I have always been called "the calmest guy alive" by friends & family, many, many times. But now I'm pissed off! I had to see my doctor after being in a car accident this afternoon... I have whiplash and if I get more complaints, probably a concussion too (I doubt it because I know how it feels from previous ones before)

So what happened: I was driving at a fairly small oneway street with speed limit of 50km/h and there was a car driving before mine. The car steers to the right side without using a turn signal and stops. So now I am stopped 4-5 meters away from the other cars rear. Suddenly I see the reverse light of the car light up and the car drives in reverse, I sound my horn but it's to late. She hits the front of my car. The driver of the other car steps out and comes to my window. I lower it down and she says, "How are we going to handle this because I need to go and don't have time for this sh*t. I tell her that we will fill out insurance papers. She says I have to hurry or she's gone and it will take to long and starts calling me names. For me it turns easy then, I call the cops to help fill the in insurance papers and calm the woman down. I get out of my car and notice my neck is a little stiff but don't make much of it. While we're waiting for the cops, I tell her why she didn't use the turn signal and why she didn't see I was behind her. She says she did use it and calls me names again so I decide to park my car on the side of the road and let traffic thru and wait there till the cops come. The cops arrive and ask what happen, I explain how everything happened and she steps in between me and the cops, starts crying and says that I hit her car from behind... I just couldn't believe what I was hearing!

This results that our stories don't lign up and police has to make a report of it and it will go to court. I don't know how it works in other country's but if you hit a car from behind in Belgium, you're pretty much always responsible for the accident. So I'm afraid if a judge reads our 2 stories, I am going to be f*cked! I'm really pissed off about the fact she just lied like that. We have insurances for that. I asked around if there were any wtnesses but nobody saw something. Its her word vs mine. I feel angry and upset that people can lie like that. And even though I see these things everyday at work, it's really upsetting me now. When I came home 45 minutes afterwards, my nose started bleeding, my neck was more stiff so that's when I decided to call my doctor. And now we are here with a painkiller and some warm towl around my neck wondering what went wrong. I've had my license for almost 12 years and this is my first (hopefully last) accident. I always take good care of my cars (not fanaticaly but I clean it every week and wash every month) and it turns out like this. The whole front of my car is damaged so I'm thinking of a 1000euro cost if nothing structural was hit, the other cars rear was damaged also. If it ends up being my fault, she'll get paid by my insurance company, I'll have to pay for my car and my insurance fee every month will go up...

I know this isn't the end of the world and many many people have it far worse than I, but I wanted to write this down somehow... I will not loose faith in the good will of people but it did yet recieve another hit. I'll stay positive but today (and maybe tomorrow still) I'm dissapointed and angry. Luckely I have my kids and wife to cheer me up and off course I like the people on SG too so added some gibs... P.S. Sorry for my drama and the absents of a poll :)

tl;dr: car accident - not my fault - other person lied - court - probably f*cked
the statement is a lie!

I realized that you summed it up in four words after reading all, anyway the solution is simple, piss on her and on the judge to show dominance.

I hope you get well, good luck.

Sorry to hear your story, dude; I hope justice will be on your side! Unfortunately, without eye witnesses, only dashcam vid could make this process easier. :/

That definitely sucks and too bad there weren't any witnesses to help you out with your story.
But you did call the police so that should give you some points that it wasn't your fault.
And it's awful that she didn't took the blame it was clearly her fault and her attitude was really bad. She should have take responsibility of what she did.
Hope everything goes well and you win

my brother have this kind of accident once. it was when he was driving home, the case is the other person crash my brother car then possibly bribe the police to change the plate number of the car in the report to make like its no his fault that my brother car being crashed with his car. and I already forgot what happen after that, so yeah, some people are just born with black heart, while others being dye by it.

TL;DR = stay strong, may luck on your side,

Its going to be your word against hers, and your best options will probably end up with you two paying 50/50. You might be able to take her to court and get more before accepting the 50/50, but I believe it would be too much hassle for an uncertain outcome and not worth the amount of money you get or time spent.

Because of this very scenario, I am considering getting a dash cam. I believe dash cams are required in certain countries like Russia due to the amount of accidents that icy cold country has and the corruption and bs people say and do everywhere in the world.

What kind of dashcam do you use and can I get a link to it. I need to invest in one.

Bump and meow. I've wondered about the scenario before, I guess dashcam is the only answer.

Sorry for sounding stupid or so, but what doe you mean by that? Is it a saying or something? English is not my native language so I'm probably missing something here

double standards - it means that women sometimes have unfair and easy treatment and that it is easier to believe women (especially crying). it is not the rule, but it's noticeable in every-day-life.
and of course, do not think that I am sexist or anti-women xD that's just my observation.

Now I get it. Thanks for answering. It's the same saying in Dutch but I couldn't make the link. Not on my brightest atm, the incident is playing back and forth in my mind

Unfortunately the chances of her winning is high, the peoples responses to stupid crying woman are always to side with even if their wrong --, hopefully you will win though, I had a accident after a mere year of driving, I took a turn, and because of how stacked up the traffic was neither myself or the other driver saw each other in time, causing us to both crash and total our cars, she was very chilled with the situation , so was I, we met up at the police station later to do the paper work and that was it , we never blamed each other because it was a accident, where your case isn't really a accident, just a dumb person who reversed into you --

Also a edit, a few cops drove by, stopped and asked if we were fine then just left ... useless , they can't just take a persons word for it, what If one of us had internal injuries but didn't realise it, they didn't even pat us down to see if we had any injuries or nothing

Oh, that sucks. I hope that she will become afraid of the process, so that she admits it or that you find another agreement.

Not sure if of any help, but if her car undergoes a forensic examination, and if the backup lights' lamps are incandescent and were broken upon impact, the examiner might determine you were not responsible for the collision.

Really sorry to hear this happened, Laurens.

If you are lucky then maybe the type of damage can prove out it was she who hit you and not the other way around. Did you take pictures of the scene of the accident? That might help too.

That sounds like a load of shit for you, but I don't see how a verdict can be made in court if, as seems likely, the stories remain opposites. Hopefully ends well for you anyway.
Also, a few years back my mom got whiplash, and due to poor doctor treatment is still feeling it now. So hopefully your doctor is better

P.S. next time the person who caused the accident is such a bitch, just tell her it's fine, she should go. Then tell the police she left the scene of the accident.

There was a pharmacist and 2 shops located where it happened. I already contacted both if they had seen anything or by any chance had security cams installed. But neither had. It's a shame cause all my previous cars i had installed dashcams, but only have this car 3 months and havent installed one yet
