Am I being racist towards newborn babies?
I think they start looking cute after a few weeks. Right after birth, I totally agree with you, can't understand as well what would make them cute, or why ppl would think that. But I could imagine if it's when it is your own newborn you are looking at, haven't made that experience yet 😅

It is a basic Human instinct to feel protective of a baby which we often equate to "cute" which often spills over to baby anythings being cute. Some people don't have this feeling until they have one of there own, and some never really connect with the whole baby/protect emotion. It's an instinct to preserve and continue the Human race.

I do find babies very cute, generally. I do not know why but they just are, same reason why I find cats very cute.

I would presume that when the baby is born, parently love makes it look cute as hell..
Other then that - no god damn idea what others find cute in babies..

It's laid genetically. Another young generation will be cast forever and perish. Similarly, with sex, the body receives such a great stress that, if it were not so nice - all would have long been extinct.

Not every baby is cute. Some babies are prettier than others, especially after birth they can look akward. they become cute after a few weeks though.

All new kids look like shit.
Sometime it even is shit.
Unless it's your own or related to you.
Then it's cuteness overload time.

We're hardwired to find babies cute and adorable, thank millions of years of evolution overriding the logical conclusion in our brains so we can put up with all the inconveniences of taking care of a newborn, otherwise our species wouldn't have survived to this day.

When your own child is born, then you will understand. People react to babies because of their connection to children. (Although part of it is inherent in our nature.) Also, being nice to another person's baby is good tact.

They all look/act the same way, after seeing a newly born baby for the first time, there's nothing new or surprising about them the next time you see one unless they were really fat/skinny yet people keep freaking out about newborn babies like this is their first time seeing one even if the baby wasn't theirs
Is it because they are small? and small = cute?
small =/= cute most of the time
Edit: just to clarify, I don't see babies disgusting, but babies are just babies and I don't get what makes them cute for many people
