Why am I asking this question here?
It is common opinion that most people from my country are drunks and thieves (yes, probably many of them are ;( ). And many of them are acting like kids and boors even while playing online, I'm very ashamed of them.
When I play games online I never reveal what country I am from.
How about you? Are you proud of ashamed to be of your nationality?

i live abroad since more than a decade and i'm still proud of being Italian, even if the behaviour of some others from my country is deeply shameful to me. i'm never going to change my nationality and i'll keep studying and appreciating the values, history and qualities of my home country, even if living abroad permits me to be exposed to other cultures and have a better critical view on the defects of my people.

Don't care, Sweden is a good place to live in, but I can't say that I'm a nationalist like that...

I can't see a reason why anyone should be proud or ashamed of their nationality. One should be proud or ashamed of one's deeds. Not of nationality, skin color or place of birth. =)

I'm not fat nor stupid, so I don't really fit the average American stereotype... If I had to choose, I'd probably rather be British, or Japanese. So while I'm not necessarily unhappy with my Nationality, its probably not my preferred choice.

Neither. It's simply a roll of the dice where you are born.

I don't see why you would feel either pride or shame for something over which you have no control. I think feeling anger about other people's actions, and how they might change people's opinions of you is something different, but anyone who pre-judges another by some single arbitrary criterion is destined to be an exceptionally poor judge of his fellow man ...

I've lived in several countries, but I'm happiest where I am now :)

Being a Canuck has influenced me to be open minded about everyone all cultures and Nations. I guess that makes me a bit proud that my country tries to be multicultural. As far as the internet goes, everybody should treat each other like they would want to be treated themselves, doing that keeps the world more interesting and fun. Being derogatory accomplishes squat. Just my 2 pennies.

I'm Spanish, and I'm proud of who and how we are. But nowadays is difficult to be proud of a nation where education, public health and other basic rights tend to be questioned.

Ps: Idk if in yours is the same, but here, someone that says that is proud of beign ***** (insert a nationalty here) is condisered as Fascist. Our civil war (which ended 70 years ago) is still dividing the people.

As a spanish who has been living abroad many times (For long periods of time), I don't agree with your statement. Don't get me wrong, is easy to be ashamed of how politicians behave, and what's wrong with our culture (turism, bull fighting, and many more things), the difficult part is to think that we can lead a change.

I feel pretty much the same about Poland. Retarded politacians who take too much money and need to raise the taxes bacause country budget is to low. And they don't do anything good. Job is hard to get.
I hope to find the job somewhere abroad after I get Master Degree.

1 decade ago

To say the least, Chinglish is basically English with some extra words added and some syllables pronounced in a strange way.

Example 1: Shut up la(h)!
Example 1a: Collect skin la(h)! (Collect skin is a literal translation of "shut up" in Cantonese)

Example 2: Solly law!

Personally, I detest it.
