I built my rig over a year ago. Added some memory and another ssd. It's all budget but it does the job. Overclocking the video card. Thinking about overhauling this one after the holidays.

I used to build my own from scratch, but my favorite OEM store here in SoCal disappeared, so... now I pay other people to put it together for me when I decide what components I want.

My specs are in here, its pretty good at playing the newest games at medium or high, I'm not computer expert though, and I have no interest in overclocking.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Zayzon/saved/#view=tLrQzy

Note: the cpu cooler is not the stock one, and I'm not sure what it is, and i bought half of the parts from ebay.

Grats on your 1st build, I've been wanting to build one on my own however, I decided to get a custom PC instead recently. Till I have spare cash for any spare parts in future, then I shall try a build out. :D Pretty decent entry build imo. Mind editing the cost in your local price in? Thank you ^_^

Despite the three year old necro (though to be fair, if you'd posted a thread about it, someone else would have linked you this one LOL), that's actually a very solid and well-balanced build.

If I had to nitpick -- you might have gotten a bit larger SSD for loading up with a few games, but to each his own.

I agree to both statements and yeah probably a 250 at least. Its still not a bad build for some decent gaming with a little more patience for loading I guess. :)

May I ask why you still own a DVD drive in 2019?

i do too, it would help if some companies would give us the option to legally download games. But even EA does not support most of its classic titles.

Some people are movies collectors for example. I've an old CD of Black Hawk Down from yrs back, its still a movie I'll check back from time to time. Although nowadays you can copy the files to drives, you'll still need to read them on the DVD drive itself. Cheers~ :D

I have an external one myself, just incase.. and an internal in my fileserver.. I had BDROM drive but I guess I threw it out with the last comp without noticing, which shows how often it got used lol.

Still, always nice to have at least one comp with an optical drive. Better to have one and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Usually an external one for the very few times (atleast I) would use one. I managed to remove my 5,25 and 3,5 inch bays in my Define R5 creating extra airflow this way.

That said I have a 30TB Fileserver ( More pictures! though not fully current - https://imgur.com/a/Q46y6 ) so local storage isn't isn't something I desperately need. Already install my games to the SSD's.

I'd be shocked if several didn't. I know 3 other winners just from a few smallish IRC channels. That said it's the best thing I've ever won lol. Great CPU, meme factor aside it was a great upgrade from my i7-2600 .. not that that NEEDED upgrading, CPU was never my bottleneck.. old system not having SATA3, M2, or USB3 was an issue though..

This baby is from 2011 with some upgrades later:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 @3.1GHz (LC-CC-120 replaced the box cooler in...2016 I think)
PCB: MSI H61M-P23(B3)
RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x 8Gb DDR3 1600MHz (was 2x4gb 1333 until 2013, then went all the way up... sad, I know)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX950.OC 2 GB GDDR5 (back in 2011 this was... 9600gso... then gtx560se in 2013 I believe... then what you see now since 2 years ago)
HDD: SanDisk 240GB SSD Plus (added a year ago) + Samsung Spinpoint F3 1Tb + WD 10EZEX 1Tb (added 3 years ago, dying slowly)
PSU: Seasonic S12-II-620 Bronze
MON: I2280SWD IPS Full HD 21.5" x2 (very recent, it used to be 1x 1366x768 LG, before that back in 2011 it was 1680x1050 acer)
AUD: MS Shark Pro Black + AltecLansing ATP3 (bought in 2005)
HID: CM Storm Quickfire TK Blue + MS Imperator2 (my trusty logitech rx300 died after 15 years, sadly)
GPD: Logitech F310 (had to get a gamepad back when I was testing goblin because it was so weird having someone else test and report all the time I change something... before that I only had some no-name ps2 clone gamepad with d-input)

I like it. It has a nice shape, all the buttons/triggers are in the correct place I'd expect them to be (compared to, let's say, xbox gp series layout) and supports both x-input and d-input... had no issues with it in the last 2 years, and I played several games using it. Mind you, I'm not a gamepad person, but I like using this one so far.

Got most of my components nearly 7 years ago :O
And even though my GPU is quite new, I'm gonna need to buy a completely new rig in about a year.
(my laptop is also soon 6 years old but it's in a great condition and I don't use it that much except for university stuff so it's still fine)

Current build:

CPU: Intel i7 3770k
Cooler: beQuiet Dark Rock or something...not sure
RAM: 16GB DDR3 @1600MHz I think
GPU: Powercolor RX580 8GB
Monitor: 27" LG 4k IPS, 24" BenQ 1080p TN.
Storage: Some 3TB HDD + 256GB SSD Samsung 840
also 5.1 speakers and a condenser mic (both needed for filmschool, which is the reason my PC is in need of "renewal"...editing 4.6k video footage sucks so hard, especially when I do compositing work in After Effects)
