because they wanted us to be confused.)
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm confused by the tokens also, there doesn't seem to be anywhere that it explains the conversion rate from 'boost points' to tokens.
I started the sale with 5200 points, so far I've bought nothing, only just joined a team (so day 2?), so I'm guessing the majority of those points are from the Lunar Sale (but I can't check now, because they removed that bit of information from the FAQ).
I boosted once, spent 1000 points, went to pit-stop and got 1000 tokens. So I went back to the grandprix and used the rest of my tokens on boosts. Even the 200 points disappeared so now I have zero points. Went to pit-stop and only have 2100 tokens.
I just don't get it, and it doesn't really motivate me to participate.

So it would appear that Valve have re-written the rules (yet again) and now the "Increase your boost meter's capacity" section has been renamed "Increase your max points" and maybe the red section of the boost is gone or something.
Couldn't tell you because I have no max points (I did have -1700 thanks to refunds yesterday so I'm guessing I still have something like that) and the achievements section says "NO CAPACITY AVAILABLE Upgrade your maximum points or wait until tomorrow to claim your points".
I really dislike the retroactive renaming of things without any acknowledgement of "yes we messed up". The wishlist thing I posted earlier had a similar re-wording to add the phrase "the top item from their Steam Wishlist" (which was previously in the small text on the rules page).

It is okay, they have been doing sale events only for 8 years now. I am sure that they will eventually learn how to do one without utterly fucking up something. The fact that even monkeys can learn faster from their mistakes should not deter us, we must believe that one day they will find a person who knows how to write down information in a way that is understandable.
Comment has been collapsed.
Apparently the your maximum capacity doesn't decrease when you boost now. If this is not a bug it means the event is now playable, and stupid things like 5459854265714/100 pts per day are less likely to happen. I dunno if the quests are still broken though (I tried playing Stardew today but none of the quests registered).
Comment has been collapsed.
So, was the max point capacity only for one single boost?
It says "for every 1€ you spend on Steam, you will increase your maximum points that you can earn by 121 points." in the driver's manual. Yesterday I spent around 8 on the store, so I assumed my point capacity would increase with over a thousand. It did seem that I was able to claim more of the points from achievements, but today when I look at claiming points it just says "You only have capacity to claim 100 points. Upgrade your maximum points or throw away the extra." What the?!?
Comment has been collapsed.
well actually it took me 2 days to understand how this game works and it seems that the event itself is not broken however the quests are broken at least for me . the total max points is actually increasing by 100 each day but that's it , you will need to spend money to increase the max points limit but not the nitro boost meter limit which is 100 and resets to 100 everyday so without spending anything the max points you will get in the event cannot exceed 1200 points which can get you nothing. i'm really dissapointed with how Valve Steam made this event especially with the growing competition between the stores . this event is the complete opposite of fun and just a waste of effort and money , even during the lunar sale you were able to claim 5$ discount voucher when spending 30$ and another 10$ voucher after spending another 100$ and still have enough coins to get the emojis and backgrounds and the badges you want but here you need to spend at least 138$ to be able to get the 5$ voucher at the end of the event and by doing so you will have nothing left to claim any badge or emoticon . not to mention the starting points sole people got while spending way less than most of us prior to the sale . to sum it up this worst event ever and i already started getting some of my wishlisted games from gmg and gave up on this summer sale event , for the other games i'll just wait for them to get discounted another time since there is absoloutely no point on spending my savings on steam during this sale

so after spending 6 bucks yesterday and increasing my max capacity i'm back to 100 max capacity today?
what?? did i miss the joke?
complete waste of time indeed.

I feel ya, though I didn't buy anything, was at only 100 an hour ago, used that, so back to zero, and now suddenly had 2000? This whole thing is such a mess, I can't even begin to describe it.

None of the options capture what I think: I don't care.
I'm an adult, I have shit to do, a house to take care of, family. When I get some time to game, I want to game. Not worry about some arbitrary internet points or bullshit.
To those that find joy in this, have fun!

Apology post complete with animated gif of how to sort wishlist:
https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1612767708777544444
Except even that isn't working correctly it seems. I only got the compensation 1000 for day 1 and so far nothing for days 2 and 3 (not even the 100). I also have 2700 tickets for 3400 points used. where did my other tickets go? I assume these are bugs due to the refund I did.

So... did they shadownerf Corgi. Like secret penalty per user applied? Cause that would be... ugh.
But I guess good for all the other teams that can now win and have like /5000th the users.
Also I guess we can forget about fixing the broken day 1 points; Massive extremes, people getting nothing and the negative balance folks :/
Also funny they mention explore Steam but nothing is really incentivised to be used. Discovery Queue use did that, now it gives nothing. What part of Steam are we supposed to "experience"?
Comment has been collapsed.
It's not even a shadow nerf, they outright said it in the announcement. Not only did they change the rules, they also nerfed Corgi.
How to fix this event at this point: Completely remove the game, give EVERYONE 20,000 tokens to get a discount/profile garbage, and make every dollar spent give you 100 tokens instead of boost """capacity""" since the game is gone.

Gotta love changing the rules mid-game.
This update reminds me of the Bethesda E3 conference apologizing for Fallout 76. Feels half-hearted, doesn't really fix anything, and leaves people just as peeved if not more so.
I'm so glad they neutered Corgi even though it has so many people on the team that a guaranteed win for them meant you had an astronomically low chance of getting a prize. Now you don't even have a guarantee which gives every other team a significant advantage making them a much better choice.
I swear there is some form of corporate subterfuge going on at Valve. That EGS employee is a spy, Gabe.

Is anyone else finding that their points aren't being converted to tokens when they boost?
I should have around 33,000 tokens if 1000 points = 1000 tokens, but I've only gotten about 9,000 tokens...

This is quickly becoming one of the worst events in the history of Steam. If boost capacity doesn't reset daily there is no salvaging it.
But hey, at least we get a 1:20,000,000 chance to win a free game.
