These topics are always a great opportunity to go down the rabbit hole of the internet.

And talking about that, it appears that one of Napoleon's few defeats was to a horde of bunnies:

Did you know that sloths can hold longer their breath underwater than dolphins? Dolphins can usually manage 10 minutes, but sloths can do 20 minutes, in some cases 40 minutes even. They can do this by slowing their heart rate.

There are tours through the Pentagon and to do them the tour guide has to walk 3 miles backwards as that's the length of the only allowed official track for the tour and the tour guide is required to watch the group at all times

Fun fact:
The average death expectancy of the olden times is always assumed to be pretty low, like in your 30's. That's not because people didn't get very old back in the day, but infant mortality was a big problem. So, that's why the average is so low.

You know I'm the kind of person that always has a goofy fact to share no matter the topic, so when I saw your thread I thought I would easily find something, yet here I am one month later with this bookmark and no idea what to say haha

I just remembered one of my favorites goofy facts, though it is not really an obscure one so you might already know it but oh well!
So yeah Russia's surface area is larger than Pluto's, which I find pretty mindblowing for some reason.

Honey doesn't expire, but when there's too much moisture it starts to ferment. When that happens its even better as it can be used to produce mead. Also, every 60 seconds a minute passes :P

Ketchup was used as medicine in the 1830s
Ketchup was prescribed and sold as medicine to people with diarrhea or indigestion. The idea was first proposed by Dr. John Cook Bennett, an American physician, in 1834, who is said to sell the recipe later in form of 'tomato pills'.

The word orange in English should actually be norange. When the word carried over from the French Narange, English speakers mistakenly thought the 'n' sound carried over from the article una or une and dropped the letter to give us the modern word orange.

Well actually (pushes up nerd glasses) this is one fact I know to be not true, having had need to study the etymology of the word. It is true that the word was originally "norenge" and turned into "orenge" by rebracketing "une norenge" (as the process is called), but it is not true that happened in English -- it happened before the word was borrowed. Hence English never had a word "norange" or suchlike and it was not English speakers that transformed it.

Did you know that despite having different conjugations for past, present, future, etc., time in linguistics is a binary system consisting of only past and present? I learned this in my linguistics class and have not been the same ever since.

You asked Goofy facts, I have one.;)
Believe it or not, but Goofy’s original name in 1932 was Dippy Dawg. This character even had a different look. He was more redneck and backwoods then. He was renamed and redesigned to Goofy, this character more closely resembling the Goofy we know and love today. In the 1950’s, however, he was renamed to George Geef. He resembled an “Everyman” or an everyday man, and this character appeared in shorts where he tried to overcome common everyday problems that people faced during this time. After the “Everyman” era, Goofy finally became the Goofy that everyone knows today.
