How do you like the Steam Grand Prix?

I don't mind this event, because it frees up my day to do other things (like play games), but I wouldn't mind if they brought back the more interactive events like the Saliens or the minigame from the Monster Summer Sale in 2015.

To be honest, though, I never really see any point in complaining about something "extra." If I'm eating a steak dinner and they toss in a free slice of pie, I tend to not complain if the pie isn't great. And believe me, I take pie far more seriously than I do Steam events. :D

Sale is quite good for me - 3 games bought but that race thing is piece of crap... And changing exp for badge after 5 days is just sad joke.

I've done the daily task, but I cannot do the mission because the games don't appear anymore. I try to use the boost but nothing happens. I have no idea if I'm the problem or the event is XD

Easily the worst one they made so far.

No cards because they were working on this... yeah.

I bet there is a history behind all this mess they promoted...
Probably a few hours before sales they wake up and thought "damn, tomorrow is the sale, totally forgot about the event".
So, they open a notepad and wrote all that rules in a few min, made an art and bam, ready for sale day.

It went from minor inconvience to making my blood boil.

do the new Qualifier Tasks give point boost everyday? If so everyone can reach 15000 easily before sale ends o.o

Valve made everything they could so people can't use bots.
This is only reason why they didn't made cards for this event. You have to get points from achievements so bot accounts can't get anything from events.
I get that bot farming is problem for valve but im sure they could make something better than this.

So I'm actually at 9,731 Points Boosted / 9,035 Max Points...

i think valve intentionally overcomplicated the event, to mask their true intent.
They reached a point, where they can only aim towards increasing sales numbers per customer.
The meme, has never been as real as it is now...prepare your wallets for future sales !

Dammit. Started the day at 22,000 / 14,779, Boosted just in case to see if it works and went to 23,000 / 14,779 with no 100 daily tokens.

Looks like I'm completely locked out of token acquisition until they fix it. Probably related to the bug for the past few days that incremented my distance by 1,000 / 1,000 regardless of the actual distance covered or tokens awarded.

Its telling me I reached my limit for today, but my limit should be much more than 100.

You guys remember when we got the discount for spending X in the store (considering the values where different for each region)? Now that was a nice event. I think it was the best steam sale in years. That was the last time I spent money on games, and only because of the discount. But this? This is honestly a joke.

How do they keep making this worse? It's insanity.

If they want to counter bot farm, they can simply reward those account with how much they had spend in past then give some discount on it rather than come out this bug event.
Let say particular account had spend US500 in steam from start until now then valve give this account US5 discount in this summer purchase.
Then for US2000 account, they may get US20 something. Those bot account will not have money spend on steam so they cannot abuse it.

So, apparently, those four side activities to raise the maximum point value was just for yesterday only. After 13 hours into the current day, they sit at completed and the number of points I can use at 100.
Again.

I wonder now: do we know a single aspect of this sale event Valve didn't fuck up? A single feature or activity where the code didn't turn out to be a buggy and/or exploitable mess?

They really should stick to discovery queues and random card drops. At least they only fuck up one or two days out of ten, not every single one of them. Or heck, just have discounts on games. Maybe the site won't implode under it for a change.

Im still wonder why i start with negative token balance, according Steam:
You've earned 33,730 tokens total (including 10,286 converted Lunar New Year tokens).
But after buying a lvl 1 badge (100 tokens) and the Corgi emoji (100 tokens), i only have 14330 tokens, i remember when i start to BOOST my team and go to pits i see a negative value for my tokens, now i know for sure that my start count for tokens was about -19000 (negative value)

i think this is total bugged... i miss the token i should have get from the lunar sale and i lost max. points despite i bought something.

I joined a team, that worked fine so it's not all bad. Why would anyone bother one second with anything else is still beyond me.

luckily i had wasted those points before it bugged out, because i went back to 7k boost
