Is it fair to slam a game like that mere hours after release?
With a $60 price tag every one expect the studio to deliver a complete game, this game should come in early access category and price should be round about $20, it wont be too long before the price will decrease to this level, another prime example is battleborn which i almost bought and it ended up in a bundle just two months after release.

Eh that's less Battleborn being flawed and more Blizzard absolutely stealing their thunder with Overwatch.

Ya Overwatch did that but 2K is still trying to milk borderlands cow. No doubt Borderlands 1/2 were brilliant games and borderlands 2 being my first ever purchase on steam, they should have learned from pre-sequel. Blizzard on the other hand successfully copied the god tier ut2004 with stylized graphics but old gamers will find it a blatant copy paste of Unreal Tournament. In my opinion UT2004 is leagues better than Overwatch.

I wouldn't call Battleborn that, particularly since they didn't resort to having BL characters in it. Blizzard might have been inspire by UT'04 and TF2 but they seemed to have taken notes and had elements people like.

One thing I find amusing is how many of these "reviews" are someones first review. Before this have they never been able to find the time to write a review about a game they liked or have they never found a game they liked?

Why wouldn't it be fair? You pay for it, test it for less than 2 hours and if it sucks during that you review and refund. Works fine for me.
If you bought this game just because of the overhype then know that this game has been developed for a really long time and was promised to be multiplayer game - which it also says on Steam users tag. However, one day before release they changed the developer marked tags from Multi-player to Single-player. That's what I call bullshitting the buyers!
Without multiplayer option there's not much to do in that game, collect stuff, trade it for currency, collect more stuff to get more currency. Get to the center of the universe and that's it. Of course it's an exploration simulator and people tend to forget about it.
I would compare this game to Spore, which was the first of a kind - same technique that is used in No Man's Sky and Spore was made in 2008. In Spore, however, you develop your own species before starting to explore and conquer the space - here, you just explore and rename stuff. Both games are singleplayer, now multiplayer with that procedural generation would be a damn achievement. And without it, just a lame Spore-like game (Spore was a damn success in 2008) with a price tag of AAA-game.
Oh and don't forget that the developers didn't make this game compatible with Intel cards. It's not supported. I mean what the actual ... You make a game for 60€ and not make it available for everyone on PC. And first time trying to play it crashes most of the computers for different reasons. Real good job there! Development 5/7.
Definitely not gonna buy it for 60€. Hell, max I'd pay for it would be between 20 - 25. Gonna wait and see retail shops for cheaper option.

It's fair, since they lied, they hyped it up. They have massive performance issues, they're asking full price. They're lacking content, they've shown false gameplay footage. And the list goes on and on. This is Spore 2. No one has ever asked for it.
They wanted to even cancel due to a fire. They for some reason didn't.

If it's not playable, don't release it. Do some more optimization for a week or so at least. People can wait(they'll hate it, but not as much as your unplayable game).

PC version plays fine for me. Ever think to check CPU parking?
Comment has been collapsed.
Nope, GTX 1080 SLI and still stutters with all options enabled. If you disable vsync and uncap the FPS then it will start working. But man, why make options available if the game can't run with them. Also no support for Intel cards from developers. Cool beans, I say!

Because the settings anticipate you are stating the game with a minimum spec'd machine... you know, what most people who would be buying the game will probably have.
Also, no Intel graphics support means for on-board graphics. You need an actual card, not one built into your CPU and running off of RAM. (Hint: it's not going to run on your all-purpose laptop.)

It's fair enough. You release something to the public. The public gives their opinion on it. I don't see any problem.

Up to more than 10K negative. Can't be THAT bad. Can it?

Dayum 3k more negs since I last saw yer thread. Games really should be finished before you sell them, you know like they used to all you had to do was buy the game and you got all the content for it but now you're lucky if it's finished. PC ports are tough people have a lot of different set-ups so there is more to do but that's no excuse if you're gonna sell it make sure it works. I really do hope the NMS team can turn this around and fix it for everybody interested.

i think its fair a game to get slammed like this when they charge $60 and dont even have the game tested or fixed before release even after several delays, most people cant even start the game let alone play it,i have a beast of a machine(can see specs in my steam profile) i had to turn off FXAA vsync and uncap the max fps and drop most settings to med for the game to even run a fairly stable 30fps and lets me honest the game graphics are not that great, that said i would not give the game a bad review it is fun to play if you are lucky enough to be able to run it but i would advise against buying it until its fixed.

I've put in 12 hours so far, and had one crash to desktop, and one tune where I lagged so bad I had to restart the game. I still get random frame drops here and there. Sucks to downvote a game cuz you can't run it, but it's definitely warranted. Most people won't change their review vote after the issues are resolved, so it won't necessarily be an accurate score when (if) that happens.

Can't believe so many people pre-ordered a shallow "indie" game for 60€/$

i5-4690K w/ GTX 970, running on 1080p, other settings maxed out. No problems so far.

If you are having performance issues that make the game unplayable then how would one review the content? It sounds like the hate is deserved. People are getting tired of spending their hard earned money on crap games. I don't blame them for the negative reviews as long as they're valid.

Edit: Holy crap, over 16,000 negative reviews now.

The game got 2,000+ negative reviews mostly dealing with crashes and performance problems.
I don't remember seeing so much hate since Batman and Just Cause 3.
But for some reason for no man's sky I feel bad because its a small team and seems like they've been through alot of legal hell and general other development roadbumps before release.
It makes me a little sad seeing so much hate for performance issues, those can (hopefully) be fixed rather quickly.
Like, come on angry mob, give the little space guy a chance D:
Do you think its fair slamming a game into the ground not even an hour after release for performance issues rather than game content?
