Thank you for the hug, Pete.:)
I'm going to give you and your three cats a great big hug back!:) {{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}

Ah, I feel you :[. The neighbors of my girl had two little cats (in German they usually called 'Maikätzchen', literally translated 'may kitties', meaning the ones that stay small and cute :>) and they both died last year shortly after another due to also getting hit by cars. They always visited her cat, who is a fullblown psycho and fights every other cat he sees, but those two seem to had a calming effect on him, convincing him to let them even sleep in his bed and eat his food :D.
Always hard to see something innocent vanish, but kudos to you for preventing the kids to see her like that.
BTW - strange coincidence, but one of them was also called Audrey :o.

Thank you.:)
I feel sorry for her cat as well, as I am sure he will miss them in his own way. :(
I appreciate that gif very much! I have saved it to my computer. I have seen it before, but it means more to me today.:) Thank you.:)

Thank you. While I love dogs (my Avatar is Nizzie, the late dog that my parents owned), I find I have a huge soft spot for kittens and cats as well.:)

{{{hugs}}} you back!:)

Hugs. It's really hard to make sense of things when an animal you cared for is happy and healthy one moment, and then suddenly all that is gone. Many sympathies from me, as the same thing happened to my neighbour's sweet little cat, and though she survived long enough for us to drive her and her owner to the vet, she didn't make it. It's tough to witness a life ending in that way.

Thank you very much for the hugs.:)
I'm sorry to hear about that poor cat! I guess a small measure of solace could be taken that her owner got to say goodbye to her (as hard as that would have been). :(

Thank you for the before-bedtime hug!:)
There was a man that I was talking to while I was trying to pick her up, but I thought he was just someone else from the street that had seen what had happened and was seeing if there was anything that could be done. I was muttering that the driver was a jerk, and idiots always speed down the street, and that the driver didn't even care. The man I was talking to sounded quite sad about what had happened, and I didn't learn until after that the man had been the driver of the car. He must have stopped his car and walked over while I was in the house looking for something to place her body in.
I feel bad for saying those things, as I don't even think he was at fault for this tragedy. There was another cat (their other neighbour's) that was chasing her (in fun), as it was right there beside her. I'm not proud of this, but there was a brief moment where I was so angry, and wished that it had happened to the other cat instead. That's pretty horrible, as it is someone's pet as well, and they would have been devastated just as much as the neighbours that it happened to.
So, in this instance, the driver had stopped and checked to see if the cat was okay. I had told him that she didn't suffer as death was pretty much instantaneous (thank goodness). I'm glad that he at least did that much. Not every driver would!

Sorry to read about that.
One thing to remember though:
If you're a driver you have to learn not to swerve if an animal runs out on the street. You're so focused on what's ahead you may swerve into a ditch and hurt yourself or your passengers or even run somebody over. It sucks, yeah.
Anyway, virtual hug sent, may be laggy however ;)

Thank you for the hug.:)
Oh, I agree that they should still be careful when an animal runs out in front of them and not overcompensate and cause a worse tragedy, but far too often I see idiots thinking that just because this is a side street they can go whatever speed they feel like. That wasn't the case here, I don't think. I didn't hear the sound an engine makes when it is accelerating or going at a fast speed.

Thank you for the pictures.:)
I bought my mom a card for Mother's Day today that had a cat on the front cover. I was hesitant to do so since she had been at my house when it had happened. However, she had seen the cat earlier today and commented on the beautiful colour her eyes were (and they were amazingly beautiful!). I had walked into the store to look for a card, and all I could see on the card were the beautiful colour of the cat's eyes. I wrote a message in the card for my mom (I am working Mother's Day, so I gave her the card and gifts today) about the card.
The reason I said all that is the cat in the first picture has beautifully coloured eyes as well.:)

She was happy, and I am thankful that she was living in a loving home.:)

That's really really tough, I'm so sorry to hear that. That was a really kind thing of you to consider her family like that.
When I was a kid my dog was run over by a car a few blocks away from home, she had gotten loose and I was trying to catch her. I ran out into traffic (without thinking) to get at her after it was already too late... While cars had been driving over/past her... and going around me... Some lady finally stopped and got out and helped give us both a ride back to my house. I have no idea who she was but I'm very thankful for her selfless act, even though at that moment I was too lost in grief to even acknowledge her.
So, on behalf of Audrey's family, I'll thank you for your kindness. And have an e-hug 😿

Thank you, Paul. I appreciate that.:)
And thank you for sharing your story on your loss, even though I am sure it is still hard to think on even these many years later. {{{hugs}}}
And I raise a glass to that woman, as she potentially saved your life that day, and was able to help you and your beloved dog get home.
I have a similar story for Cuddles (my sister named her, as she was my sister's dog). At least 10 years ago, some jerkwad kicked a hole in the bottom of the fence in the backyard at my parent's house. Somehow, Cuddles ended up on the other side of one of the busiest streets in our city, and it was during one of the busiest times of day as well!!! Amazingly, she had not gotten hit during her journey to that location. A woman had seen her running on that side of the street (off of the road, thankfully), back and forth, back and forth. It was probably only a matter of time before Cuddles tried to make her way back to the other side of the street, and I guarantee that it would not have had a happy ending! This woman had stopped her car in a adjacent parking lot, and got Cuddles to get in (probably a pretty easy feat as Cuddles was more than likely terrified at being where she was). The woman was able to determine the address of her home due to the tags she wore, and she brought her home.
Whoever kicked that hole in the fence is lucky that I never found out who they were, as I would have probably beat the living crap out of them. They knew what they were doing, and there was definitely malice in their actions.

Lost one of our cats a little while ago, with another one's health failing, I'm really sorry to hear this animal you clearly cared about died. Your gesture and actions were very kindhearted, especially towards your neighbor's kids.

My condolences on the loss of your cat. I do hope your other cat will be okay!
I appreciate you saying that. It makes me feel better knowing I did the right thing.:)

If anyone wanted to give out some hugs, I sure could use some right now.
The neighbour's cat (her name was Audrey) was hit by a car a couple of hours ago, and was killed. It feels like I've been punched in the stomach, as I really liked her even though she wasn't even mine! She was a super-friendly cat, and she even walked into my house once! I was talking with a friend that was on my front porch, and had my front door open a bit (it was around New Year's). My friend asked when I had gotten a cat, and I replied that I didn't know what he was talking about! I looked behind me, and sure enough she was strolling around my living room! I picked her up gently, and brought her back outside (she was both an indoors and outdoors cat).
I did the best I could with her remains, and washed the street as well. I didn't want their kids to see their pet like that.
I'm thinking back to Audrey grooming herself beside my Butterfly Bush about a 1/2 hour before it happened, and trying my best not to cry. Damn it! I loved that cat. :(
Rest In Peace, Audrey. I'll miss you, and the happiness you brought me when I saw you.:(
