Mine was the Human Centipede, which was really disturbing to me.

Straight to Hell. Every time you thought you knew what was going on in the film, they switched it up. I'm not sure how much of a comedy it was supposed to be, but I spent about 75% of it laughing and was exhausted by the end of the movie.

The Divide got really weird and creepy. Left me with a feeling of disgust at how low humans can go.

I think it's Meet the Feebles. But yeah. That was one bizzare movie. Very memorable for me. I still reference it in jokes with my wife on occasion.

I agree. I saw it in theaters with my family (apparently when I was 15) and while I kind of understood it, it was a definite mindtrip. What's funny is that I haven't seen it -since- the theaters and while I've forgotten the general concept (if you can call it that) of the movie, I still remember specific details about it. Wow. I can't believe that was 15 years ago. But yeah, I was definitely going to say this one. There's a difference between weirdest and disturbing, OP. I'm not a huge horror fan, so I think the most disturbing, for me, was Texas Chainsaw Massacre (although I saw the one from around 2003 or 2004 with Jessica Biel, I think). It's more the capacity for evil that I don't like, although I like the psychological aspect of Hannibal. If I were to ever watch any of the Saw series, the psychological aspect would interest me as well, but...again, the capacity for evil. It almost scares me that people can dream these up, even if it is for entertainment.

Psychologically speaking, if horrors like that are considered entertainment, should the horrors that happen in reality (which pale in comparison, mind you) really shock people? I [passively] wonder if there have been any studies that focused on the desensitization of evil, as the concept of evil has had to outdo itself and reach to shocking levels through the years for entertainment, in real life (but obviously not enough to do research).

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying the movie industry is to blame for whatever horrors may befall someone. It would be no more to blame than television stations reporting nothing but violence and terrorism or, god forbid, games. If I play games, I think it highly unlikely I blame them for the perceived increase in crime / decline in ethics and humanity. It's no more to blame than you or I...but I am just curious if someone who is accustomed to horrors much worse via the medium of horror films shows any difference in reaction in the case of an incident (or empathy in the case of a death via such incident). Hopefully that makes more sense to ya'll than it's starting to sound like. I have a habit of over-explaining (<- Pretty much think I'm stating the obvious).
