Enjoying the new event?
I never cared for any of the sale events really. I at least appreciated the art during the Christmas event, but the random game stuff whatever... And what we all appreciate is seeing those "-%" everywhere :D

Well here i'm again commenting on this bugged event. Apparently what i thought was a done event for me was a bug with the event. I play a game which many people will probably not play, which is free, so on the first day i got around 1300 points and boost. Yesterday i was suppose to get the same, but apparently i did not because of a bug. So today as always a get to check out the run to see where my team is and surprise, surprise i got another 1300 points to boost and to add to my badge. Well i guess check your event again guys they might have fixed and you might have some points to spent.

Now that it's been a few days more into the event, I'm still kind of confused but I think I'm catching on. You earn points by playing games (and increase your points capacity by buying games? idk, cuz when i bought a few more games today it said to join the event to earn coins for it, so maybe i'm just hopelessly bugged), which you use to play the event and earn coins, which are there to spend on the event goodies like the badge and the backgrounds. And then you hope that you win a free game somewhere along the way.
But I just don't understand why there's so many steps to it. Why not just have the points for prizes instead of "earn points to earn coins to earn prizes." That's how it was in the older events that this one is trying to emulate so much. Like the 2011 summer event, for example. You got tickets from your achievements earned, and then you could either spend them on goodies or save them to increase your chances in the wishlist giveaway.
Well whatever, I just want the higher-level badge with the space rover on it anyway, that's genuinely the only reason i'm still hanging around.

I think they think tried REALLY hard to block traders and SAMusers and thus created a system where achievements mean nothing (but you still have to go through the effort to idle 30m) to circumvent SAM-abuse of the old event, and then offer only non-tradeable stuff so alts can't help you boost your badge.
But by making it so abuse-proof it also made it pure p2w and devoid of fun and life :/.

Somehow, they are making it either even more buggy or even worse each day. I thought they fixed everything yesterday, when they gave us the 2K capacity and claimed to have balanced the teams a little... but nope. It's even more stupid then before.
Winning teams were completely fucking random, capacity is back to just 100 (and with zero points to spend this time)... Fuck me running.

Sorry I didn't have time to look at this and I spent 10k points first day on a badge though I don't care about them.

It's not. That was a one time apology bonus for the lack of clarity and bugs in the first couple days. We're only getting 100 capacity per day unless we spend money.

So I can now extend my max points to 12.000 with this new gimmick, but that does not mean that I can build up 24k coins in two days. My max points in Grand Prix also limit my total max coins in Pit Stop and I can't go over that limit by accumulating days. Did I get it ?

looks like they added new quests to increase the boost capacity. and it seems to work. at least for today hue hue.
at the same time it seems they wrecked the race. again. teams gain and lose progress noticeable every second.

I do like the changes they made to the daily cap, though. If we're be able to redeem up to 2K points each day from now on (4x tasks awarding 500 cap each), then it's actually a progress in my opinion :)

I think the tasks are a one-time thing? They haven't really been clear on that. But even if it's just an extra 2,000 points one time only, it's still a nice gesture. (Plus it's given me an excuse to add a bunch more games to my wishlist and play some stuff from my backlog, which is always welcome.)

I did them yesterday, got my max points up by 1,500, and then lost all that when they gave the +100 for today. It doesn't look like they'll let me do the Grand Prix Quest tasks again, so I'd say spend it right away if you have it. :/

Lastly, we've heard you on the Grand Prix Badge. Man that thing is hefty! It is awarding signficantly more XP than intended. We'll be fixing this bug soon, lightening the value of the badge. While this may be dissappointing in the short term, we want to respect the value of past and future badges earned and feel this correction is the fairest measure we can take to make things right. If you no longer love your Grand Prix Badge, you will be able to exchange it at the Pit Stop for the number of of tokens you've spent on it.

The Grand Prix Badge is no longer infinitely upgradable. If you've already upgraded your badge beyond level 2000, you are in luck! All upgrades will be honored. Badges obtained through exploits have already been removed.

Sale is what it is, but the accompanying event is a train wreck. Tokens seem to have been randomly handed out or glitched, so for some a discount is impossible and others are stacking them.
The nerf means Corgi will never win again. Members should be allowed to change teams. They're miles behind today despite 4x the boost of other teams and are still falling further back. You can hardly blame people for picking a team based on the current game mechanic, the punishment for that was having a lower chance of winning a game as there was far more of them. It wasn't an issue than needed solving.
Now you have a huge part of the userbase with 0 chance to win. Massive steam fail.

Well I think that most of the people joined Corgi will be unable to win and the amount of sale would also decrease as it's no point buying to boost as the new coding make it impossible for Corgi to win unless everyone make a decent amount of purchase. I think that alot of limited account also joined Corgi. Rage incoming :D

This event from the beginning was about choosing the right team. At first you had to take into consideration both the chance of winning by the team and the number of participants, now when they "equalized" the chances it's even simpler. Team Pig will be the statistical winner as the smallest one.
Is it really that hard to create a balanced event, enjoyable to everybody?

This is quickly becoming one of the worst events in the history of Steam. If boost capacity doesn't reset daily there is no salvaging it.
