What kind of RPG games do you prefer
Chances are, you played many of these, but anyway, here is a list of my single-player favs (mostly older games):
P.S.: Edited because Golwar showed the wrongs of my ways.

You mean it should be Final Fantasy VI-I and FInal Fantasy VI-II? :D
But you know what, I (nearly) agree! I forgot FFVI because I did not play it on the PC, but it is available, so... hold on.... hold on.... ok, edited! :D
By the way, there are other RPGs that would make my list if I were not restricting myself to PC: Ocarina of Time, The World Ends with You, The Phantom Hourglass.
Cheers!

I've played them all but Tales of Berseria (and I will)
But I think no one before talked about KOTOR , and both games are awesome. I really hope the remaster will be released one day!

Berseria and Zestiria are in the same universe. I see in the thread that many people enjoyed Berseria a lot more -- and so did I.
But here is the catch: while it is NOT necessary to play one of them to understand the other, I thought playing Zestiria added a lot of interesting subtext to Berseria... So Zestiria makes Berseria better, if that makes sense. And, myself, I enjoyed both.

Oh, that's good to know Thanks for the feedback.
If I manage to love Berseria, I may be more motivated to play Zestiria to seek links afterwards. I don't think I would be able to play Zestiria first , at the moment, though!

Bless this post, I've been looking to devour games exactly like this.
Though if anyone has beginner/not good at video game recommendations for me I'd love them. :) I loved BG3 but the combat made me die inside since I play TTRPG and DMs really do make that combat system much more... enjoyable.

If you come from the pen&paper world, let me suggest you one:
It's actually very close to the atmosphere of a pen&paper role-playing game.
It's short, it has interesting combat mechanisms (like verticality) and it's fun.
Edit: there is also this:
Knights of pen&paper A very fun game that may bring you back memories from your game sessions (it clearly did for me)

Since we are talking about RPGs here: guys, what JRPG would you recommend to a person who loves CRPGs, thinks that she hates JRPGs, but has never actually played any of them for more than 15 minutes? What game would be a good place to give this genre a chance? Ideally, it should be something relatively modern (maybe even with pixel graphics, but modern, say, 10 years old max), turn-based, story-rich and without over-the-top weirdness. Oh, and also not too expensive.

It's a complicated question cause both genres are very different. I personnally really liked Grandia 2 but this is probably because i discovered it at a time where games were scarse. It was remastered in 2015 (so technically it fits your criteria) and story wise, it's very pleasing.
I'd add that in most JRPGs, you cannot avoid random encounters. Here you can, and this is a huge QOL improvement for CRPG lovers.
There are probably more recent JRPGS that are better fitted, but will let others advise you on that, as this is not really my range of expertise :)

Thank you, I'll give it a go, it looks like a fine compromise to get acquainted with some classics.

A challenging combo. I think Persona 4 Golden would be a suitable candidate. It is turn-based, looks good enough, great story and it's a bargain. It could be too weird for you though.

As you didn't get further recommendations let me add some alternatives:
Yakuza: Like a Dragon - it's great and you can get it from this month's Choice. So it's a pretty obvious candidate.
And two Western Indies cherishing the glory of traditional JRPGs.
Chained Echoes
Sea of Stars
They could be perfect to get into the genre.

And you can get it from my op, if you're european :)

Thank you, I'm not sure about Yakuza, but the other three look like something I might enjoy indeed.

Could try Tactics Ogre: Reborn if you like tactical battles. Story is relatively grounded, has choices that matter, and there's a decent amount of customization. The main thing it lacks compared to typical RPGs is free roaming - instead you choose where to go on a world map and the meat of the game is battles and cutscene scenarios.

What about the games in The Dark Eye universe? It's a sort of German Dungeons&Dragons.
On Steam, you can find Drakensang, Drakensang: The River of Time and its expansion Drakensang: Phileasson's Secret. Old but decent games, and quite long.
You also have (and own) tactical games, the two Blackguards, but I read that you aren't fond of that genre, and I see that you started and quit the first one.
A few P&C and other genres are on Steam too, you can easily find a full list.

I played Dark eye games , and I like them (on pc, or the pen&paper game). I even played Drakensang on physical support . I don't remember if I had the expansion at this time, But I have good memories of Drakensang itself.
What I like in a game is the story, and very often in tactical games, I find the story a bit underwhelming (not always the case though, and I know there are awesome tactical)
I indeed think Blackguards bored me (but that was 10 years ago, so I don't remember quite well) . But i will at least play Blackguards 2 one day, as it's in my (evergrowing) backlog!

Just for those who missed them, there are 3 gas to find in my original post. 1 is region locked for europe, and all need to be level 3

I'm not someone who posts that quickly but considering this post and the games you've played (and have been offered) I think that maybe we're in the same age range and therefore had to intervene with some suggestions =)
Please note that I tried to exclude pixelbased games and considering my game history (and the channel I'm working on now) there may be a lot of Indie games in this list. Also, all games are from my inventory (I didn't of course list the whole RPG genre, just the ones which I tought would be fitting enough for the list:p) which also means that there are of course dozens of games still lying around just to be discovered =)
The list is in alphabetical order not considering any reviews and a specific genre except of RPG because each to their own!
I hope there will be at least some which would catch your attention =))
I've taken the liberty to provide links for the list to eas your (and anyone else's) pain going through it =)

Boy that was a long list! And I still have another one to process .
I'd say that indeed we may have the same kind of age, because I played or wanted many games you have listed!
I found some things that I did not play and look interesting.
So I whishlisted the following:
Ascend_Reborn
Asunder
Blades of Time
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
Dragonpath
FloraMancer Seeds and Spells
Realms of Arkania Blade of Destiny
The Specter Chronicles
Ziggurat
So thank you very much for your work, it has not been in vain ! :D
I would also like to comment on these 2 games
Brutal Legend : epic story. One game that I still play from time to time. I love nearly everything in it.
Venetica Gold_Edition (an old gem if you ask me!) And indeed, an old gem that I discovered only 10 years ago and that I had a real pleasure to play!

In a world filled with yawning chasms and towering buildings, there exists a hidden 7th sense, a Illuminating force that guides the lost, and a Flame that burns eternal in the hearts of adventurers.
So, as the title says, i need to find a new rpg to play , as this is my favorite genre.
I've tried a lot these days , but most were not really satisfying apart from Sovereign Syndicate, which is nice, I'll have to try it again one of these days..
I've had my eyes on the following
Any other advice? I love story more than gameplay (but a good gameplay is nice too), and I'm fond more of medieval environments than modern ones (some exceptions with Arcanum and VTM Bloodlines).
I've received so much advice that I think I should be good for months now. Between my backlog and new candidates, my quest for RPG has gone further.
Let me show my gratitude by throwing a little something (for european fellows only sorry, but I'll find something else for others.)
