Well, I want to discover new music in a very specific and at the same time quite broad range. I'm looking for indie rock or dream pop that has a distinctly "summer" sound with wavy melodies; this kind of music can be reminiscent of light shoegaze or summer post-punk, but not necessarily. At the moment, it has become quite difficult for me to find new similar bands and songs, because indie rock is a VERY general concept, and the recommendations of available streaming services are already spinning the same thing in circles. So I hope you can recommend something.

Below I will leave examples of songs similar to what I am looking for. Thanks for your attention, here are a couple of giveaways.

I'm looking for something similar:
Fine China - Not Thrilled
Sunflower Bean - Easier Said
Dog Day - Start It Up
Fanclub - Swear
Fazerdaze - Little Uneasy
Penelope Isles - Chlorine
Spirits of Leo - Where You Stand

Unfortunately I don't have any recommendations for you as that genre of music is not something I listen to. Regardless, thank you for the giveaways and the nice music! Here's a bump ^-^

Might not exactly fit what you're looking for, but one of my personal favorite indie bands is The Midnight. Here's one of their more popular releases, but I love their style and most of their songs. Gives you that 80s synthwave vibes.

Here's one more banger for good measure :)

For some reason I never got into The Midnight, even though I like this type of music. But thanks, I’ll try to delve deeper into them again!

This leans more into the post-metal genre, but Melting Sun has a very summer/melancholic vibe.

Also, thank you for the giveaways ♄

I feel your pain, I know how poor streaming services can be for those who have even slightly different/specific preferences. Though I don't know much about music, so I used your words and what the sound of those songs made me remember to give some guess shots.

As you said, indie rock is a very general concept, includes a wide range of styles, so I tried not to restrict myself to indie bands, but to find something you could like. Thus, the following songs are not exactly recommendations, since I was trying to decipher your preferences instead of showing things I like.

  1. the pillows - Hybrid Rainbow
  2. Plastic Tree - MÄRCHEN
  3. ELLEGARDEN - Mountain Top
  4. G-Schmitt - Cathedral Junky
  5. my dead girlfriend - 12gatsu, poolside, ukabu shitai
  6. Luminous Orange - Silverclothes
  7. Polly - Hanataba
  8. exist†trace - Judea
  9. BUCK-TICK - MY FUNNY VALENTINE
  10. hide with Spread Beaver - ROCKET DIVE
  11. Kuroyume - MISERY

I hadn’t really come across Japanese artists and their music before, so it was interesting to get to know them. I liked many of the songs, I’ll take a closer look at these groups, thank you!

From the same stable, Olivia Tremor Control and Neutral Milk Hotel are nice as well, but a bit less summery perhaps. I got this particular album from Emusic, back when they had a $10/month flat rate, in crunchy 128 kbps quality. Unbelievably given the attractiveness of their current offer, Emusic are still going...

I forgot - this is folk, but very summery as well (with the occasional thunderstorm)

Lana del Rey has some good stuff. Might not be the right genre but you might like Chinese fountain by the Growlers, and dark all day by Gunship
