I don't get it. Why would someone not like you?

Sometimes a break away from things that are starting to make you unhappy is an important step to getting back on track and in a better mindset. Hope things become less overwhelming, take care of yourself.

You should not stay if you're feeling unwelcome or unappreciated, I agree... But it sucks that some people made you feel that way. Because it's just some random few people, your generosity and your attitude make you an extremely valuable member of the community for most of us.

i don't disagree, SG is trying to make users exclusive to the website, any mention of any other group gets your thread deleted or links removed. They did the same to Blaeo, which isnt even a GA group :D
As for the users, i see very little reason to try and be appreciated by everyone.
Especially since being friends with certain groups, means getting involved on their petty bullshit and squabbles
Nothing good comes from being everyone's friend, tis hard to be agreeable on every interaction they make with the site.

It happens, despite this being quite a nice community it can get absorving and exhausting, most users that engage on the forums have taken breaks at least once and some found out that they were happier staying away.

I left a few years ago, and I'm still not back, but I lurk in the shadows though.
Some people leave and never come back, others just take a step back. :)

Why not just ignore those people?

Sometimes a break is best. Life is constantly changing, and we must constantly adapt to it. Sometimes, that means changing one or more of our routines. If and when you feel like returning at a later date, the vast majority of us will welcome you back. For now, know that you remain on my whitelist, and take these reminders as a parting gift.

Unfortunately, like any large community, a few bad apples are unavoidable. Sorry that some individuals made you feel unwelcome, and hope that a break will do you good. You will always be very welcome back if you decide to do so. Thank you for so many excellent giveaways!

I don't know you, so I don't know why someone would like you or dislike you, but I don't think that it is right to say that you feel unwelcome just because a couple of people don't like you... what happens with the ones who really like you? What happens if 0.01% of the people here dislike you, 99% like you and the rest don't know who you are? Are you ignoring the 99% just because the 0.01%? Anyways, it is your decisiion, and if that makes you feel comfortable, then do it. Maybe you love to make people happy (I am happy with GA's), but you must think in yourself first, so... take care... unknown one. And have a happy life :).

Oh, btw, I already own that game... It's awesome... Great GA, even if I can't join (I would have loved to win that, so I bet you are making someone happy with this one).

Breaks are good. I've taken several myself.

Unsolicited advice: The most important thing you should be focused on is taking care of yourself, first and foremost, and then taking care of family/friends. This website isn't going anywhere, and we'll welcome you back if/when you decide to return.

As far as the negativity you've encountered, in my experience it's the ones being negative that usually have unresolved issues of their own they are dealing with, and expressing anger could be a symptom of that. Don't let their issues and negativity affect your life. Wishing you all the best and good luck!

I don't think we ever had the chance to cross paths but you seem really nice. The way you have described that you try to be and treat others is admirable. We never really know what someone else might be going through and how our kindness or rudeness might have a significant effect in easing or weighing down their burden or experience. I hope you enjoy your time whether that be away from steamgifts or if you decide to return.

Sorry to hear you say that you feel unwelcome. You've always been kind and positive, as far as I can remember, so I don't know why anyone would be rude to you - but you can run into jerks anywhere and it's often best just to ignore them. Some people forget, when they're typing away at a computer, that there's a person with feelings reading the words on the other side.

Anyway, take a break, clear your head, and put this incident behind you. And if you decide to come back to SG, which I hope you do, you'll find myself and many others happy to welcome you back. :)

Sad to see this happen. Not sure which people you are referring to, but some really seem to have a toxic mindset and I understand that you feel the need to distance yourself from them. But hey don't forget here are plenty of kind hearted people too, which will miss you badly.
Maybe you'll make up your mind and stay, or return after a while.
Sometimes we can't help being focused more on the negative parts of things, but you should come to realize that it's harmful for us. Putting emphasis on positivity is the way to go, I know it's not always easy but it's essential to keep a healthy mind. ;)
