What are some games that you regretted buying? Mine would have to de Dishonored

  • DLC Quest - I thought it was going to be funny, lighthearted poking of constant DLC. It felt like it was trying too hard to be funny and came up short.
  • Redshirt - Why I thought I'd enjoy this, I don't know. It's a social sim in the vein of Facebook. I barely touch Facebook itself. A good game if you're into social sims but...
  • Hacker Evolution (w/ Untold and Duality) - The hacking system is incredibly frustrating. Uplink was smoother (and not without its own faults) and there's several freeware hacking games (like Hacknet and DarkSigns) that are more GUI friendly or are pure text-based.
  • Universe Sandbox - Space sim had potential to be interesting but ultimately its a glorified webtoy.
  • Knights of Pen and Paper +1 - A sim of a different color. It feels like a shoddy port and is not suitable for the PC due to sheer repetition.
  • Wanderlust: Rebirth - I just can't play it. Too frustrating, too clunky... Maybe the sequel is better, maybe not.
  • The entire Sam & Max bundle - 1) It clogs up space in my library with each and every episode listed. 2) Its not as enjoyable as the original Sam & Max was.
  • 1...2...3...KICK IT!, AaAaAA!!!, AaaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!!, BIT.TRIP BEAT and BIT.TRIP RUNNER. - I have no fun playing these. At all.
  • The Valve Bundle - Sure I got a lot of games for the price of one or two when it was on sale, but I barely play half of the games. I wonder whether it was worth it.

No, those were two of the games I got and enjoyed. But I already bought Portal 1 and I had the complete Half Life 1 pack from using an old Half Life CD key.

X:Reunion in recent times. I preordered based on my extremely positive experiences with every single previous game in the series.

Eggsoft really should have been upfront and told us that Reunion would be NOTHING like them. Also bugged beyond playable at release.

Audiosurf 2.. I played it long ago and uninstalled it directly a few minutes i tried it.. i mean i know it is under development but the UI definitely sucked as a starter..

I really enjoyed the first one and been running it on auto-pilot to play songs

The Total War series. All of them. I keep thinking "these games should be for me", so I keep buying them, and I keep not enjoying them. They are just so repetitive, and the AI shudders The AI is terrible. Had they fixed the AI, and given the battles a bit more variety, I think I would love the games. But as it stands, I just don't like them, and yet I've bought all of them (except for Rome 2).

Yeah I got it not too long ago and loved it. I played 40+ hours in 2 weeks and now it started to get boring so I'm taking a nice break from it so it doesn't lose all its fun. Personally I think it's a great game but there aren't enough heists to keep it from getting repetitive.

Humanity Asset and Starseed Pilgrim was the greatest disappointment. They were all from bundles, so no monetary loss, but they couldn't live up to my minimal expectations. Humanity Asset in fact is maybe the worst game I've ever played.

I'm gonna be honest and say that I really regret buying Skyrim: LE. I'm serious. The atmosphere didn't hit me even once, and the whole games (for me) was kinda boring. Also bugged as eff. I think that The Witcher 2 is waaaaaayyyyy better than TES V (even w/out open world, etc).

Sad thing to hear - I really enjoyed Skryim, although I wasn't really into Oblivion. I recently played Morrowind, it was really intresting. It seems every TES game can differ greatly. I hope next time you'll have more luck with a similarly expensive game as Skryim :)

Personally Oblivion is my favorite. I just got it yesterday! I've had it since it came out on xbox but I managed to somehow give it away to someone. I'm so glad to own it again!

Oblivion starts out quite nice, but it's far more repetitive than Skyrim or Morrowind, and the setting feels a lot more generic. Also, the main quest is terrible, at least if viewed as a main quest in a game where the relatively non-linearity of the game is one of the main draws (It's always "GO THERE NOW OR EVERYONE WILL DIE! HURRY!"). In both Morrowind & Skyrim you had logical points where you would go and do other things, where the story & characters expected you to do some side-questing (Daggerfall is so different that I won't even compare it to the later TES games). Also, both Morrowind & Skyrim spent more time on world building than Oblivion.

Homefront (poor gameplay, worse ai)
Darksiders (it may be a very good game, but I just couldn't get into it)
Medal of Honor (overhyped at the time and I think they included beta access to one of the battlefield games)
Vampire: The Masquerade (couldn't get it to run smoothly)

vampire the masquerade has a fan made patch that fixes most issues (at least fixed it for me) and adds content.

+1. I liked BL1 so much I pre-ordered the Ultimate Loot Chest when it was just a rumor and had no idea of what it contained. 180$ I'm not gonna see ever again.

Yeah I'd heard so much about it and got it on sale. Personally, close to my biggest waste of $5.

I'm going to take a ton of crap for this, but Deus Ex: GOTY has aged absolutely terribly and if you're just picking it up now it's going to feel horrifically dated and simply sub-par in almost any meaningful way.

I realize it's one of those Sacred Cows if you played it from when it was new. But only coming to it many years later? Sorry, it's not for me.

Definitively Skyrim, it's just not my type of game, people just seem to love it so I decided to give the game a try, I just don't like that feeling of mindlessly walking for miles and miles upon end to find places, the main story is boring as hell, the side quests and going to caves and beating baddies was quite fun though and I enjoyed it a lot. The other thing is that it's as simple as it is not a true RPG game, its more or less a dungeon crawler with small elements of RPG injected into it. I would've been really mad if I bought it at full price, lucky me I only bought it for $7.50

Legendary was also another game that I regretted buying, the game looks really nice on paper, and when you watch gameplay it really looks like a nice game, it had mixed reviews so I decided to take a chance for the game. Pretty much it extremely closed world game, you HAVE to go down a very specific path. The game has invisible walls, and sometimes you have to wait a while before some events happen, oh well I only spent around a $1 for the game, but still the game was like piss in a bucket.

It's not that I regret buying games as much as I regret not adding them to my backlog or inventory instead of waiting for lower prices. Probably the most regrettable is the Double Fine Bundle I paid $7.50 for and gifted after it was in a Humble bundle for $1.

Still not that big a deal really, but I have quite a few games I didn't play or hardly played which later became much cheaper.
