Diablo III.
No guys, I'm not trolling. I find its a great game.

The Walking Dead
Sam & Max
*Deponia (even though I have only played the demo)

It's not called "point and click", it's "adventure game", point and click genre doesn't exist.
I will list games that I consider bad: Edna and Harvey (flaky game, needs a ton more QA), Deponia (graphics are really nice, needs some work on gameplay itself), most of the Sherlock Holmes games except Scalpel and Awakened, Runaway games are nice but too much pixel hunting, Hector games are really fun but might be too british for everyone's taste, all Broken Sword games except I and II are SHIT, and Blackwell series is good, but games are too short and too light-hearted. King's Quest games are... too lighthearted too. LSL are weird and bad. Syberia, too much walking.
Recommendations: Indiana Jones (all of them), Resonance, Gemini Rue, Primordia, LA Noire (example of why this genre isn't "point and click"), Loom, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island II is awesome, the rest are pretty good except the new series. Police Quest II and IV are pretty good too. Blue Force... Hm, most Sam and Max games. The Walking Dead is OK. Oh, almost forgot about Gabriel Knight! It's truly one of the best games in the genre, go for it now.
I've yet to play a ton of games I bought. Currently playing Memento Mori and it's pretty good.

The problem with Hector is that it really, really is too british. Uses cuss words and slang only used there, so it might not be as fun to play as other games. Besides, it's set on a fictional location, it would have been better if it was set on a UK suburb or something.
And pixel hunting is straight bad design. You could be stuck for hours in a simple puzzle. In these cases, some hint system is mandatory. Why? Because nowadays users will load up google and read a walkthrough, so a hint system makes that pixel hunting less annoying.
The plot isn't that good, either.

Where did he say it was a genre? And who are you to say it isn't a genre? As far as I know there is no authority or universal standard for genres (in video games, anyways), there are no formal definitions.
I'd, at the very least, say point and clicks are a sub-genre in scope.
At any rate it would be wrong in this setting to say adventure games, because although point and click games may be part of the overarching adventure genre, not all adventure games are point and click games. And, based on the OP, he said he wants games with point and click gameplay.

Please read documentation about game design, most genres are already defined. Point and click isn't a genre. It's like saying Rhapsody is "Hollywood Metal" just because they said so.
I agree with the part of "not all adventure games are point and click", that's why I recommended LA Noire. And regarding "games with point and click", he might as well play Diablo 2. In that game you point and click, also.

And you completely ignored the most important thing, he never said it was a genre to begin with. Also, everyone in this thread, yourself included, knew exactly what he meant when he said point and click. You know L.A. Noire isn't what he meant, and you know Diablo 2 isn't what he meant (as you made clear in the context of which you presented them), which is why I don't understand why you recommended L.A. Noire since it's not what he meant when he was asking for suggestions. So maybe it isn't a full genre, but it's still some sort of classification which everyone here was able to identify with.

It’s not Rockstar’s strongest hour, but it is perhaps their most ambitious – and thus is one to check out, especially for the faces, dialogue and the rare chance to see a multi-million dollar budget spent on an adventure game, of all things.
Alec Meer, Rock Paper Shotgun, about LA Noire.
Whilst I agree that you can't define ALL the games (for example, I don't consider The Walking Dead a true adventure game since it's SO SO SO SO SO easy, I don't even "consider" it a game, though that's me), I think a proper clarification were in order, to let people learn more about a genre I love.
It's like saying that Call of Duty is a RTS. People that love FPS would be, at least, slightly offended.

I really feel like you are trying to troll me now. I NEVER EVER EVER EVER said L.A.Noire is NOT an adventure game, the only person talking about the adventure genre at large is you, in this entire thread. We're talking about games that feature point-and-click mechanics in them. Point-and-click games may be a subset of adventure games, and L.A. Noire may be an adventure game, and that's all swell but that's outside the scope of what this thread is about. If someone asked for FPS recommendations you wouldn't start recommending them fighting games, would you? I mean, they are both action games, no? By your logic, we would! I mean who cares about minute details such as gameplay, presentation, and style, they are both action games so they must be exactly what the person asking for FPS recommendation wants.
We're not talking about fruits, we're talking about apples, we don't care about oranges, bananas, cherries, etc. They may be fruit, but they aren't apples. We just want to talk about apples.
I'm starting to feel like this discussion is getting us nowhere.

What's the difference between this and DosBox? That's an honest question, I remember using Scumm years ago for first Monkey Island...
Edit: Nvm, I googled it :p Apparently ScummVM provides you with a better performance of a game, while on DosBox you can run almost any DOS game.

ScummVM is extremely dedicated to emulate the engines in which those games are made, trying to get them bug free. That's why the performance is better.
Dosbox is a MSDOS emulator, you can run a word processor or whatever (hence the lesser performance, since you have to emulate software on top an OS).

I enjoy playing "point-and-click" adventure* games.
One I like a lot is Edna and Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes.
What are some of your favorite/recommended point-and-click games?
