How was the 2015 Summer Sale?
I suppose I spent enough to say that the Summer sale was clearly a success. Of course, I would've liked to have seen deeper discounts across the board (just like everyone else), but 75% off is still a heck of a discount. We're just a bit spoiled. :)

That minigame was fine, I enjoyed. Other than that - nothing important.
I bought Driver: San Francisco and Uplay screwed me over... got my first refund on that. Then I bought Audiosurf 2 and that's it. Loved the game and it was worth it.
Hope everybody bought something worth your money!

From a small-time trader's point of view I have to say last year's SS was better and more fun. This year's minigame is complete shit, the card drop system sucks. On the bright side, there were some decent deals and I got what I intended - 2x CS:GO and 1x Fallout: New Vegas for future trading. Already looking forward to the holiday sale.

Was not terrible, some very good deals here and there, didn't liked the theme/game at all. It has been the sale were i spent less, only 13 dollars for AoW3 and AoE 2 HD. I was going to buy Wolfestein The New Order but i am pretty sure the game was not 60 dollar s before the sale so i will wait.
Sales are never going to be as impressive as the first few were you had barely any games.

I intended to spend around 50€. It was a bit more in the end, but mostly because I bought Darkest Dungeon and Battle Brothers at 15€ each. Had most of the classics you see in every sale anyway (who hasn't?). Finally got the Baldur's Gate 2 and Icewind Dale Enhanced Editions at a decent price, too. All in all, I'm happy and already 20h into Icewind Dale. Still a great game. I need a holiday for BG 2, though,,,

Damn it, I'm getting my paycheck tomorrow and the sale's over... I hope to hell that I'll still manage to get Wasteland 2 at the off price.

Well bought like 15 games + dlc's ... and it was my first insert season here sale. Wouldn't have bought many more things since money and common sense. Throwing cash to Gabe was a fun activity.
The monster minigame wasn't all that fun tho ... I think that is the general thing with clicker games because they all function on the skinner box principle. And feel like a pointless waste of time. Also during the first days the game was laggy and somewhat glitchy.
And with all that said I agree that the voting system was better.

Well it was my first sale in the sense that I throw cash into my steam account and hope to buy things that have gotten my attention.
I've surely been around during the previous sales since I've been on steam for 5 years with this account. And seen the previous sale methods. But back then I was a kid who bought games from local markets and was happy for a shitty store sale xD

There were much better sales than 2015 SS. The minigame was fun for the first time. After the first day i only started it, to get the monster cards. Also you are right. The good old community voting would be much better, because then we could decide which games we want to see on sale.
About the prices. Lot of deals were worse than before. For example Terraria -75% instead of -80%, DLC Quest -67% instead of -80%, Garry's Mod only -50% Binding of Isaac (+Wrath of the Lamb) -0% ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! My friend got hyped to buy that game after i told him so much about the game, and he couldn't even buy it on sale. That is just awful. And Disney. Oh dear Disney. After you bought Lucasarts the on your first steam sale only 1 Star Wars game got -50% and only for 12 hours and every other got -25%. Now every Star Wars game got -0%. ZERO! That's it. I was nice to you. But now, i hope you'll get bankrupt. Oh and our loved Rockstar Games which incrised the price of GTA V on the first day of the sale to 75€, so you can buy it on -25% for 55€. Look at the Witcher III. They said yeah, it's a new game, so it's gonna be -10%. That is fair. New game, -10% But raising the price, so you can fool a few gamer with the -20%, is a very bad advertising for your company.
On the other hand, a few games got quite high sale -85/90% like Arma 2, Chivalry, Castle Crushers, Prison architect, Battleblock theater. CS:GO was quite cheap with it's 5,5€ which is reasonable, because when it was 2€ for a day the game was full of hackers for 2 month.
Personally i've planned to spend 10€ (Sleeping Dogs DE, Gunpoint, DLC Quest) But i know one of my friend only wanted to spend 20€, but ended up spending 35€.

I thought the mini game was okay. There have been sales when they haven't added much to the sale, so I'm happy there was an addition of a 'mini-game'. I think it's cool that they've tried different things and people don't know what to expect... (as long as there's 'something' to expect :) As far as the 'sale' goes... It ended with me still having a few dollars in my steam wallet. I bought one thing for myself and a few things to give away here. There were some things I would have bought, but the DLC wasn't reasonably priced and when I purchase a game I like to get it all at once. Many games on 'sale' weren't the lowest Steam Sale price, so... I'll wait. I'm looking forward to seeing some new indie bundles :) It's probably just my impression, but it seemed like the indie bundle sites kept it low key during the steam sale.

