Vanilla is a great complex flavor when done well. And I love the hot and cold combination, too! Hot fudge, pie, cobbler, it all goes great with a scoop.

Woo! Came back for a second look and realised all the answers I tried before were totally ignoring the clue! Really nice puzzle, thanks a lot :)

Well I'm sorry to say I'm still stumped. The hint didn't really help me because I had that part already. Just haven't managed to figure out what to do with what I have or how the numbers figure into it. Not giving up though. Not for the GAs, just cause I need to keep the noodle baking.

The second part of the hint wasn't helpful? Does it help to emphasize that the numbers are weights and the scale has two sides?
Just trying to get an idea of what I might not have hinted strongly enough. I have a tendency to make my puzzles a bit too hard, it would seem, and I'd like to learn from this.

It did but I already got there on my own. I just can't figure out how to use that. And it's not you since obviously some people managed to solve it. I just can't seem to get the right angle. Or maybe I'm overthinking it and missing the obvious. I tend to overthink puzzles.

I've added an alternate way to the train, with a little math instead of words. Maybe that's more approachable?

Happy Cake Day! As for the puzzle, I certainly have the pairings wrong because I cannot make sense of a solution based on the scale afterwards. Will be interrested by the solution though :)

Looks like my maths skills are still better than my English ones :) Would be interrested to see the solution of the main puzzle though.

Hmm. I think I've got the pairings, and I thought I figured out a way of writing things out that also make it so that order stopped mattering, but still haven't gotten the answer and not sure where I might be going wrong.
Actually I have no clue if order matters in any way. I think I get the scale though, just unsure how it should be looked at in terms of a starting point.
Anyways, happy cake day.

Order matters. Go in the order from the left column. Good luck!

Definitely helpful, but seems like what I thought was the solution, isn't. Tried 2 similar ways of reading the scale, but didn't work. Also tried exchanging the less obvious pairs but no luck.
I'm excited to see the solution if I still don't get it. Wondering how close I was.

Tomorrow is my first active cakeday. (But I anticipate a busy day tomorrow. So, I'm doing the post today.) Tomorrow, two years ago, I discovered the site and made an account, but after seeing a lot of rough with very few diamonds (and very low odds of winning), I left and forgot about it. Over a year later, I saw it mentioned again, and came to give away some old Steam inventory items and Humble Bundle keys I wasn't interested in. I learned to hide games I don't want, and to use the wishlist feature, and I actually saw games I wanted! So, I stuck around, but the exact cakeday isn't at all special to me.
Also, cake is great. No lies. But I enjoy ice cream more. So much so that I have "invested" in a nice (consumer) ice cream maker, and I make stuff at home for a hobby. I have the Ben and Jerry's and Ciao Bella recipe books. The Ben and Jerry's book has lots of traditional flavors, but I really like the less common flavors from Ciao Bella.
So, instead of cake pictures, please post pictures or recipes of ice cream, gelato, Italian ice/sorbetto, or granitas. Less common flavors are preferred, as long as you can recommend them or would try them yourself. Give me ideas for new flavors and flavor pairings. That's the good stuff.
I'll start off with an ice cream cake, and a couple of my favorite flavors.
Edit:
New puzzle added to get to the reward train. Numbers instead of words, so it should be easier for non-native English speakers. Same rewards, solving either puzzle is sufficient. You have until 1500 GMT (if I did the time conversion correctly) on the 7th, plus two more days for the DLCs in there.
Solutions
Images are added to the post.
Pairings: For me (in the US), all of the pairings appeared in Google's 10 suggestions when I typed in "item1 and" in the search field. Understandably, this could vary in other regions, and could be challenging for non-native speakers. Once you have the pairings (always one from the left column, and one from the right), place them on the scales. Measure the difference in weight with the tick marks, with the needle tipping away from the heavy side. There are 26 tick marks, so convert the indicated tick to the alphabet.
Odds: I think this is a simpler concept. What are the odds of picking balls of specified colors randomly from the fishbowls? The odds can all be expressed in a fraction of x/26, so convert x to a letter in the alphabet.