What I LIKED:
Fresh idea for community event - Monster Game, not necessarily for what kind of a game it was but for that it was a game and we all like games in the first place, I liked that Steam community got once again together and worked together towards the same goal.
Fresh idea of getting event cards - Surprisingly profitable for both badge crafters and those who wanted to get some little cash to their Steam wallet funds from selling the cards, it was basically a free cash and free $ is always nice, isn't it? ;) Also badge crafters instead of just one card a day for votes would get at least 2 cards a day for playing a game.
Reaching goals unlike community voting unlocked more deals (although admittedly the games and software that were unlocked were not always the ones everyone would like to see and the deals were rather controversial at times - 50% discount which is not exactly too rare discount during seasonal sales to begin with)
What I DISLIKED:
Like always, over hundred of items in my wishlist and yet none of them with an acceptable discount and some of them were never discounted at all, from this it simply occured to me that the sale as a whole was meh and more about adding older things here and there that I wanted to add in the past, not exactly exciting.
Monster Game was a game for masochists who have some sadistic thrill from indulging some kind of self-torture as well as sleep deprivation, not really my cup of tea to be honest. Reaching 100M badge goal was a pain in the non-censored, sweating rear end, quite literally, I kept telling myself to hell with this fucking frustrating game, why am I still doing this? What am I doing with my life?! I will go to bed tonight no matter what, after sleepless nights and I always somehow ended up watching the damn game screen as well as switching between Steam group and twitch chat and constantly messing with scripts and extensions updates which alone felt horribly trolling rather than really helping, but hey I found a solid room and we made it to 100M in the end, yay!
The Monster Game was fucking frustrating, did I mention that?! In fact, it was so frustrating to play, I totally forgot if I disliked anything else, will add later if / when I remember of something else.
Despite frustration from the Monster Game, it was admittedly an addictive game (or do I suffer from Stockholm syndrome? help, I can't quit now D:)
All in all, I had mixed feelings about the sale / event, something I could perhaps describe like this:

I generally gets 1 or 2 card drops every other day, only the first day I got 4 so I'm sure I'm missing a lot of them reading that some got more of them per day and I worked the same as everybody else to get the maximum number of card drops but no luck for me

I bought 2 craps that i refunded 5 gems(best 2 are Beat hazard and AOE2) and 2 medium games so i think it was good one aside from that in my region it was pretty cold all the time expect for 2 days in a hell. Waiting for winter sale(and maybe finally some snow on holidays not on spring...)
Edit:
Forgot moster game IMO was only a way to increase level or gain some money and unique items so pretty shitty

It was good for the deals. For the people who want a summer theme? Its like valve just said gtfo just have a rlly gooddeal instead. Which is fine with me.

Good, as always, but people will always complain about something stupid, like how that was the worst sales ever because the game they wanted was not on sale, or didn't have enough discount, and so on. I guess the new refund policy will get rid of those retards making stupid threads trying to get a refund because they "paid full price on a game the day before the sale start". I tried the minigame once, it was pretty stupid and boring, just like all those idle games like Adventure Capitalist.

I bought some games (a bit more 30 euro), but those were usually indie or old games. The best deals were Hotline Miami and Chivalry.
EDIT: I forgot about season pass to Talisman: Digital Edition. 15 euro ;_;
Steam - stealing your money with sales since insert date here
Also, the monster game sucked, not only it wasn't working on my potato PC (1 core 1,82 GHz; in 3 days parts for my normal PC will arrive), but on my brothers PC it wasn't working as good as it was regulary down.

With little more than 24 hours to go the 2015 Summer Sale draws to a close. What are your thoughts on this years SS? Did you buy a lot of games? Are Valve's sales getting worse? Was the monster minigame fun?
Personally I only bought a few games but they're real gems, however I feel like this sale was rather weak compared to previous years, Valve seems to be putting less effort every year. The monster minigame was interesting but unreliable, I prefer the good old community voting.
Share your thoughts. (Sorry, no potato in the pool)
